Sage chuckled and leaned into the girl slightly, putting tiny details into the drawing as he nodded. When she asked about food though, he wrinkled his nose and glanced over at the biscuits that had gone stale on the headboard. "no," he sighed. "Not really." He shrugged slightly. "Water is about all I can handle and I have to force it down my throat," he admitted. "Thanks though." He appreciated the girl, he really did, though the food just wasn't something he was up for. Maybe he should be eating, but no. He wasn't even going to try and make himself eat.

Anya furrowed her brows a little... she wasn't totally sure if he'd been eating while he was in here. Sage was never very good at meals, she'd noticed, but it was times like this when he probably should try something... but she wasn't going to make him eat if he didn't want to. "Sage, when's the last time you actually ate? Are you sure you don't want anything? Like juice or something?" She murmured quietly. She'd get something for herself anyway, but she'd probably just stay down in the dining hall to eat. She could wait a little bit, though... she did kind of want to see the boy finish off his little drawings. He was leaning on her a bit too, so she could probably settle down and just spend a bit of time with him before she went out again. They really hadn't had much time together, and if she was being honest, she was a little worried that she'd miss out on time with him... being safe, and warm, and comfortable before he left for the slums again.

Sage frowned slightly when the girl asked when he'd last eaten, trying to think. He'd had meals before he got sick, while he was working with the guards, but they were quick on-the-go meals... definitely not something Anya would count as an actual meal, they were more like snacks when he could grab them. And after he got sick, he obviously hadn't eaten anything at all. "A while," he admitted with a slight chuckle. "Not a full meal since training started at the very least." He shrugged slightly and shook his head at her other questions. "I'm not sure I'd even be able to keep juice down...water is hard enough," he half groaned. Eventually, he finished the drawing and curled up on the bed so his head was kind of resting on Anya's lap and looking up at the girl tiredly.

Anya gave a kind of disapproving sigh at his reply. She'd kind of known he wouldn't have eaten much, ne never really had, but nothing at all wouldn't help him get better. She was also a little disappointed that the doctor hadn't tube fed him or made him eat anything... if the boy was planning on leaving soon, then he needed to be strong enough to keep himself going, and that wasn't going to happen if he wasn't getting any energy. Granted, he was a lot healthier than when he first got to the castle, but it didn't mean he was exactly in good condition. "Sage, darling," the girl started as she gazed down at the boy in her lap, though the 'darling' bit was in a rather sarcastic tone, "are you not starving? I can get the doctor to give you something if you'd like," she murmured, her hand gently cupping his cheek as her thumb ran along it. From the way he was looking up at her, so tired, all she could feel was a type of pity for him... the kind that made your heart ache. Not just because he hadn't eaten, but because he was so... feeble. It was so strange to see him like this, and there was nothing she could do to help.

Sage's mouth curved up into a smile at her sarcastic little piece but shook his head. "I'll be alright. He did just have to sew my stomach back together," he pointed out. "I figured I'd give it a day or two and then try to force some food down my throat." Not eating wasn't helping, exactly, but throwing up and busting his stomach open again definitely wouldn't help. His chances were low the first surgery, he didn't need another one a day later. "Besides, having someone to talk to is already helping," he added in sheepishly. Having the girl here helped more than she knew, more than she could even really guess. She was the one person here who could take some of the pain away just by...being here. Seeing her face made the world brighter somehow...and to him those rays of sunshine were definitely welcomed in his dark world. He didn't really have the words to tell her that though, and he wasn't sure he'd ever find them.

The girl gave a small smile at the second bit. She did suppose that having somone to talk to might take his mind of things for a little while, but it wasn't exactly helping anyone. She went quiet after a few moments before gently slipping the boy another kiss, a little more loving, this time. "Just let me know whenever you try.. I can pick something up that's actually good for you... not any of this ward rubbish they'll try and give to you." The girl murmured as she went to play with his hair and settling down next to him. She shifted the boy so that rather than perched on her lap, he was resting his head over her shoulder, and her arms wrapped around him so she was a little more comfortable.

Sage chuckled and nodded, cuddling into the girl as soon as she settled down beside him. "Well, I'll have to take your word for it that the food here's bad..I haven't had any of it," he noted with a type of sleepy amusement. He wasn't tired enough to sleep, per say, but whatever the doctor had used to knock him out during the surgery was still wearing out of his system, so he just had a kind of fog over him still. He was glad to be here with Anya folded around him though...he knew she worried, and currently had a lot on her mind, as did he, so it was nice to just relax with her for a bit. They'd tried before, but the bath had pretty much ended with Anya embarrassed and himself exhausted. The thought was slightly amusing, though it did give him a bit of satisfaction at how sensitive the girl was that night. He wouldn't tease, though, since he'd most likely been the one to get her sick in the first place...and he did kinda feel bad about that. Luckily, the girl's immune system (and really, her whole body) just worked better than his did so she wasn't in any real danger from the illness.

Anya only hummed in reply, curling around the boy a little more as she got comfortable. She'd missed this... just being able to cuddle up. She missed being able to wrap him into a bear hug and pull him in, or or having their legs tangled together, and she missed his soft breaths that seemed to be lulling. She really just missed Sage... the last time they'd gotten to do anything remotely like that was in the tub, and with Anya not being well, it just ended up with her bright read and completely embarrassed, and Sage just giggling away about it. God, it was an awful feeling, having your heart beat so fast because of how much you love someone, then doing something to them and having your heart drop to your stomach and beat out if embarrassment. She knew Sage was just amused by the whole thing, but she'd definitely gotten in her head about it. The whole flirting thing never went well between them when one of them was hurt, so she wasn't overly sure why they still did that to their selves. "Hey Sage," she purred softly, though not in such an inviting way. "I love you," she noted plainly before burying her face into the top of his head, really just enjoying being around him again.

Sage chuckled at the girl's response, squeezing her a bit tighter as a stupid grin formed on his face. "I love you too," he told the girl in a slightly amused tone. He knew that it was hard for her to see him like this...not eating, barely able to walk around. Kept cooped in behind a curtain in the doctor's ward. And while he wasn't necessarily pleased with the circumstances, he had...not enjoyed, but it was nice to get to know the doctor a bit while he was here. And spending the time with Charlotte was nice. Hopefully he could see the girl again, and maybe meet her parents soon so he could get back to as normal a life as possible.

Anya grinned as the boy held her in a little. She knew he loved her, she did, but it was nice to hear it from him. She held onto him a bit tighter when he squeezed her, unable to help the little chuckle that escaped her. "You had better love me, after all this," she giggled jokingly before pressing a soft peck to his head. She was only teasing, really, but she did think she was a little mad for sticking with the boy after everything... she wasn't sure how many people would have stayed with him, never the fewer people like herself. She'd seen him in some pretty horrible states... but, well, he'd seen her when she wasn't exactly at her best, too, and it hadn't swayed him at all. "I should go," she hummed gently. She'd probably be back in a bit... but Sage could probably do with some time without her worrying over him, so she'd most likely find something other to do before hand.
