Remy shook his head. "No, I do this every spring. Its how I cope with all of this," he muttered, continuing what he was doing.

Sage sighed softly, moving to settle down beside him and reach out gently to help. "I know," he noted softly. Rent had explained it before. "But it's my fault you left," he murmured. "You needed me and I...." He trailed off, shoulders slumping again. "I was too busy getting over things that happened years ago."

Remy gently took Sages hand and moved it away. "I don't need help," he muttered, using his words. He finished up rewrapping the wounds before looking back up at Sage. "Its fine," he lied.

Sage wanted to help ...he still felt terrible about all this. But he just kept his hands in his lap after Remy moved it away, the hole in his chest only growing wider. "No, it's not. I should have been there for you," he murmured. He was quiet for a moment before sighing. "I had a nightmare. About my stepmother. I never told you what all she did to me ....but when you touched me it...it triggered flashbacks. I didn't see you, I saw her," he explained quietly. "I know it's not an excuse, but....that's what happened," he added quietly, hoping Remy wasn't mad enough to ignore it.

"I said its fine," Remy muttered, swimming away to their bedroom and curling up. He knew Sage had his demons, but he hadn't even apologized for hitting him. Remy had needed him and Sage had just pushed him away. He curled up on their bed of seamoss, taking up as little space as he could.

Sage felt his shoulders slump when remys attitude didn't change. He was out of ideas now. He figured Remy wouldn't want to sleep with him tonight, so he just let himself sink down onto the sand where he was, laying there curled up in a ball. Needless to say, he didn't sleep at all, so eventually he just decided to go hunting. Maybe if he brought back something good....maybe if he pushed himself to work harder ...to do better .. maybe Remy would forgive him.

Remy didn't sleep. He stayed up in their bed, curled up tight. He began to cry silently.

Sage moved out of the cave at sunrise, a spear in his hand. He didn't find much to hunt, but he stayed out until he found a few large fish and brought them back to the cave, working at making breakfast. Scaling and boning fish was hard with one hand, but he was determined to do it perfectly for Remy. And Liz too, he supposed.

Remy cried that night, not sleeping a wink. The next morning he wandered into the common room, looking pretty awful. He noticed Sage, but didn't acknowledge him. Remy swam to his corner and began to undress his wounds.

Sage had attempted a greeting, when Remy first woke ....but when he was only ignored he just went back to sullenly preparing the fish. It took him a while, and Remy had finished with his tail by the time he had placed the meat on a plate and moved to hand it to Remy, attempting a small smile as he did so.
