The mentioning of winter made her shiver and goosebumps lined her arms. She rubbed her arms and sighed "Yeah winter will suck so we will have to find some winter clothes for you. I can handle the cold but you won't be able to" a small frown appeared on her face. They would have to find extra winter gear for him too for the cold nights if she isn't warm enough to keep him warm too. Cassidy has never had to keep another person warm during winter so it would be a challenge for her.

Sage nodded. "Yeah, I know. I usually just make something from furs if I can hunt something big enough." He usually got what he needed, but if they could find warmer clothes that would be helpful too..his clothes definitely were not going to keep him warm, not as old and thin as they were. Plus there were holes. "We'll figure something out. I probably won't freeze to death," he chuckled.

"But what if you do? What if I can't keep you warm during the winter?" she felt like she might panic when realization hit that she might not be able to keep him warm and he would freeze to death. The cave would be colder due to the solid ground but it would keep them safe from any snow or harsh winds. They would have to gather a lot of wood to last them through the winter that way they could keep a fire going for Sage. A small whine sounded from her and her eyed looked away "I don't want to lose you, Sage" her voice went quiet. "W-We have to gather a lot of wood to last us the winter that way we can keep you warm. We have to keep you warm."

Sage looked over at Cass and hugged her tighter for a moment. "Try and relax, Cass. I've been surviving winters for a long time." She shouldn't have to worry about that...he knew what he needed to do. And he was used to being cold ...he wouldn't die, he might be cold but he wouldn't get cold enough to freeze to death. "We have the mattress and blankets, and in top of that you and a fire. I'll be fine, especially if we can amnage to get some warmer clothes." He appreciated her concern, he really did, but she didn't need to stress herself over that...it would only hurt her. Edited at September 15, 2022 09:41 AM by NightClan

Right, he was a street rat from what he told her. He lived on the streets through all of the seasons so of course he would be able to survive even without her warmth. It still terrfied her although deep down Cassidy knew he would be okay during winter. He was her boyfriend now and pretty much the only person she had left in her life. Cassidy brought her bottom lip between her teeth to gently chew on it and she leaned against Sage for his comfort. A soft growl sounded from her and she closed her eyes to rest her head on his chest, listening to the soft rhythm of his heart beat.

Sage smiled softly and ran his fingers through her hair once she pressed against him. He was glad she could use him for comfort. It meant she really did like him. Trust him. He trusted her, so it was nice to feel needed. And wanted...that's was a first for him, and he definitely enjoyed it. And it was better because this was his girlfriend who wanted him to be there. It was nice.

"Who knows, maybe we will get lucky and I'll find my family or even a pack member" she said softly. Cassidy was always hopeful that she might find someone she used to know but as time went on she had a feeling she never would. The world was big and they could be anywhere by now. A different state, a different country, who knew. If she caught their scent though she would definitely search for anyone she used to know. That's what was great about the heightened senses, she would remember every pack members smell. (Should we bring side characters in to form a group? I was thinking Cassidy and Sage could find one of her pack members when they leave to a different city to scavenge.)

Sage smiled and nodded. "That would be nice. They're like your family...it would be good to find someone. Especially since that means others are probably still around too " He did hope she could find someone...family, a pack like that, it wasn't something to take for granted. He never had anything like that, and it definitely affected him negatively. (I like that idea! Go ahead and do that :) )

Cassidy grew up in a pack and being part wolf, she craved being in one again. Wolves typically were in packs and they were bonded in some form to the members of the pack too so Cassidy not having any of them took a toll on her wolf and herself. Sure she had Sage but he couldn't do what a wolf could. "When do you want to leave for our trip? I just want to make sure both mine and your backpack are well packed that way we don't have to worry too much."

Sage thought for a moment and squinted up at the sky. "We could pack quick and head out soon I suppose, either that or we pack tonight and relax and the leave tomorrow morning." Either would work, he knew that. They had plenty of food and resources they could bring with them. And the wheather was unpredictable, but there was no sign of rain or super cold wheather in the next few days, so as soon as possible was the best thing to do.
