Celeste nodded, leaning on him and holding him close.

Sage just curled up with her, glad to have her comfort. He was glad to know what happened too, he supposed ....not glad it happened but now he had the closure for it all.

Celeste comforted him. "When I held him, he took my hair and chewed on the ends, just like Lizzie did the first time I held her,"

Sage just shook his head wordlessly, closing his eyes as if trying to block out the pain. "God," he just managed to get out. "I should've noticed they were gone sooner. Should've..done something.." .

Celeste let go of the triplets, who all scattered to go play with their toys and Lizzie. Celeste pulled him into a tight hug. "Its not your fault... you were at work, she was cruel... there was nothing you could've done,"

Sage let her pull him into the hug, just melting into her and shaking his head. "I should've known better to leave him with her," he mumbled
| |

"And then what? Get beaten by your boss? Lose your job, their only provider?" she offered gently.

Sage scoffed slightly. "Well he'd find some way to beat me anyway," he noted with a sigh. "I dunno, I should've done ... something," he added
| |

"There's nothing you could've done... it's okay,"

Sage just sighed, wishing he could believe that. He knew, really, she was right...he just couldn't convince himself of it. That he wasn't the problem. If he hadn't been a werewolf she wouldn't have had two babies. None of it would have happened. He just relaxed into Celeste silently, glad for her comfort.
