Adele listened, shocked that anyone would treat their children like that. "Absolutely not! I mean, they've yelled a few times, when I was younger, if I did something really wrong, but nothing worse than that! I'm so sorry that's how you grew up!" Adele was truly horrified and outraged that anyone could get parenting so wrong.

"Really? Huh..." Caelan muttered, confused still. "But that's not how I'd treat ou- my kids." He said, his face turning beet red and his eyes broke contact with hers

Adele smiled as he corrected himself, knowing what he had been about to say. "I think it's horrible that anyone would treat a child, or even a young adult, like that as a teaching method. It is most definitely the wrong way." Adele fingered the daggers on her sheath. "Though I do think it's wrong that I never got any self-defense training."

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I forgot" He said, gently letting her go and getting up. He extended his hand toward her, offering to help her up before leading her gently to the middle of the field. "Okay, just watch me and copy after." He instructed softly, happy to be patient if she needed him to be. He helped her for nearly 3 hours, leading her through different deadly moves and letting her take a swing at him a few times. He got knicked by herblade once or twice, but he didn't mind. He watched her grace as she moved lethally, catching on rather quickly. During a spar, he dropped his dagger and disarmed her as well, shooting forward to grab her around the waist and tackle her gently to the ground but keeping her atop of him. He alughed and kissed her, unable to help himself. "You're so pretty" He said softly, quietly, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear with a soft smile

"Wait, that's not what I--" Adele started, before giving in and following Caelan to the clearing. She was refreshed and ready to work, so she mastered techniques quickly, though she was still awkward and forgot where to put her feet often. She was a little worried when she nicked him with her daggers, but he seemed unfazed, so she brushed it off. When Caelan pulled her over on top of him, she was caught off guard a little. Adele tentatively kissed him back, before rolling off and onto her back, so she was looking up at the sky. She wasn't totally comfortable with being on top of him. "Thank you," She said in response to his comment about her beauty. She lay in silence for a little while, watching the clouds float by, before saying, "Thank you for being willing to teach me how to fight. Though I do think it's wrong that anyone fights each other, a queen has to be prepared." Adele looked over at Caelan, hoping she hadn't made him feel bad when she hadn't really kissed him back.

"Honestly, I feel like it should be mandatory for all members of royalty--maids and servants included." He noted, smiling and tucking his hands behind his head in an image of relaxation (Idk if that's a word but u get the point). "Adele?" He began, wanting to keep his voice soft. "You asked me a while back why I'd given you the job while knowing who you were and I said it was because I recognized you. I honestly was certain a knight or even my father would take advantage of you--especially someone asbeautiful and kind as yourself--even though someone would try to stop them. I was trying to protect you and I hope you don't regret coming to my kingdom?"

"I agree." Adele said, then listened to what Caelan was saying. She spoke slowly, so as to keep her thoughts aligned. "Of course I don't regret coming here. I've learned so much about, well, everything, and I met you." Adele smiled kindly at the prince, then looked back up at the sky, which was slowly growing darker. She sighed. "We should probably head back soon, before it gets too dark." As soon as she finished talking, she heard the distinct sound of a horse, neighing in fear. Adele's eyes widened and she quickly stood up, alarmed. "That's Calvin!"

"Shit" He muttered, launching up and helping Adele up before sprinting toward the sound

Adele heard Caelan say a word she had been forbidden to say, before snatching up her daggers, sheathing them, and dashing after Caelan towards where she had last seen the horses. Adele burst out of the woods onto the plateau to a sight that made her stop in her tracks. (So ummmm I have no idea what's going on with the horses)

Just gonna pop smth in here...) Caelan watched as two cougars stalked and swiped at their horses. Caelan was seething, watching the trickles of blood and cuts on both of their horses. "Stay here" He said softly to Adele as he unsheathed two of his daggers and ran toward the fight. He barely dodges a flying hoof and a wiping paw before stabbing one cougar in the neck and the other getting it's claws on him. The remaining cougar dragged it's claws down his back, steraight through the damaged skin and scars and where his wings usually were. Caelan screamed in pain and outrage, turning to keep the animal's jaws out of him
