Sage hummed thoughtfully at what the doctor had said and then shrugged in response. What he'd said made sense...he'd been worried about being pushed over the edge too. But really, the doctor had only told him what he'd already felt in his gut. He'd have to go at some point....he just didn't know when. Though, it was a sort of reason as to why the girl stuck with him so much. Trying to protect him as much as she could. Somehow, he hadn't really realized that...he knew she cared, but he hadn't known she was protecting him, in her own way. Or maybe he'd known it but it just hadn't clicked until now. He closed his eyes again wearily, head spinning with a million thoughts. He wondered what the girl was up to...he missed her. He'd been isolated for quite some time, and he'd never really gotten some good time with the girl in weeks.

The doctor stayed for a short while before turning away and back to his little station. He was a little disappointed that the boy didn't feel quite welcomed to life, admittedly. He wasn't the boy's biggest fan, mainly because he was always either hurt or ill, but it didn't mean the boy hadn't grown on him just a little. And, in truth, he'd had the same effect on a couple of the castles inhibitors in the past couple of weeks. No one wanted to see him dead, not even the queen, who just seemed to hate everybody... she'd said he wasn't as bad as she'd thought he was when they had their first encounter. Which was a lot, coming from the queen. A couple of hours passed before he heard the slight squeak of the closing door and looked over his shoulder to see Anya, who waved with a slightly awkward smile. "You said I could come to say hi... I brought some stuff for Sage to do... drawing and things." she shrugged. He nodded and gestured towards Sage's little area, to which the girl wandered quietly, still not too sure what kind of condition he was in, or if he'd want to see her right then. She knew she was always around a lot, and that it could get irritating, so she wouldn't have been too irked if he'd asked her to go. She slipped through the curtains with a small smile and wandered over to sit in the chair next to the boy's bed. "Hey," she murmured, almost trying not to disturb him too much... if he was in a deep sleep, then he wouldn't hear and she could leave him be. "I have some of your things for you."

Sage opened his eyes when he heard Anyas voice, a tired smile forming in his face when he saw the girl there. "Hey," he murmured, still not talking in his normal voice yet. He wondered how often she had stopped by while he was out....what all she'd seen. Though, he didn't mind, and it did make him feel a bit better to know she'd at least stopped by, even if the doctor had kept her away from him. He shifted slightly so he was facing the girl, wincing slightly at the movement as he did so. It was worth it to see her face though.

Her smile became a little bit brighter, more genuine when he heard the boy's voice... it'd seemed like it'd been so long since she'd heard him talk, and it was a relief to finally hear it again. Her gaze softened ever so slightly towards him, though, it was more of a pitying look. "I figured you'd get bored sitting around, so I grabbed some pencils and things for you." She placed a smallish sketchbook on his side table, along with a couple of pens and pencils. It'd give him something to do... and she rather enjoyed seeing his finished pieces anyway, his art was always stunning. "You look better... how'd you feel? Not about to perish, I hope," she murmured, the last bit is a very, very bad joke.

Sage chuckled at the girl's joke and shrugged. "Everything hurts but I'll live," he told the girl in an amused voice. "Nothing very abnormal here." He appreciated the girl bringing him some things ....he had been bored. Though, he'd been trying to walk around, so he doubted he'd have energy that day to do anything. He was tired, but he wanted to talk to Anya, so he would force himself to stay awake.

The girl hummed a little and shook her head. It had gotten to the point where it was pretty normal for Sage to be in pain, or on the brink of death, and if she was being honest, it was a little exhausting. It'd be physically exhausting for Sage, but Anya was just always worried about him. It was most likely annoying, but she had tried not to always be floating around him. She wanted to be there for him, be that comfort, but she was running out of ways to do that. "At least you're not sweating buckets anymore. I might actually have to wrap you in bubble wrap in the future... but you'd still find a way to get in trouble, wouldn't you?" she asked with a slight chuckle

Sage chuckled slightly at Anyas joke. "Hey, half the time trouble seeks me out, not the other way around," he protested lightly. He gave the girl a slight grin and shrugged lighty despite the pain in his side. "Bubble wrap can pop easily but I suppose if I fall down the stair I'll be fine," he half teased the girl. He reached over and patted her knee lightly. "I'll be fine. Try not to worry too much." He supposed the girl was slightly heasitant to get on the bed since he'd just been cut open, but he did half wish she'd cuddle up ...she was warm and cozy. Though, he didn't know if she would get either.

Anyas smile almost became a little more teasing after a moment or so. It was nice to see the boy giving a laugh and cracking a little joke, though. It was reassuring to some extent. She knew he was in pain, but surely is couldn't be too awful if he was still joking around a little. She gave a type of playful chuckle before pouting childishly. "I suppose I might just have to tie you to the bed... that way trouble won't get to you at all." She kind of stuck her tongue out at him. Of course, she'd never really do that to him, but it was fun to tease a little. She cocked her head at him for a moment before placing a hand over Sage's hand on her knee. "You know it's easier just to say stop worrying than it is to do, hm?"

Sage chuckled and nodded. "I know," he admitted. Then he grinned up at the girl. "I'll put up with it if you're in here with me," he joked. Now that was wasn't, like, dying, he was back to his old self, laughing and teasing Anya. Of course, she'd probably enjoy tying him down and playing with him, and he'd probably laugh about it just as much as she would. Though, he knew she'd never actually tie him down ...she might pin him down, but he was fine with that. Really, he was fine with anything Anya would do, but still.

The girl chuckled softly, unable to help the slight tinge in her cheeks from their joking. She knew he'd literally put up with anything from her... well, up to a certain extent, but it was fun to joke around about it. "I supposed it could be interesting," she hummed in a fake thoughtful manner before leaning in and pressing a light kiss to his cheek with a jokey giggle. That was nice to do, too, considering now that he wasn't dripping with sweat anymore. "The doctor mentioned that you'd be on bed rest for a couple of days... how long is that happening for, do you know?" She was just keen to see him out of the ward... that meant he was completely in the clear, and there were a few other people that were surprisingly exited to see the boy.
