Hours later, Lorelei was finally stable. A doctor approached him in the waiting room. "She's stable for now. She has a lot of internal trauma. She's still hypothermic, her body is slowly heating up. She's still unconscious, but you may go see her now," the doctor spoke.

Kai thanked him and rushed to his girl's side. "Oh my God, baby, I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I failed you. I promised to protect you and failed... My beautiful girl" he said, tears flowing down his cheeks as he sat beside her and held her hand

Lorelei remained unconscious for the next few hours.

Kai waited and waited

Loreleis eyes flickered open, seeing doubles of the ceiling. "Ngh... Kai...?" She breathed.

"Oh my god, baby." He breathed with relief, hugging her carefully. "I'm so sorry I failed you, lorelei. I'm so, so sorry, baby"

Lorelei melted into hsi embrace, crying slowly. "Kai, shut up," she whispered hoarsely. "You didn't fail me," she whispered. "You got me back," she whispered, leaning up and kissing him.

He kissed her back, holding her close

Lorelei clung onto him weakly.

"I promise they will never take you from me again. I swear." He breathed shakily
