Sage heard her, but really only managed a sleepy hum in response. He knew he'd need her more than ever after this, at least for the next few nights at least, maybe during the day, though there wasn't really a chance of nightmares or flashbacks then unless something really bad happened. Either way, having someone by his side helped...even Luther helped, the sweet old lug. But right now, he was just hoping for a good night's sleep, without the interruption of nightmares. He doubted it would happen, though. He had figured right...he'd only need asleep for a few hours before he jolted awake in a panic, and then tried to crawl out of bed as quietly as possible and slipped into the bathroom. He didn't want to wake up Anya ...she'd been sleeping peacefully. Part of him wanted to wake her up, but he knew shed been tired too. So, he just closed the door behind him and tried to take a deep breath. It didn't really work, though, so he really just ended up sliding down the wall into a sitting position. His head started hurting, flashbacks pressing against his brain, so he scratched at the wound on his chest...the one from the knife his father had used, opening it up again, without even thinking.

Anya didn't pay much mind when the boy left the bed... it was still early, so she assumed he'd be back in a short while. She was tired, so found herself just slipping back into sleep. She was exhausted, but she found that she couldn't slip back into the comfortable deep sleep she was once in. Most likely because she wasn't wrapped around Sage anymore, didn't have his warmth or the comfort of his slow breaths anywhere near her. She sat peacefully for a little while, not quite asleep but not conscious enough to do anything. It had been a little while, about half an hour, maybe, so she found herself getting a little worried about the boy, which made getting back into a deep sleep even harder. Eventually, she gave up trying and got up, tiredly picking up a blanket to keep herself warm. She waddled over to the bathroom before knocking gently on the door. "Is everything alright?" she asked softly, her voice husky with sleep as she leaned against the door, still not quite conscious enough to fully take in what was going on.

Sage jumped when Anya knocked on the door, drawing his knees closer to his chest as his heart practically lept out of his chest. Once he realized it was just her, he calmed down a bit, though he was quite obviously still freaking out a bit. Though, the girl wouldn't know that. He tried to settle his breathing, not that it was working real well. Wait, crap, he had to answer the girl's question. He was torn between asking her to come into the bathroom or telling her to go back to sleep...She needed the rest too. He managed to squeak out "I'll be fine," attempting to sound normal and not at all like he was, well, having a panic attack in the corner of the bathroom. He wasn't so sure he succeeded, though the girl was tired...maybe she'd just leave. Part of him wanted to take the words, back, to call her to him, but she had enough to worry about.

The girl lent back on the door slightly taking in a deep breath to wake herself up a little. She heard his holler, saying he'd be fine, but she didn't quite believe it. His answer wasn't overly convincing... she'd picked up something in his voice right away. He'd been in there a while, and she was admittedly a little concerned "You sure? You've been in there a while," she breathed quietly, sliding down the door so she was sitting against it. She was so tired, but something didn't seem quite right, and she didn't just want to ignore it, no matter how exhausted she was. If he insisted he was fine, though, she wouldn't argue... she'd either just crawl back to the bed or wander back to her own room so she wasn't worrying herself any further.

Sage just started laughing when she asked if he was sure. No, he wasn't sure, and he wasn't ok...the girl had probably figured that out. "If you want in then come in," he finally sighed. "I'm ..managing." He wiped the blood from his chest of the floor around him as best he could, and while he was still bleeding, it would be less concerning for the girl if she didn't notice how much he was bleeding. Besides, he did need her, more than he was letting on.

Any closed her eyes as she waited for a response, but stood up once she was invited in, taking a moment to gather herself before peaking through the door. She wasn't sure what she had expected, but it wasn't him on the floor, shaking like a leaf and bleeding. She kind of stood there for a moment, waking herself up a little as she assessed what was going on. The girl sighed before wandering over and kneeling in front of him, kind of going mother bird instantly. "God, you're bleeding," she noted quietly, starting to unbutton his shirt to have a look at what was bleeding. She sighed before wandering over to the sink, grabbing a rag and dampening it down before walking back over and gently cleaning his chest up before holding the rag on the re-opened wound.

Sage let her mother bird him as she pleased, letting out a sigh and leaning his head back against the wall behind him. "I know," he sighed. "I have a not-so-great habit of scratching things when I start freaking out over things," he admitted softly. He was still in a bit of a tizzy - his head was spinning and he had a horrible headache, but thankfully the pressing flashbacks had faded a bit now that Anya was in here with him. They didn't stop threatening to stop by for a (uninvited) visit, but he had a bit more sense about him. Not that the panic had ebbed...he was suddenly thankful he hadn't eaten much earlier, or he probably would have thrown up by now...his stomach was definitely just as unhappy with him as his brain.

The girl glanced up at him for a moment, her gaze full of worry as she sat down, still holding the rag to his chest... she'd gotten a lot better with gore since she'd met Sage. Well, being with him meant she didn't get a choice whether she had to deal with it or not. It was either learn to stand it or pretty much throw up at the very sight of Sage. There was blood pretty much wherever he went, so it hadn't taken long for it not to bother her. She cocked her head slightly and kind of held her free arm to his chin. "Yeah, that's not a great habit," she noted with a small chuckle, her thumb running softly over his cheek in a kind of comforting way. "Bad dream?" she asked gently as she shifted so the was sat between his legs, her own crossed as she got comfortable.

Sage hummed in agreement and opened his eyes with another sigh. "You could call it that I suppose." He wrinkled his nose slightly. "More like certain things coming back to screw with my brain." He leaned into the girl slightly, gradually calming down a bit. By no means was he fine now, it was still far from it...his heart was still racing and he was still, admittedly, trying not to throw up. But his muscles were slowly decreasing in tension and he found he was starting to gain control of his thoughts. Now, he knew that didn't mean he still would have a flashback as soon as he thought about something...he'd been fooled like that before. And he would be exhausted but he was terrified of going back to sleep...one issue like this a night was more than enough. But at leat he knew Anya wasn't going to act bad about this whole thing. Well, he knew she wouldn't be mean per say, but his mother had hated that about him. At least, before she died. No one else knew...he'd kept it well hidden in fear of getting the same reaction. But so far, Anya just seemed to care about him even more.

The girl nodded quietly, offering a comforting smile as her hand traveled to the back of his head, playing with his hair for a short moment before pulling away. "Doesn't sound too fun," she murmured, folding the rag over and carefully patting his wound with it before placing it aside. "Do you get them often? What're they about?" She murmured, just trying to get him talking... trying to get his mind off whatever was going on in his head. She was a bit sluggish, sure, but she was never going to get upset with him about something that scared the boy. He couldn't help his dreams or his past... so who was she to vilify him? She just wanted to be there for him and do what she could to help. He deserved that much at least. "Look, why don't you hop in the shower and get cleaned off? I'll wait in the bedroom and when you get out we can just sit and talk. You don't need to go back to sleep if it scares you," she offered, not really wanting him to be sat there covered in his own blood... it wouldn't help the situation, not one bit.
