Kate narrowed her eyes and gave a reluctant look inside the house. "That'll work, yes. I'm assuming we need to stable your horses as well?" She asked bluntly, turning and walking in the house a few steps to toss the papers on her table. It wasn't an invitation to come inside. She returned to the door with her arms crossed.

He nodded. "If you can, yes. But we'll be here mostly at night." He said to console her slightly of his presence. He tilted his head into the door, watching her for a moment. He stepped back as she came back. "If you wouldn't mind showing us around a little?"

"We can. But let it be understood; we may have to feed you, house you, and stable your horses, but that is all we will do. We aren't here to be your friends, we aren't here to do as you please, we aren't here for your convenience. We are here because we are forced to have you." She snapped, shutting her door and giving a sharp whistle as she brushed past the Lieutenant. A large black dog came trotting to her side, observing the three red coated humans curiously. She walked to the left out of her door and went straight that way, gesturing to a large barn on her right that sat at the top of a small hill. "Our barn. You'll take the three stalls closest to the road, everything you need for them should be there." She said flatly, continuing on at a brisk pace. She glanced off to her left, a field of wheat where ranch hands, including her father, were working. A few stood and watched with narrowed eyes, pausing their work. Her father frowned and made his way up toward them, but she waved him off to the house. He obeyed. After a couple minutes of walking, they came to a smaller house, a little more roughly built than the main one, but comfortable none the less. "There are bunks, a kitchen, basic necessities in there. They can talk to the ranch hands about finding a free bed." She said flatly, turning on her heel and surveying the man she had been speaking with. "That's all you need to know, I believe." She said coldly. Edited at October 25, 2023 08:22 PM by Widow Valley Farms

He nodded, her harshness was understandable. He turned out of her way as she slammed the door. He glanced down at the dog, a mild smile crossed his face he walked over to his horse, putting his hat on the horn and taking the lead back. His men followed beside the bay roan as he walked beside her. He stayed silent as she explained. He watched the workers, one approached, but turned away. Leaving Sam unaware who he was. He watched the scenery, her land was lovely. "Thank you, we will try to stay out of your path. My name is Samuel Thatcher, by the way." He dismissed the two men, they could ask around on their own. ((-later that night she walks into the barn and he's baby talking his horse-))

One word: absofuckinglutelyyes "...and yous just my wittle schnookums, yes, yous is a VERY good b-" "...you are the most glorious man I have ever met.")) "I'd say you're welcome, but that would be a lie." Kate huffed, a small twinge of playfulness in her voice. Maybe. "Right. Kate Prior. I'm sure my father would like to speak with you, I need to show you around the house anyhow. Put your horse away and then come inside." She finished, walking past and straight back to her house, Lucifer at her heels. She gave him a light scratch behind the ears as she walked.

"Are you just my lil babey boi innit arwer ilvuyoubabefhwantsoemscritche-" "-watching him- I've never felt such things before")) He lifted an eyebrow, tilting his head at her. Her first emotion besides hatred! He nodded, Kate. "Yes ma'am." He nodded as she stopped, watching her walk away. He waited a few moments so he wouldn't seem to be following her before he turned to the barn. A little while later his horse was settled and he walked up to the house, knocking again instead of walking in.

"My sweetest, goodest boy, yes. I luv you sweetiewiltingmybestestfwendyesdatsright-" "- literally just wanted to ride her horse - ...okay, you're mine now. - snatch -")) When Kate got back to the house it was right into an explanation to her father, an older man (surprisingly old for the times). He was a little pudgy, with salt and pepper hair, a scruffy beard. Possibly her favorite family member. After that, she left him to contemplate while she went back to scrubbing that stubborn old table. Which she did with no complaints, because now she had a vendetta against it. Her father was waiting in the kitchen, apart from the dining room. By the time there was a knock on the door, Kate was on her hands and knees on the table, using both hands to scrub at a stain stuck hard into the wood. She huffed at the knock, lifting her head and blowing a few loose strands of hair out of her face. "Come in." She called, while her father gave her a slightly appalled look. Even if they were redcoats, he didn't want EVERYONE to know his daughter was insane. She puffed out a breath at him and went back to scrubbing the table. "-HEHE AYOURE COMING HOME WITH M E-")) He unlatched the door, stepping in cautiously. He turned a corner and found his way in to the kitchen. He waved gently. It was probably an odd sight to see such a young Lieutenant for her father. He had a pack over his right shoulder. He glanced around, feeling incredibly overdressed. He approached the older man, bowing his head, he held a hand out. "You must be Mister Prior?"
| |

Mr. Prior looked only slightly bewildered when he saw the Lieutenant's age, but he accepted it in stride. He took the man's hand quietly and shook, his grasp firm. F "Right, and you are Lieutenant Thatche-" He was cut off by a triumphant... whoop? From the dining room. "I DID IT!" Kate came sprinting into the kitchen moments later, clearing her throat and blinking a moment as her father gave her the biggest 'what the fuck' look she had ever seen. "I, uh... I got the stain out of the table." She finished quietly, clasping her hands behind her back and clearing her throat. "Yeah. Well, you two have fun." She finished, turning tail and fleeing back to the table. Mr. Prior blinked a few times and turned to Sam as though nothing happened. F "I really only have a few things to say to you. First, a question. How long will you be here?"
| |

Sam's shake was just as firm, though his hand was thinner and a little softer than Mr. Piror's. He dropped his hand after the introduction. He turned back, quietly startled. He watched her run off, blinking to the wall, her turned back to Mr. Prior with slight amusement on his face that turn back to serious as soon as he could make it. He was soon back on track. "I'm not entirely sure, hoping for not long. Should be only until the Tea tax dilemma is resolved." His voice tinged hopefulness.
