Sage sort of blinked at the girl before shrugging. "Everyone needs food. And everyone is dying," he shot back, brandishing his own dagger rather lazily. He could beat her....he hadn't met anyone he hadn't been able to beat, as he'd trained for years. So he wasn't worried about her threats. He felt sort of bad but he had to take care of himself friat, thatw as just how the world worked now.

Quiin notice he seemed a little cocky. Perfect. That could work out in her favor. She faked a punch to the left but stabbed to the right. Grabbed a can and ran.

Sage was ready for a sword fight, not a punch, which threw him off balance slightly. He avoided all her blows, slipping out of grasp, but she'd grabbed a can by then. He chuckled slightly and shrugged. "Impressive," he called over at her as she took off. He'd let her have it ....it wasn't worth the time or energy to chase her. Besides, he figured she'd earned it.

Quinn laughed hard once she got home. And she presented the can to her parents. Though she thought they would be pleased but they were not. "Quinn what have we told you about going outside?!?" her mom yelled "Its too dangeous" "Promise us that you won't go out again" Quinn promised them but she crossed her fingers behind her back... No way was she gonna tell her what to do, beside she loved spending hours roaming the street and killing a few zombies or two.

Sage wandered home after that, a stupid grin on his face though he wasn't sure why. Maybe it was the fact that he'd half gotten to fight something that wasn't a slow, stupid zombie. Or maybe it was simply the human interaction with someone who wasn't his father. Either way, he was grinning for whatever reason. The smile vanished when he got home though, since his father was waiting at the door, drunk, yelling about how he'd taken too long and such, as he always did. He mumbled an apology and set the cans in the man's hands before scurrying away from him as fast as possible.

Quinn layed in her bed that night thinking. She felt bad that the Harrisons had to take care of her enven though she wasn't their's. She silently slipped out of the window and headed to the one place where she could get peace. The graveyard. She sneeked amung the hadows until she can to a familar grave. Her dad's. She knelt dow and rubbed her fingers over the engraving. She fell asleep.

Sage's dad eventually fell asleep. He snuck out of the house as soon as he could, walking along the path. He had a cut and bruise on his cheek from where his dad had hit him earlier. It hurt a bit, but he'd live. He was more concerned with the cold air. It was turning to winter, and they didn't have more than a half broken garden shed to live in. They'd freeze to death if they didn't change something...and with his dad always being drunk ti didn't seem like that was going to happen. He shivered and walked along, hoping to warm up, breath steaming in the cold air. His thin clothes did little to keep the cold away, but he kept walking, trying to do something.

Quinn shivered in her sleep, but she felt happy where she was. If only she knew who and where her mom is..

Sgae wandered around for a while, cold but just wanting to stay out of his house. His dad was crazy, and he didn't like him or trust him.
