"Ah. I didn't know he played football." She slipped her hand back watched the girl recede into the shade. She didn't give Luke any acknowledgement, simply clenching her jaw slightly at the open invite. "We would love to have you. We should probably head back now. Im sure you're very tired." She smiled cheerily, turning brusquely away from Luke and dropping her smile while weaving her way back through the forest, trying to stick to the most well-lit path she knew, gripping her bow like it was about to run away from her.

He looked between them, he could see the ridgedness in her actions, mainly her hand. The way she held the bow. He wasn't sure how Mary was feeling but he was ever so slightly intimidated ..a lot. Mary smiled softly. M "Thank you both so much." He started walking, Mary into step beside him with Mercy in the lead. He picked up idle conversation with the blonde as they moved toward their house. He was completely oblivious to the route, whereas Mary had definitely noticed. She moved off every so often to get on his other side if there was more shade on it and pick something up off the ground in mild desperateness. Her hands shook.

She slipped into the small clearing with their house. "Mary, why don't you go on inside? I want you to get comfortable. Luke and I can make something for food." She turned and smiled at the girl, putting her bow over her shoulder and giving Luke a pointed 'we need to talk' look. She grabbed the rabbit out of their game bag and popped it by the fire pit, waiting until Mary was out of earshot.

Mary nodded, a sweet smile on her face at the invitation to go out of the sun. Luke let Dutch run out of the house, he tucked tail at the sight of Mary, running behind Mercy. Mary ignored such and walked inside. He looked at Dutch, sighing heavily as he shut the door behind Mary. He hopped down all of the steps off the side, then to the firepit. He sat down and slipped off the rifle and backpack, passing a glance to Mercy.

She gave Dutch a few sympathetic pats and walked over to Luke, grabbing him by the wrist and marching him to the other side of the yard, glancing at the house before whisper yelling at him. "What the fuck Luke? You just invited a fucking misted to our house. And dont even try to say she isnt because she has every. Obvious. Symptom." She glared at the house and then up at him. "Why the fuck?" She seemed... very tense, to say the least.

He glared at her, he really hadn't wanted to think about that. "What symptoms? Didn't you see she had no bite marks? No scratches? What would she have done? Kiss a Misted?" He said with a hostile tone, he didn't want to believe it either. "She decayed, she can hold a conversation quite easily, have you ever seen a Misted do that?" He glanced at the house, slightly starting to doubt.

"Visible bitemarks. Or scratches. Legs? Torso? Guess who didn't check there? Your ass. Fucking 'Burn Marks' on her face? She is a rotting time bomb. And did it ever." She took a step closer to him. "Fucking." She took another step, so she was chest to chest with him. "Occur to you that she could easily be transforming? Shes obviously sensitive to light, she can barely handle us talking at a normal level. What else do you need?"

He looked down at her, glancing between her eyes as she got nearer. He clenched his jaw, looking off to glance at the forest. "Did it occur that maybe shes not? What do you want me to do? Shoot an innocent girl who may not even be fucking infected?" His voice cracked a little. He didn't want to say what it was a girl he knew, that might scare him more. She sighed and put her head in her hands. "Im not saying that, Luke. I know you have a... connection to her. I understand that. But you cant let that blind you into lying to yourself." She looked up and bit her lip. "Not when that lie risks you being bitten. Or Dutch. You two are all I have out here, and I can't..." She sighed. "I've lost enough people already. But just... be aware, okay?" She walked off to sit by the fire and skin the rabbit. She pulled out a dagger and set to work quietly.

He stared down at her, taking a deep breath, an unsure look on his face. He exhaled, it came out shaky but he tried not to let the nervousness show. "Just-, ..just give me til tomorrow. I'll figure it out." He said softly, taking a step back as she walked off. He watched her walk off, then stared at the ground.
