"That was before we started stealing their cars and stuff" Matt said with a small chuckle, watching as Elowyn pulled in somewhere. He raised his eyebrows as she spoke again, cocking his head in an almost curious way though he knew full well what she was getting at. "Mhm" he mused, waiting a couple more seconds after she had gotten out to do the same, swiping his parents further messages away. Matts gaze landed on Elowyn as he shut his door, raising his eyebrows at the position she had taken up on the roof. He didn't say much at first, just climbed up and propped himself next to her, gazing over the scenery in front of him. It was a lot more relaxing than he had felt himself in quite some time. No petty theft, angry parents, or chaos-filled biker gangs/meets. Just silence. Well, kind of. "And how long are you planning on us staying here?" he asked, his voice soft but his eye contact with Elowyn strong.

Wyn gave Matt a wry grin as he mirrored her, climbing up next to her. She focused back on the city, letting out a small breath. No loud cars. No blasting music. No yelling. Just... the wind. The trees. It was peaceful, to say the least. She lightly tilted her head back, stifling a small yawn and closing her eyes for a moment. She opened her eyes to meet his gaze as he spoke, leaning back to prop herself up with her elbows. She held his gaze for a few moments after he finished speaking, contemplating her answer and cursing herself for the stupid stutter her heart gave at the eye contact. "As long as you want to." She answered simply, her tone soft as she laid down fully, clasping her hands over her stomach as she tore her gaze away and focused on the sky instead.

Matte eyes were trained on Elowyn as she spoke, though he brought it back to the sky after a couple of seconds, staring at a couple stars next to each other. "Not the best idea to let me decide when to leave" he said with a small smile, looking as she laid herself down, though decided against doing the same. Instead, he decided to let his legs swing over the side of the car, gently tapping the passenger side window and staring off over the cliff for a good couple of silent minutes. There wasn't much to say, and in all honesty Matt was somewhat relaxed just by her presence. Not something he thought he would end up thinking. After some time though, Matt hauled his legs from the side of the window to avoid getting it too dirty, turning himself to look at Elowyn. "You still hate me as much as before?" he asked with his head cocked to the side, though his tone was far from snarky as it usually was. In this case, Matt was..curious. If she asked the same question he certainly knew what his answer would be.

"Says who?" Wyn teased, curling up a little and glancing at Matt as he dangled his legs over the side of the car. She studied him intently for a few moments, then focused on the sky again. The silence was... comfortable. She didn't feel compelled to fill it, which was nice. She closed her eyes for a few moments, opening them again when she heard the soft swishing of his clothing as he turned back around. She thought for a moment and offered him a smile, tilting her head to the side. "What do you think?" She asked, sitting up slightly to get closer to him.

Matt shrugged at Elowyns words though didn't think to utter any type of reply, instead just staring down at his hands in silence for a good couple of seconds. His response to her further comment was yet another shrug, but followed by a small smile, his gaze locking onto hers. "I dunno, that's why I asked. You're hard to read" he said, speaking softly and quietly. Matt thought for a couple of seconds and watched as she sat up a little, his words faltering. A couple of days ago he would have been able to craft a perfectly harsh and sarcastic comment to cover up his genuine questions, but now he just seemed to hardly be able to speak. He was probably just tired. "But if you wanted a genuine answer, that would be a no. You've not hurled any insults at me just yet. Maybe if even go so far as to say you like the company huh?" he asked, eventually being able to push through that same teasing tone with an equal teasing smile.

Wyn tilted her head at his silence, peering slightly up at him while She awaited an answer. She smiled at his soft tone, lifting herself up a little more, her chest a few inches from his. "Just... what you think. That's all I want to know. If you're wrong, I'll correct you." She shrugged, offering him a soft, slightly playful smile. It grew into a small grin as he continued, and she gave a slight chuckle, glancing off at the city for a moment before focusing back on him. "You're not wrong. I'd assume making out- what- three times now? Would be enough to tell you were, at least, not enemies." She joked.

Matt's eye contact was nothing short of strong as Elowyn finally spoke, and once she had finished, he was glad he had asked the question in the first place. "Mhm" he said quietly, tearing his gaze away after a couple seconds of silence, swinging his legs back over the side of the car to stretch them. "And three is all you're gonna get." He said teasingly, looking back with a playful wink. In all truth he didn't want his own words to be the case, but he still couldn't let that on. Well, not with straight words at least. After about a minute or so more Matt jumped down from the room, careful not to catch himself on the wingmirror, looking back up at Elowyn. "We should probably get going now, i don't exactly want to give my father a heart attack" he said with a small laugh, stuffing his phone in his pocket. "Yet" he mumbled, then looking back up at Elowyn. Matt held his hands out by means of offering help and nodded his head towards the drivers door with a. smile. "Are you driving or am i?" he asked, cocking his head to the side.

Wyn grinned at what sounded like a dare to her, sitting fully upright as he turned. "Is that a challenge?" She chimed playfully, smiling at his wink. Challenge accepted. She took a glance back at the sky, moving closer to Matt when he jumped off and smiling down at him. "No, that wouldn't be good, would it?" She mocked, sliding lightly off the roof of the car and into her arms. She set her hands lightly on his shoulders, stepping closer to him and sliding one hand up to rest on his neck. "I'd say your parents will hate us less if you drive back." She suggested, skimming her hand up to play with his hair nonchalantly, as if she hadn't firmly settled herself within his arms.

"As much of a challenge as you want it to be" Matt said playfully, watching her intensely as she slid down from the roof and quite firmly into his arms. He didn't make any move to shuffle away, or leave his arms hanging by his side, instead simply waited for Elowyn to finish speaking in silence. Once she had, Matt looked down, his gaze flitting from one eye to the other. "Maybe." He said quietly, tensing just a little at the feel of her hands on his neck and playing with his hair. He lifted one hand and gently skimmed his thumb over her bottom lip, his other hand rested on her waist, where it had been since she slid down from the roof. "You're beautiful" he said quietly, taking a couple more seconds to hold her gaze before stepping back, taking his hands away and clasping them together. "But you can pretend I didn't say that. Come on, get in" Matt smiled, offering a playful wink before getting in the drivers side, gesturing for Elowyn to join. His mind was racing, and though he didn't regret his words, he couldn't help but wonder how she would actually take that. Edited at August 2, 2024 01:34 AM by Wayside Wilds

"Then consider it a challenge accepted." Wyn teased, going a little short of breath as he settled a hand on her waist. She peered up at him intently as he glanced between her eyes, tilting her head slightly. She parted her lips just slightly to make it easier for him to trace her bottom lip, a little stunned by the compliment. He had never... given her one of those before. Because she couldn't formulate a verbal response, she gently grasped his wrist and brought his thumb back to her lips, pressing a light, feathered kiss against the pad of his finger before she released him. She gave a soft chuckle as she snapped out of it, getting into the car with a smile. "Mm; no, I don't think I will." She said playfully, settling in her chair. Clear and happy on the outside, a little confused on the inside.
