Cass and Beau both grinned, watching the mare eat out of her hay net. Cass studied Caleb as he untied her and mounted with swift ease. "Bye" She smiled softly, Beau waved.

They watched him leave, the mare flicking her tail as she went. They turned back towards the fair to go and join in with the fun.

Cass popped Beau down and held her hand, as they walked along enjoying the smells, sights and sounds of the fair. They paused at several stalls to pick up cotton candy and popcorn for each of them. Cass laughed as Beau spun the bright blue candy on the end of her stick. "That candy is bigger than your head!" She chuckled, Beau lauged with her.

They walked further up and found Jaxon at the shooting stall. They watched him, eating the snacks they'd bought.

Bang. Bang. Bang. "3 strikes!" The standman hollered. "You win. A teddy of your choice" Jaxon picked one out before turning, his eyes widened in surprise to his sisters standing behind him. He crouched down to Beau. "Here you go" He handed her a teddy bear, the tan bear wore a red polka bow tie. He tickled her and stole some of her candy from the stick "Hey!" She giggled, trying to swat him away from the candy. Cass laughed when Beau turned to her, an unimpressed expression on her face.

Jaxon stood up to join Cass. "Fancy a ride on the waltzer over there?" He pointed. Cass looked and shook her head. She wasn't a fan of the faster rides. "I have to look after Beau" She said, eyes twinkling, knowing she got off scott-free. "Ah..Lets go find mom and dad, then we can go on some of the rides if you'd like" Cass nodded.

They departed from the shooting stall and weaved through the crowd to find a large tent, inside a live band and in amongst the crowd, their parents dancing to country music. Cass paused at the edge of the crowd, tapping her foot as she held onto Beau's hand. Jaxon swung round and picked up Beau "Come on little lass, let's go for a dance" Beau giggled as Cass watched them spin and dance. Joy shined in her eyes.

When the song was over, her parents spotted her and Jaxon and Beau rejoined her too. "Mom, Dad, Beau isn't old enough to go on the rides" "That's fine sweetie, go have fun" Mal touched the side of Cass' cheek before turning to hold Beau's hand.

Cass and Jaxon left the tent and turned towards the loudest part of the fair. The rides.

Cass and Jaxon got off the last ride. "I think I'm going to be sick" Jaxon joked as he stumbled into Cass's side, she pushed him off "Be sick over there then!" She teased at him.

The fanfare erupted over the funfair rides. Cass looked up to see the flags flying high over the arena. "Come on, let's go watch the horses" She digs her elbow into his side, before leading them towards the arena.

She could see amongst the crowd of people there were cows in the arena. She recalled that this was Caleb's event. Cass grabbed Jaxon's arm to hurry and they did. Their boots crunching the grass as they approached, weaving in through the crowd, reaching the ring side. The cold bars a nice relief on Cass' arms as she leaned on it to get a better view.

She swung her gaze round and spotted Caleb on his mare Splash. Jaxon watching intently next to her, his arms crossed lazily.

Cass watched, her eyes widened. Jaxon nodded impressed with Caleb's movements. Cass looked to her left, her dad and mom stood their now, Beau in her mother's arms. "He's a good one" John pointed to the young man who had tackled the calf in under 10 seconds. Cass turned to him "We needed another stable hand and cattle driver, perhaps he can fill the position" Cass looked at her father, eyes pleading. He removed his fedora to wipe his brow. "Fine, lets go find him after and ask him".

Cass and her father walked over to the trailers after the show was done. She spotted Caleb and his mare packing up to go home. She approached slowly with her father in tow. "Good run out there today" She said to Caleb, smiling wide. Her mom, brother and sister nowhere to be seen.

Cass was a little taken back by his demeanour. She wasn't that easy to impress when it came to the romance kind of things. She saw him as a friendly face. She gazed at him. "Yes" She nodded slowly. John had caught up behind her and they looked at each other before Cass moved forward to help him. She accepted the brush from Caleb and gently brushed the mare's mane. She looked up into Caleb's bright blue eyes. "I'm headed home with my family" She tossed her head in her father's direction. "My dad wanted to offer you a job" She said softly, removing the brush from Splash's mane. She gaze at him, unsure what he would say to such an offer.

John smiled, he crossed his arms, he approached as Cass looked in his direction. "Hey there lad, Caleb right? Cass told me all about you" John tipped his fedora to Caleb, Cass felt the heat rise in her cheeks, as she gazed from her dad to Caleb and back again. "I wanted to formally offer you a position at our ranch. We're looking for a general ranch hand, stable work, working the farm, cattle driving. It's not far from here actually" He said, a soft smile played on his lips, his accent thick but light. The wrinkles at his eyes creasing as he smiled and spoke.
