Regan groaned a little bit early in the morning, a small sigh escaping her when she heard the cracks coming from the tree next to her. Her eyes fluttered open for a moment, looking towards Tyler before closing her eyes again. "God, was that your back?" She asked with furrowed brows, then curled back up into herself as she tried to stay warm.

Tyler flinched. "Yes, it.. indeed... in fact.. was." He muttered, trying to look up far enough he could see the Leicester of bark in his hair. He turned his head upside down and shook. At least 50 little pine needles and snitches of bark fell out. Tyler grunted, stretching again before looking around. It was probably almost 7 AM... that was early for him to wake up. He couldn't believe he woke up early.

Regan wrinkled her nose a little bit and shivered... she hated noises like that... it was like bones cracking, and it was awful. "Why would you do that," she murmured, though when she heard twigs cracking in the distance, her eyes shot open and looked towards the noise, snarling coming from that direction. She stared at it, and looked around her... her bag of weapons was in the little hollow tree, and she was frozen for a few moments... it was like she was stuck there, so she just kind of stared over at Tyler as she waited for him to do... well, anything.

Tyler groaned. "I didn't try to, silly. It just happens-" he stopped as he heard the sarling, looking alert. Tyler crept forward slightly, peering through the bushes. A freakin COUGAR had gotten through his traps?! It was rabid.. too. Tyler stepped backwards. "Get. In. The. Tree." He ordered. He glanced around, not seeing his dog. Obviously out hunting, trying to be helpful. Tyler muttered under his breath. The cougar lopsidedly fell through the bushes, then saw Tyler. It got up with a snarl, staggering towards him. He pulled out a couple daggers from the belt he always kept with him, hidden under his shirt. Then the cougar pounced. Tyler dodged by an inch, the cougar crashing into the tree. He threw a dagger, hitting it in the neck but it didn't seem to care. It just flung itself at him again while he was trying to get another dagger out, but it kept getting stuck on his shirt. "Hang it all" he muttered, ripping the shirt and and throwing four daggers at once, one hitting the cougars eye, another hitting its chest, the other two hitting its neck. It fell to the ground... dead.

Regan tried to get to the hollow when she was told to do so, but she just... couldn't. She couldn't move. It was awful... she should help, somehow, because it wasn't difficult to throw a knife or two, but she just... couldn't. When she saw Tyler jump into action, she couldn't help but feel complete and utter panic for him... she didn't want him to get hurt. She wouldn't have cared a few days ago, but she didn't want anything bad to happen to him. She watched with wide eyes for a few moments as the animal fell to the ground, then managed to unfreeze herself and practically sprinted over to him. She looked him over for a minute, running her hands over his shoulders and down his arms, then cupped his cheek with a hand. "It didn't hurt you, did it? No cuts or bites or anything?" she asked hurriedly with furrowed brows.

"Ow ow ow the only thing that hurts is my old back." He attempted to make a joke, yet it really did. Running around so quickly after waking up inflamed his scars. "Really, I'm fine." He shook his head, looking at the dead animal. Raptor suddenly trotted in the clearing, wagging his tail with a rabbit in his mouth. His sat like, 'How's it going?' Tyler stared at him in complete awe. "You missed something buddy." He said gruffly, pulling back on his shirt. It hurt when the shirt brushed against the wounds on his back but the cougar hadn't even touched him. "I promise, the cougar didn't touch me at all." Tyler murmured, dragging it outside camp. He then figured out why his trap didn't spring. Caught on a growing plant. Really? He cut the top of the plant and the trap sprung upward... and Tyler had been standing on the wrong side. "For Pete crying out loud, can this day get any Worse?" He groaned, hanging ten feet in the air in another net. Edited at April 7, 2023 04:14 PM by Wild Warmbloods

Regan looked to him after a few moments, still very obviously concerned for him... if he had even been nicked by the animal, it could kill him... she didn't want that. She watched him wander over to the trap, then jumped when he was sprung into the air. She looked up at him with a small pout. "How does that feel?" She huffed before looking around. "How do get you down without somehow hurting you?" She asked with a laugh.

Tyler groaned, exhaustion and fear from the attack taking over. He just went limp, trying to get rid of the pain in his back. "You don't." He said to answer her last question. There just wasn't a way for HER to get HIM down without hurting him. The best way would be to lower him down manually... and she didn't have enough strength for that when she was hurt... and he weighed almost a hundred pounds more than her. The best way and this point is cut it and let him drop. Tyler took off his belt of daggers, tossing them down. "Just cut the line." He muttered, preparing for a painful impact Edited at April 7, 2023 04:14 PM by Wild Warmbloods

The girl frowned and moved the belt from under him before grabbing a little dagger from the satchel. She glanced back up at him after a moment before shrugging. "Ready?" She asked for a moment, and she quickly cut the line for him once he answered. He fell with a thump, causing the girl to wince. She sat down next to him where he laid, pouting. "Bet falling was fun," she huffed bitterly to him.

Tyler hit the ground and heard a small crack, his ribs flaring with pain. All the wind got blown out of him, and he gasped for breath. He wished he hadn't put the trap up so high... the man just laid there, breathing shallowly. He hoped to high heaven that crack wasn't a rib breaking... when he tried to sit up and pain shot through him he knew it was. "I should not have said... can this... day get any worse..." he murmured quietly, his eyes closed.
