(<333) Sky looked the stallion up and down, he had a gorgeous side to him, but she didn't know whether it was his coat, his eyes or voice, maybe his whole demeanor? But Dusty seemed friendly, and that's all Sky cared about, her smile only grew wider at the compliment "Aww thank you! You're quite a charmer I see?" She inquired with a small chuckle, her head lifting some more and her body tension disappearing, her ears perked forward and she snorted at a fly "The water's nice, isn't it? So cool on such a warm day" She asked, trying to be polite (Yeah it's been a while I'm not sure what to say either XD I'm a little rusty)

(<33333) - Dusty chuckled a little at Sky's first comment. "Nah, just trying to make friends." Then, in a much more serious tone, he added, "You wouldn't believe how some horses interpret a friendly comment like that..." He shook his head slowly, lost in a memory. He came back to reality when Sky said something about the water. What had she said? Was it that the water tasted weird? Or-- no-- maybe it was that the water was warm? "Actually, I think the water is a normal temperature," Dusty said, looking towards the creek to his left. "At least, it was when I walked through it to get over here."

Sky nodded at his response "Fair enough, I like to make friends too! It's a good feeling" She agreed with a nod, she lowered her head slightly at his next comment "Yeah, I'd love to be friends with everyone! But umm.. In the past I've realised it's not always possible." She said quietly tilting her head a little at what she said, she stomped a hoof to wake it up as it started to go to sleep. She looked back at the water as Dusty spoke "Oh ok, my mouth's just super sensitive, so if I drink it it feels colder, but if I swim it's not that bad" She explained dipping her hoof in the river "Yeah, not cold, my bad" She said before letting a small chuckle escape

Dusty looked at her curiously at her comment about friends. 'Huh. She's just like me.' He flicked his tail at an annoying fly that was buzzing around his stomach. When Sky replied to his words about the water, he realized he must've heard her wrong before. "Oh, wait, did I say that wrong? Shoot. I kind of..." Dusty was always embarrassed to say that he hadn't been listening, "zoned out while you were talking about the river before..." Dusty lowered his head in embarrassment, snorting in frustration at himself. He shook his mane and brought his head back up, shaking it off. "So, about making friends... Do you want to be my friend?"

Sky shook her mane to the other side and took one more sip from the water before backing away from the river a little to face Dusty once again, she did her best to hide the slowly growing smirk that was showing at the corners of her mouth as the poor stallion looked awkward or more so embarrassed, but luckily she made it go away when she opened her mouth "No it's ok, you were probably thinking about something else, right?" She inquired offering a non judgmental smile. At Dusty's question her ears perked forward, and her face lit up with excitement "You wanna be friends with me!? Sure! I'd like that" She said enthusiastically, now grinning, she looked around then back at him "I haven't seen a horse in months, you don't know how bored and lonely it can get around here" She said with a low huff, after that her smile returned, her head was fully raised by now

(Eep sorry I kinda forgot about this >.<) - The fly ventured back toward him, and Dusty swatted at it more aggressively this time, stomping one of his back hooves against the ground to scare it off. When Sky tried to make him feel better about his mistake with the river, he knew he couldn't accept her apology. "No, it's not okay. I should have listened to what you were saying, not lose myself in a memory. I was trying to answer what you had said, but I didn't hear it, so then I tried to remember what I had heard you say, but I couldn't since I hadn't heard you, so I made it up. I shouldn't have, but that's what happened. I'm sorry. I'll try to listen better next time." His words came out a little quicker than he wanted, and he lowered his head again, frustrated that he couldn't get it right. 'Why am I so flustered around her?' As he was talking, the fly had persisted in its tormenting and landed near his right eye. Dusty shook his head and nipped at it, missing it but finally scaring it off. 'Finally! Took him long enough,' he thought, breathing a sigh of relief. Before she even said anything in response to his question, Dusty knew Sky was going to say that yes, she wanted to be friends. The way she took a step forward and perked her ears said it all. He listened to what she said, feeling something like hope growing inside, and replied quickly. "Awesome! Oh, it's gonna be so great to actually have someone to talk to for once!" Then her tone grew darker, and he lowered his voice to match hers, feeling her past sadness. "The last time I saw a horse, I tried to talk to them and they kicked me in the ribs. Didn't even give me a chance to say hello! Trust me, I do know how lonely it gets out here." Dusty's eyes glazed over slightly, and suddenly he was standing on the beach, looking out on the beautiful sunset, wishing with all his might that he had someone to share this moment with. Dusty shook his head to come out of the memory, but the thoughts were still there. Maybe Sky was the answer to that wish he had made months ago. Dusty smiled and focused back on Sky, standing there with her beautiful cream-and-white coat, interested in what he had to say. That was a rare thing. Dusty took it in and vowed never to lose her, as a friend or otherwise. Sky was going to change him. He could feel it. - (Holy avocados that was way longer than I meant it to be! Sorry!!) (It's fine lol, it happens ☺️) Sky's eyes were drawn back to Dusty as he went on to say that it wasn't ok that he didn't listen, and listened quietly as he apolagized, her face going serious as she took in all the words he'd said, He seemed, stressed about not hearing whatever nonsense she said about the river, she snorted out softly and shook her head with little movement "Thank you, for saying sorry, but really it's fine, i don't mind at all. No stress, Dusty, and you don't have to do better, i'm just glad to finally have a friend to talk to" She said offering her smile again. She could see he was struggling with something, but wasn't sure what 'I hope he's ok, but i won't push, he might not want to share' She thought to herself. Her energy picked up again when Dusty got excited about being friends and laughed quietly "Yes! I agree it's going to be amazing to have a fellow horse to converse with, and someone to hang out with too" She nodded, pawing the ground a few times, her expression lessened when he told her about the horse who kicked him without giving him a chance to be friendly, she shook her head lightly "Oh, I'm sorry, that's not nice, nor fair. They didn't even give you a chance.. Well at least I'm not the only one who has been lonely, but that's still horrible that you haven't had the best luck" She said sympathetically. She admired Dusty, not just his coat, or his eyes, but she admired the fact that despite his last experience with a horse.. He still swam through the river and came up to her and said hi, she refocused and nodded to him, glad to finally meet someone (Nah we like the long ones, but yeah I think mine might be too short @_@) Edited at May 30, 2025 10:28 PM by Hyrule_Stables

Dusty was beyond frustrated at himself by this point. He just couldn't seem to get anything right! 'Well, no use trying even more and messing up again,' he thought, swishing his tail, this time in annoyance. He decided to leave the conversation about how horrible he was at listening where it was. Sky was right. Of course she was. Dusty was never right. Why should he be? What authority did he have to be right? These thoughts and more swirled in his head, overwhelming him. Dusty forced himself to listen to Sky, making sure he didn't hear her wrong again. 'Too much embarassment for one day already,' he thought, turning towards Sky again. She was excited again, talking about being happy that they were friends. Dusty had to feel some joy in that moment too, realizing this was the first friend he'd had that really cared about him! He waited for her to finish then looked out over the plain. "So... what do you want to do first?"

(Ok I finally finished my last post :) ) Sky started to get a sense that Dusty was upset, so she lowered her head a little in case she was making him feel uncomfortable. When he looked out at the horizon and asked what she wanted to do, she looked around for a moment thinking, the opened her mouth "Wanna race? There's a spot I know in the forest, just west of here, all oak trees except for a place in the centre, I was gonna head there after my drink, it's a spot filled with apple trees, the best apples I've ever tasted, I think you'll like them too!" She offered pointing her nose in the direction of the forest, when she looked back at him, her eyes looked slightly concerned "But be careful, there are wolves that reside in that forest..." She couldn't hold the face, and cracked up "Nah don't worry, they usually sleep during the day, as long as we're gone by night, we're safe" She reassured Dusty, getting a little jumpy ready to run if he agrees Edited at May 30, 2025 10:44 PM by Hyrule_Stables
