"Listen, i'm gonna get to the point real quick. No, i'm not embarrassed that he saw us kissing. Yes, i'd rather not get kicked out because of it and since he decided 'oh im going to stop fucking random chicks' and then gets jealous seeing us since he could never relate to a mostly healthy relationship." She started, a edge to her voice as she spoke before softening it and letting out a huff. "So look, I pushed you away because of that. No other reason....make sense?" Emery asked softly, still leaning on the doorframe.

Noah hesitated. He shrugged after a moment. "Yeah, whatever, its fine, really, I'm fine," he lied, keeping himself tucked behind that wall he'd built. He rolled away from her and curled up in bed.

Emery went and layed next to him, noting how he went from loving on her to turning away even after he said he was fine. "No, you're not." She said softly, already seeing through it.

"I'm fine..." he muttered.

"Noah, I know when you're not," she started softly.

"Fine, if you say so.." She trailed off, slipping under the covers as she grew tired.

Noah stayed awake that night, not sleeping a wink. He felt awful, pushing her away, but it was the only way he knew how to protect his emotions.

Emery awoke the next morning, feeling like shit, per usual for a non morning person. "Morning," She grumbled, sitting up. The woman lingered on the edge of the bed for a minute, looking back at Noah. "Just know that i'll listen to you, it's best to not 'protect yourself' since in the end, you're probably not. Just....just know that, 'kay?" She asked of him, standing and walking to the kitchen.

Noah didn't say a word to her. He thought about it thought. Eventually, he hauled himself out of bed and wandered into the kitchen. He'd decided in order to protect himself, he wouldn't talk to her about it all, and he'd distance himself a little. No kissing again, nothing more. He was just protecting himself.
