Sage chuckled slightly at Luther's eye tool then glanced over at the boy when he asked the question. He hummed thoughtfully and shrugged. "I suppose so. Usually I make a point to stay away from the guy, but if he sees me he doubles down on me." He shrugged. "Usually I'm unconscious before I make connections other than 'yeah that's dad I may or may not die tonight'." He looked ahead of him again and hugged out a breath. "Not that he'll actually let me die," he grumbled. "But I'll manage. I always do." It was true, and he really had no other choice but to keep on living. But Anya and Luther helped in their own way. He chuckled slightly at a sudden thought. "It's even more unsettling when he's drunk," he all but giggled. He wasn't sure why he was laughing...it really wasn't funny.

Luther wrinkled his nose at the boy. He really couldn't imagine his own father doing something like that to him. But he also supposed that it would almost be seen as... normal... in the slums. It probably hadn't helped Sage's case to run off to the castle, where he was being looked after, fed, and watered better than... well, most people in the entire kingdom. In truth, the boy was being treated as the next best thing to royalty... not that the workers in the castle liked it, but it was true all the same. Anya and Luther treated the boy like someone equal to them. "I can't imagine being scared of my father... then again, I'm also twice his size." he hummed, trying to sound a little amused... well, it wasn't working too well. Any shimmer of a smile kind of disappeared at the last bit Sage had said, though. "What, it gets worse? Sage, you were a mess when we got to you... how the hell does it get more unsettling," the boy questioned, a genuine curiosity written on his face. Partly because he was laughing... sure this kind of thing was absolutely nothing to laugh about, right?

Sage chuckled again, though nothing Luther had said was funny. "yeah, well, I can't seem toa manage to fight him," he mused. "Well, nothing's broken and I'm not like...bleeding out on the ground somewhere. I guess there's that." He wasn't even sure that was a good thing....death had its perks still. Right now, he was really only here because he couldn't really get himself killed at the castle. Just because he didn't wasn't it as much didn't mean he didn't want it at all.

Luther kind of hummed a reply, not really much of a reply at all if he was being honest. "I suppose if you're not staining perfectly white snow with your blood then thats a good thing," he shrugged, his voice almost sarcastic. He really couldn't see what was so funny, or why Sage was laughing about it. It wasn't amusing... like at all. They were pretty much talking about a near death experience the boy had... well that was a bit of a stretch, but a scary experience nonetheless, and for some reason Sage was laughing about it. "Hey, you didn't answer my question?" He murmured curiously, his head slightly cocked. He didn't have to answer... but Luther would definitely like a rough answer.

Sage shrugged and nodded. "It's a shame to ruin good snow," he half joked. He was joking, though it quite obviously wasn't a laughing matter. Luther seemed to get that, and was getting a bit... awkward, he supposed. But the boy had brought it up, so he'd get an answer. Sage huffed out a breath and then sighed. "Like I said, I'll manage. The nightmares are a bit worse and everything hurts like hell, but I'll live."

Luther raised a brow and shrugged a little. He didn't care about getting an answer, but he was curious enough. Although the answer he had gotten was a bit... vague, it was an answer all the same so he wasn't overly bothered. "I know. Ruining perfectly white snow with your commoner's blood, how dare you!" he yelped sarcastically, rolling his eyes a little. He was fine just walking about, but he did think it would be good for them to find something fun to do. Nothing too straining... when he thought about it, he realized all they did was eat together. That was fine with him too, Luther liked his food, but that did give him a bit of an idea. "What would you say to taking over the kitchen and kicking the cooks out?" he asked with a childish giggle.

Sage chuckled at Luther's joke...a laugh that actually meant something. "I'm less than a simple commoner and you know it," he laughed, nudging the boy slightly. "Just means I can do nothing and annoy more people," he said in a good humored voice. When Luther mentioned invading the kitchen, he got a big grin on his face and nodded. "That sounds like fun." He wrinkled his nose slightly. "I haven't been all that hungry recently though." Oh, well, it would still be fun to kick the cooks out. Maybe start a food fight. He changed course so they were hiking through the trees in the direction of one of the secret passageways that led to the kitchen.

Luther grinned with a kind of childish giggle. "We don't gotta eat... but we could go mess around. Maybe chuck some food around," he hummed, a very clear amusement in his voice. Despite his rather large figure and tendency to yell at people on the constant guy was a child at heart... so he was a little excited to mess around. "Or we could even chuck some stuff in the cook and see what happens... or..." he trailed off, listing all kinds of trouble they could get into with kicking everyone out of the kitchen.

Sage giggled and nodded, more than happy to chuck some food around. "There's quite a few things we could do once we get in there," he giggled childishly. Maybe that was why he and Luther got along so well...they were pretty scary looking guys, until you got to know them and realized they were really just dorks with the brains of a two year old. He slipped through the woods easily, occasionally pausing to wait as Luther lumbered along behind him. Once the got the the secret passageway, he slipped inside and crept into it and then stopped outside the door that led into the kitchen. "So. What do you wanna do," he whispered to Luther. "We gotta go in with a bang," he giggled, bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet slightly like a young child.

Luther hummed in thought, trying to think of a way to sneak in... They definitely had to make a decent entrance, to say the least. "We could just storm in there screaming at the top of our lungs..." he murmured, a childish grin still set heavy into his face. He rocked back and forth on his heels and toes, excitedly bobbing up and down. "We could scare them until they all scatter and lock the door once they leave... that way they won't be able to get back in!" he squeaked like a young child.
