That's a good strategy! I used gen ed to test out law since I was interested but very quickly decided that was a no. Gen eds are also good for bridging gaps too, I didn't remember much chemistry from school so I did a chem gen ed this summer that I've just finished just to feel a bit more confident

For sure. I'm in a weird spot since I'm already enrolled at a university for fall.. but I was hoping to at least try something out in the summer beforehand, and use gen ed courses as an opportunity to pick out things to try.

I totally understand that, I still feel that pressure now especially since I'm not working while studying right now. You can also look into certificates or online courses that are shorter/lower pressure if there was something you were really curious about.

Moon, interesting! I really struggle with allowing myself to take that sort of time to explore- I have so many financial goals it's hard to set them aside so I can first get things moving and then focus on it later.

All that to say take your time and if you are passionate about something see if there's a field that includes that lol!

Nope I worked full time in various roles for years before studying. I technically didn't earn university entrance from my schooling system so I would have had to bridge or wait until I was a 'mature' student. I have worked in a lot of casual and seasonal roles to see different fields. I do have late diagnosed ADHD though so I did lack direction for a long time lol. But I always loved horse color genetics ironically, had horses from a young age and that lead me into genetics as a whole. Psych was.. a lived experience thing but I quickly decided being a therapist isn't what I wanted so I discovered behavioral psychology and research avenues rather than clinical. I'd love to do genetic counselling but I would have to do my masters overseas which unfortunately is not an option so I will eventually have to choose to do psych or bio for my masters if I chose to do it
