Amira came back to earth mentally and turned over, away from her family. "Go have breakfast"

Sage was surprised when she just turned around, taking a few steps backwards, bile rising in his throat. Well, now he wasn't hungry. But he couldn't stay here either. He grabbed Liz and moved to leave, pausing at the door. "If...if I don't make you happy...just tell me," he noted softly, barely managing to get the words out before he fled, running once he turned the corner and bursting out of the hospital, taking deep breaths of air as he tried to control his emotions

"Sage..." She said, pained now. She was just trying to make it easier for him to keep his mind off of whatver was wrong with her... She felt tears begin to stream down her cheeks. He hates you now. Idiot. Coward. Why would you do that? Take up his time, don't waste it. He hates you. He hates you he hates you he hates you

Sage stayed outside until it was late in the day. He'd need to sleep, he knew, and Liz was out cold on his chest. He slowly made his way back to the room, surprised to see Amira still awake, laying in the bed. Her blanket was falling, so he settled Liz on before moving to readjust the blanket around her gently.

"I'm sorry...for upsetting you..." She whispered, aware of their small daughter sleeping. "Can you come here, please?" She asked gently, opening the edge of the blanket in invitation

Sage blinked slowly, moving to slide under the blanket with her when she asked. "No, I'm sorry ...I shouldn't have said that and left," he noted tiredly, running a hand over his face.

Amira cupped his face with both hands. "I love you. I love our life. I love our daughter. Please don't ever leave me." She pleaded quietly, holding the most important thing to her in her hands

Sage felt his jaw drop as she spoke, but he quickly embraced her. "Never," he noted softly. "The only way I'd leave you was if you found someone who made you happier could care for you better. And he took my place." He offered her a small smile. "Only if you'd be happier elsewhere would I let you go."

Amira felt tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry if I upset you...I'm so sorry..."
| |

Sage shook his head. "You didn't," he promised softly, pressing a kiss to her head and wrapping his arms tightly around her. "I just....wanted to make sure. I worried myself. That was all."
