Zephyr almost looked shocked at her response. She was okay with that? Honestly it sounded a little creepy from his point of view, but he had said it. "I'm assuming that means we're okay to be friends?" He asked, his voice so tentative and quiet it was kind of adorable. He nodded, a small nod, at her question. A friend. He might have a real friend. Like, Peter was great but.. they hardly spent much time together. Pete was busy. Too busy for Zephyr. So this.. well.... this would mean a lot. Sophia was the nicest person he had met in a long time.

He had barely gotten the words out before she had wrapped her arms around him in a loose hug. "Those are the nicest words anyone has ever told me. Ever. Even if it wasn't specifically to me. Either way it's the most good I have ever heard about me in the same conversation. This sounds prideful doesn't it" she stepped back. "Whoops..." she looked down "friends. Yeah" a smiled was covering her face. About two seconds later, a soft music started and people made their way to a dance floor in the middle of the room. She longingly looked over at some of the people as they danced.

Zephyr looked a little surprised again, but a second later he hugged her back before stepping back as she did. "Really? How could someone not say nice stuff about you... sorry if that sounds really weird, but I'm pretty sure I could write a whole book about your awesome personality, even though I've only spoken to you for a week." He answered, then shook his head. "Not prideful at all." He added, then smiled, a real smile, a very happy smile, at her next words. Friends. Real friends. This felt WAAAYYY better than scoring a basketball hoop. Better than anything he could ever think up. He noticed her gaze outward, hesitating a second. "...care to dance? A tiny little microscopic bit?" He asked slowly, again rather tentative.

Sophia's smile had to have been the biggest she had ever smiled. She chuckled "a whole book huh? It doesn't sound weird" she looked back at the dance floor fore turning to him with she eyes wide. "Really?" She asked like a child. "I'd love to" she managed to collect herself just enough to answer without sounding childish. She pushed through the crowd of people before finding a nice open spot on the floor.

Zephyr laughed a little. "I'll get to work on that then." He joked, nodding when she asked really, a little amused. At her answer he followed her out on the floor. "I have to warn you, my dancing skills are sub-par but I won't step on your feet." He joked quietly with a small smile before *cough cough* assuming position (I dunno, the most I've danced before is to the song Happy Dance by MercyMe XD. If you haven't heard it, listen to it. SO HILARIOUS)

Lol ok I will) - Sophia laughed "that's ok. I'm not much of a dancer either. We can suffer together." She put her hands on his shoulders and looked around with a smile. She felt happy. Actually happy.

Zephyr grinned a little. Heeeyy! This day just got better and better! Now he had a suffer buddy. He felt his his heart was going to explode. He was so happy. Yesterday he won the game, today he made a real friend, a real amazing friend too, he got Lydia off his back, and tomorrow he got to watch his newfound friend totally win in a great softball game. This was perfect.

Sophia kept an even pace as she danced, her eyes closing occasionally as she took deep, happy breaths. She would open her eyes to look at Zephyr before glancing around the room. More and more eyes noticed her partner and would watch them. She felt a little uneasy and her posture changed. She was a little more uptight, her muscles tensing slightly.

Zephyr was used to the staring by now, but he could tell Sophia wasn't. As he attempted to keep pace he also slowly sidled to the side of the dance floor and pulled her with him, till they were more concealed and harder to see. "I'm sorry about the people. Believe me, I'd give anything to be the least popular person ever." He finally commented quietly, holding back the want to glare at everyone until they either looked away or melted.

Sophia shook her head "it's ok. There's nothing we can do about them. All we can do is ignore them and keep on going." She looked up and gave a small smile. Her dress complimented the slight curve of her waist nicely as she moved and the bottom line of fabric was right against the ground. She forced herself to keep her head up. She knew that in most movies and things, the girl would lean her head against the guy or drape her arms over his shoulders. She knew the shoulders one wasn't happening. Zephyr was too tall. Sophia didn't know how he would react if this random girl that he had known for a week suddenly decided she was going to use him as a human pillow.
