Sage had almost forgotten about the doctor until he heard the man walk away. Why had the man just been standing there for so long? Didn't he have other patients to attend to? Sage was the person he needed to spend the least amount of time with, wasn't he? Really, the man should be focusing on Anya and Charlotte, who were part of the royal family, and any guards who'd been injured. Sage was still just the tavern boy, and really they didn't need him to train the men....not anymore. The main trainer knew what he was doing. But the doctor seemed to be hesitant to leave Sage's side. Which he definitely wasn't used to. But, he suppose that if the doctor had made up his mind to try and keep him alive the best he could, Sage could make up his mind to do his best to live. Besides, he wasn't going to cop out on Charlotte. The girl needed him, and he wasn't going to lose another sister.

The man pursed his lips and wandered over to the girl, sitting on the side of her bed. Anya groaned and rolled toward him. "Have you got drugs," she groaned in a type of joking way. The man chuckled before giving a nod and handed her a couple of painkillers. Anya sighed and carefully sat up, though her head was ringing, bringing another dizzy spell. "How's Sage doing," she murmured before necking the few pills. The doctor wrinkled his nose at the question and shook his head. "He fine," the man fibbed, deciding that it was better not to worry the girl too much. If she knew he was in a state, then she'd probably want to go sit with him, make sure he was still... well, breathing. That or she'd want to go sit with Charlotte and entertain her, and he didn't need her getting ill too... she was still feeble herself.

Sage forced himself awake for a bit in order to take another pill for his head after the first one had worn off, then collapsed back into the bed again, closing his eyes and passing out pretty much right away. The pills only helped so much, but he supposed he'd please the doctor and take them. He didn't really want to....really he'd rather just fall asleep and never wake up, but the more he thought about it, the more stubborn he was getting. He was going to help Charlotte, so the doctor would have to deal with him and help him out for a while longer. And he'd need the doctor....he hated to admit it, but he did. He couldn't take care of himself, not like this. It was getting harder and harder to breathe, which definitely wasn't good, and he didn't have the energy to try and sit up or anything. The doctor would do what he could though, he knew that.

The girl sighed and gave a nod. "Have you heard anything... about Charlotte's parents? If you don't hear anything in the next few weeks... will you talk to her? I would but she's not my biggest fan," the girl murmured as she settled in, though the cold was starting to get to her again, washing over her and making her chill. Strangely, she didn't mind it... it was a little relaxing. She'd barely gotten any sleep, she was either too busy throwing up or overthinking the next couple of weeks. She wondered if Sage would go back to the slums when he was all better... and if she'd get to see him, or at least if he'd write. He was never even meant to be in the castle, that night in the cave was meant to be the last, it was just that it didn't quite end up that way. The man shook his head a little and cocked his head. "She's surprisingly alright... not feeling sorry for herself. Rather just enjoys bossing Sage around," He chuckled before dimming back down again. "Still nothing on her parents, though. I'll tell you if I find anything out," he promised with a gentle smile before tucking the blankets around her again and wandering off towards his ward again... he still had so many people to see. Some guards and some maids that had gotten attacked the days prior, Charlotte, and then he'd check in again on Sage, make sure he was staying cool still... that was his main concern.

Sage had ended up curled up in the center of the bed again, kind of wheezing out each breath. He was trying, he really was, but the medicine wasn't doing much and he supposed the headache was the least of his concerns. Breathing was probably first priority..if he couldn't breathe he definitely couldn't heal. He'd also need to be able to drink, maybe eat...and so far he'd thrown up everything. He'd quite honestly just upchucked on the floor, as getting up was way beyond him.

The man slowly made his way around the ward... only wincing when he heard the sound of someone chucking up all over the floor. It wasn't at all a good thing. Still, he was making his rounds anyway, so he could see who it was whenever he got to them. The guards only really had physical wounds... though, nothing overly serious. Some of them had a broken bone or two, but it wasn't anything unfixable. He just needed to make sure none of the stab wounds or bullet holes got infected. And that whatever Sage had didn't spread. It wasn't a cold, so the man had just put it down to pneumonia. It wasn't easy to pass around, but it definitely could, so he just had to make sure no one else was showing symptoms. Soon enough, he'd gotten around to Sage... by now, the man had called someone in to clean up the spew, so he moved the curtains over a little. He'd grabbed the little flannel and dunked it in the water again before placing it back on the boy's head. "Sage, lay on your back," he prompted, after waking the boy, trying to make his breathing a little easier on him. He didn't want to give the boy too much more painkillers... They'd just ware off after a while. He could maybe give him some antibiotic-type medicine, but they weren't advanced enough to be handed out just yet, and Sage couldn't afford to be a test dummy right then.

Sage was, admittedly, a bit annoyed when the doctor woke him up, but once he realized the doctor was trying to help him out he blinked the sweat out of his eyes and tried to take in what the man was saying. It took him a moment, well maybe a few moments, but rolled into his back with a grunt that really just came out as a wheeze. It helped a little bit with his breathing, though not much, and it did his stomach no favors. Curling up had helped keep him warm too, but if the doctor wanted him to do it then he'd do it....he had no energy to fight him, not this time.

The doctor knew well enough that the boy wouldn't want to move around... he was in the position he was in because he was comfortable, but the doctor would rather have the boy breathing better than be warm. He was still boiling anyway, but once he cooled off a bit he'd get a slightly lighter blanket to keep him a little more stable. The man shifted a few of the pillows so that the boy could sit up a bit if he so pleased, but it didn't seem like he'd be willing to move any more than what he was told. "You want to try a drink?" The man hoped the boy would at least try. The water was cool, so it'd help him out a little. Even if it all came back up again, it was good to try.

Sage wrinkled his nose at the doctor's request. He thought he'd been pretty cooperative, so the doctor could go away. But he also knew the doctor was trying to help, and if he thought it was a good idea, then he supposed he could try. So he just kind of shrugged. He didn't have the breath to talk, so really if the doctor felt bothered to give him a drink then fine. He'd probably just throw it all back up, but if the doctor thought it was a good idea, who was he to argue?

The man rolled his eyes when he didn't get much of a response. Maybe a grunt or a shake of the head, but a shrug was a pretty... open way to put it. Not really a yes or a no. He sighed and helped the boy down some water before wandering off again, but not before he was sure someone had cleaned up Sages mess. He could just rest for the time being... and he could be checked in on whenever the doctor felt like it.
