Sage slept well, at least...when he woke up through the night he was able to cuddle back up and go to sleep again without a second thought. He woke up to some kind of loud noise, though it soon quieted down and he relaxed, scooting closer to the girl again.

The girl slept soundly through the night... or, most of it. There had been a few times through the night where she had woken up, only to hold Sage a little tighter before nodding back off to sleep. The second time, it was a little bit more, well, chaotic. It was still dark out... but she could hear yelling, and small lights flickering in the distance. She wouldn't have looked twice at it normally, but these lights were moving, in rhythm with the raspy yelling and heavy footsteps. The girl did try and ignore it, as if it were some bad dream, but these weren't stopping. Eventually, the girl forced herself to sit up and gently peeled herself away from Sages hold before slipping out of bed. She wanted to see what was going on... see if it was just the villagers messing around out or something she should actually worry about. The girl tiredly walked out to the little balcony and peered down to see what was going on, only to have a gun shot in her direction, missing by meer inches and the bullet hitting the floor with a soft clank. Anya could only squeak and shift back inside, slamming the doors to the balcony behind her. "Sage," she squeaked, though not much came out. Her heart was racing and her lips were shaking ever so slightly, as if she was holding back a fretful cry. The girl took a step and kind of jumped on the bed shaking the boy probably a little rougher than she had meant. "Sage wake up," she snapped, more than desperate for his instruction on what to do... by the looks of things, and the yelling she could already hear around the castle they were already in the castle walls... the guards would be working hard to keep them away from actually getting in the building, but Anya wasn't sure for how long they could do that... she just wanted to make sure her family were somewhere safe before the villagers had gotten in the castle.

Sage jerked awake at the sound of the gun, though by the time his brain has caught up to speed Anya was shaking him. He reached out blindly to grab the girls arms and try to calm her down. "I'm awake." He took a deep breath and huffed it out, groaning slightly. "Let's get you to Luther," he muttered. "I have to go help my men." He'd trained them...no way was he going to hide while they fought, especially when they needed all the help they could get. And sage was the best help they could get in this instance. He hit the floor running, barging into Luther's room, slamming the door open to wake the guy. "They're attacking the castle," he grumbled to fill him in. "Keep Anya safe or I'll bring your neck myself," he muttered and then he ran out the door, closing it behind him and sprinting down to where all the action was, hoping Anya stayed safe.

Anya could only watch as Sage hurried off. She wanted to help... but god all she could do was sit there and be, well, effectively useless. Her heart was still going... and she just wanted to help, look after her family. It was all well and good keeping safe with Luther, but that wasn't doing anything. She has just left pacing, just getting herself more upset than she had to be. If things went the right way, then hopefully the villagers wouldn't get through the doors... though she could already hear them banging at the front doors, trying their hardest to barge their way in. She wandered up to a larger window, peering out until she was yanked back by Luther, who by now had half of his armor on. He pretty much dragged her off and made Anya sit on the desk in the corner. "Stay away from the windows," he hissed, though he still looked half asleep. The boy shrugged his light gear on and went to close all of the blinds. "Luther, I need to get my family," the girl squeaked, fiddling with her thumbs impatiently. That only earned her an irritated groan from the boy. "Sage said to keep you safe, Anya," he groaned as he strapped his shoulder guards up. "I'll be fine. Will you get them? Please," Anya murmured, to which Luther reluctantly agreed. "Fine. But you sit, and stay." The boy ordered before slipping out the door.

Sage was swept into battle as soon as he reached the gates...they were already fighting by the time he got there, and dead already littered the ground. He cursed and lept into battle, only to get practically shoved to the side as the gates burst open. He growled and lept back into it, then when he figured out once he evened the numbers out, the guards could hold the for a bit, he ran back into the castle to make sure everyone inside was safe and aware....some of these people slept like rocks. He sprinted around for a bit, then realized the people were inside the castle when he ran into the rebels again. He cut a few of them down, and then heard a commotion...someone had found the queen and were clearly planning on grabbing her. He killed the man in front of him and sprinted after them. He found the queen pretty easily, though the room was swarming with rebels. He lept into the fray only to realize they had a gun when a bullet hit his shoulder. Gosh, what was it with people shooting him in the shoulder? He didn't care much though....he was ready to hit someone.

Anya paced back and forth in the room, despite being told to stay put. She wanted to help somehow... other than being perfectly useless and letting everyone else do all the work. She was nowhere as skilled as the guards, including Luther and Sage, and her bravery wasn't exactly top-tier. What if she got in their way and things just go worse? What if it just got her yelled at, caught, or killed, or something even worse? No... she'd just have to wait for this one out. Try and stay quiet until Luther came back, hopefully with some of her family.

The queen had been up at the wrong time of day... it was about two in the morning, too early for pretty much, anyone, to be functioning, and for whatever reason, she thought it would be a decent idea to go for a stroll around the castle... or maybe it was a drink or a late night snack, but who knows, it's not like that matters now, anyways. What did though, was that she was cornered by about a dozen grimy-looking men. Haunting smiles surrounded her, and all she could think about it what the hell they were going to do to her. Well, that was until she heard a gunshot not too far in the distance. Followed by a yelp and then the clattering of what sounded like a sword

Sage was quite obviously annoyed when he got shot again ...he he'd barely gotten any time of a healed shoulder, and now he'd been shot again. Though, it didn't much stop him from continuing to fight. It may not have been the smartest choice, but quite frankly, it was the only choice. Especially since the queen was quite obviously not in it at this moment and he couldn't exactly leave her here to be killed or ... Worse. So, he just did what he always did and slipped around the men surrounding him as best he could, relying on his speed to get about. The men quickly emptied, though one was stubborn as gave him a good fight... He stumbled once and they were rolling around on the floor, sage for once at a loss of what to do. He'd never really been in this position, and he was holding the man's weapon above his body with his injured arm. Which, to say the least, hurt like the devil. He was trying, he really was, though when the man pulled out a gun, he pretty much knew how this fight would end. In a sort of last ditch effort to at least take him out with him, sage wrapped his legs around the man and twisted around so his sword fell and he could stand the guy. Though, that set off the gun, which had two bullets...one hit sage in the gut somewhere. It hit a rib, so it could be alright, but it broke the rib so he just didn't know. The other bullet was more concerning...it hit his chest on the right side. He couldn't breath laying on the floor like this, but the corpse was on top of him so he couldn't move.

The woman kind of sat there for a little while, frozen, unable to move. It was almost as if she were some sort of statue. The truth was that she was barely comprehending what was going on. Someone had their hands around her wrist for a little while, but she heard a few gunshots, and the few men surrounding her soon disappeared. She wasn't exactly sure where they'd gone off to, but all she could do was sit there until she'd understood what was going on. Someone was there... they were firing bullets at someone but she couldn't make out what was going on. Eventually, the woman grunted and sat up a little, blinking once or twice before her vision cleared up a little. The men, they were dead? She just breathed for a moment as she tried to take everything in when she noticed Sage struggling beneath a very dead - and heavy-looking corpse. The woman stared for a little while before crawling over to try and roll the body off the boy, a slight squeak escaping her as she did so.

It took both sage and the woman to roll the man's body to the side - though sage wasn't exactly sure why the queen had suddenly decided to help him. It wasn't like he could breathe much better anyway, not with the way he had been torn up. Either way, he tried to sit up, and when they failed he contented himself to just...lay there. He hadn't expected that to happen...normally a gun only had one or two bullets in it at a time, not three. That was new. Although, sage had practically run into the fight without thinking. Of course, that was what he always did. Really, if he'd stayed behind, it wouldn't have been normal and he would have worried about what sanity he may have had. He supposed if he just tried to keep breathing it would only get him so far...he wasn't even sure he wanted to try, considering his vision was already blurry and breathing hurt so much. Well... everything hurt like hell, bullets tended to do that. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement and when he looked over, he saw Lizzie, much to his surprise. Apparently he was closer to joining her than he realized. He focused on the girl...shining and bright. He'd never seen her so healthy. So..happy. He wished he could have taken enough care of her so she could be like that while she was alive. He heard her voice in his head, and he half reached out to the girl, wishing he could join her more than anything. But...he still had a job to do. "I can't join you yet, Liz," he whispered softly, voice breaking slightly. Lizzie just smiled at him and dissapeared. He closed his eyes then, his heart hurting more than the physical wounds.

The woman watched as the boy lay still before furrowing her brows and looking around. She could hear yelling and footsteps down the hall, so she needed to get out of there. But she couldn't just leave the boy there... not when he'd effectively just saved her life. Well, she wasn't sure if that was what he was going for, but it sure ended up that way. The queen, she was a lot of things, but she most certainly wasn't the kind of person to abandon someone who had pretty much just saved her life... no, what was a cowardly thing to do, even if it was someone she wasn't overly fond of. The boy was bleeding, a lot, and she doubted he'd be moving any time soon. On the same hand, she was concerned he'd hurt even more if she dragged him off somewhere. The woman quickly checked that he was still breathing before looking around... one of the lounges was nearby, so she could try and get him over there. Eventually, she decided that was best and hooked her arms under his, trying her hardest to drag him into the little room.
