Eve - that sounds more aligned with me. I would think it might be difficult to make a living from at the same time? I do not want to do something like that to maximize profit of course, but still have enough to focus on it without running out of my own supply for needs.

Void - there are definitely still places in medicine where the root cause is addressed. I was referring to for example, someone having a mental health issue (not one where they have a predisposed genetic factor of course, that requires medication) and rather than trying to figure out what’s causing them to have imbalances and addressing the underlying issue, band-aiding with something that masks over the issue itself and makes it feel as if it was gone, but later realizing the core problem still presides.

let me ask--are you thinking of going to college, and think you need to pick a specific specialty or study to be good at it? because it's completely valid and even a very good thing for many people not to immediately go into school, and to just learn to navigate the "real" world and see if you find something that speaks to you. yes it can make it more difficult to go to school in some cases, but it can also offer a lot more maturity and experience to bring to a schooling scenario when you know you really want to do something

zrek - that's certainly a risk, of course, but all the therapists I've worked with I've been very lucky to have ones who deeply, genuinely care for the wellbeing of their patients, and make the system better as much they can from the inside. without good people in the systems, the systems will only ever be "bad"

...Although, in some cases, fixing the symptoms is literally just a matter of yeeting medicine at someone's head lmao because no therapy in the world is going to correct neurotransmitter issues

O_o no? That definitely doesn't align with medical practice since to 'fix the symptoms' it requires going to the root cause. It's why cognitive behavior therapy is one of the most popular types

Eve - I’ve thought about therapy but then considered the way clinics operate. I feel like I wouldn’t be able to help people because I’d be operating under the systems of the masses - once again instructed to only fix the symptoms and only use specific knowledge. Maybe if it was my own clinic. I just feel like it has a lot of the same corruption as medicine.

zrek - (lol yeah not surprised); even if it's not fixing society, it means the world to the person whose world you touch. and those butterfly effect ripples make all the difference in the end, even if we can't see the impacts and results

Social work can be many different things. You could work for a shelter, such a case manager/social worker. Counseling, Resident Support. Or you could get more into the medical field. My sister is a psychologist at a hospital. She did social work before that. She has a masters in psychology.

Gladius - (autocorrect wants to call you Gladys) thank you, it’s difficult not to treat it as if I am committing to my life’s work - the intensity of it all seems to make it that way. Sometimes I feel like even when I’m trying to do good in the spheres I know I’m only fixing the symptoms of a broken society rather than fixing it at the source. It’s rather draining and makes things feel hopeless. I hope things can change for the better faster than I assume.

Maxine chuckled "Yup... its actually kinda perfect... we can use the crib for the new baby in fact I already moved it into the nursery." she smiled as Charlie hugged her father. Maxine smiled at the two of them "Oh uh are you hungry?" she offered "I can make you something or you can just go hunting?" she suggested happily "Whatever you want to do."

Sage hummed in a happy manner and nodded in response to her first comment, though he was admittedly somewhat distracted, since he was awfully hungry. Surely sage had her serve him meals. She had to serve him something. Or was he her little errand boy, since she's taken ownership of the boy? He chuckled slightly when she offered to cook and nodded. So she was good for something after all. 'i could eat," he mused. "A home cooked meal sounds lovely," he purred.

Maxine smiled "You hang out with Charlie for a bit and have some daddy daughter time and I'll Make you something... is there anything particular you want?" She offered "Or should I just go with my cravings?" She asked "I've been really enjoying steak eggs and potatoes lately..." She admitted her mouth watering at the idea of all that food.

Sage hummed lightly and nodded. He supposed that would be something that would happen. "A good steak sounds fine," he told her. "Corn instead of potatoes would make a good meal," he added before wandering down to sit in the living room with Charlie. He propped his feet up on the couch, leaving mud streaks on the fabric. Surely sage bossed her around a bit, if she was his woman. It seemed like it.
(Sage propped his feet up but not with his shoes on. There's a small difference for her to think about. That and him being definitely more bossy)

Kk) "Sure." She said a little taken back by his assertive tone though she thought she might have been being a bit too sensitive... so she went in and stated dinner though she paused raising a brow "Hey hun remember to take your shoes off please!" She called to him tossing him the end of a roll of paper towels beside him on the couch "Here so you can clean that up." She said offering a small smile "Thanks babe." She said before she turned and started dinner she thought it was a little weird... usually he'd put his feet up but not with his shoes on... she thought... though the thought went to the back of her head as she started dinner. "Rings!" Charlie chirped pointing to one of her favorite toys these little colored rings that hooked together "Dada... rings!" She chirped leaning over to get the rings off the floor with a giggle "This one's my favorite." She squeaked showing him the pastel purple ring practically shoving it into his face.

Sage sighed and kicked his shoes off when Max called over to him. Obviously, that was a household rule, so he may as well follow those if he wanted to go undetected. He threw a glare at her when she tossed the towel at him, though it was just in his eyes. An old, deep anger that sage may not have but he couldn't keep back. "Sure," he said in the sweetest voice possible, though she'd already turned away. He scowled at the daughter when she shoved the rings at him, and picked it up with his thumb and forefinger and giving it a rather disgusted look. It had child spit on it.... gross. He did not sign up for this. "that's great missy," he said, knowing sage had a good relationship with his daughter. "Very....purply."

"Thanks hun!" She chirped happily over her shoulder as she made dinner. "Yeah! Papa Lance gave them to me." She squeaked happily "He said these were some of mama's favorite toys too." She chirped. When dinner was done Max served it at the table and put Charlie in her booster seat that was now in one of the chairs at the table giving her her plastic utensils she had a few small bites of steak and stuff on her plate since she had more teeth now. She was a good little eater for the most part but when it came to the steak she was... difficult to say the least "Come on hun 4 bites of your steak and then you can be done." Max said as Charlie picked at the steak whining a bit.

Sage really paid nj attention to the girl after nodding and playing along with her comment. He picked the dirt out from under his fingernails while she played in his lap until Max said dinner was ready. Then he strode into the kitchen to grab a plate and started eating, not paying much attention to either of the girls/women that were there at the table with him. Once he was done, he sort up just left his dirty dishes there and walked away again to shower and get ready for bed. Regeneration was tiring, and while the tou her body was better than his previous old one, he was still tired.

Max gave a roll of her eyes when Sage finished his dinner, she gave a sigh and got Charlie to finally eat her bites before she let Charlie out of her chair the little girl going and running off to her room to play before her bath while Max washed the plates and silverware leaving the pans for tomorrow morning. When Sage got out of the shower she was helping Charlie pick out her pjs "Could you get the bath going for Charlie please?" Max called "There's a small basket of bath toys on the side no bubbles tonight though!" She called to him as she and Charlie finished picking out her pjs "Few more minutes kiddo... when your bath is ready it'll be time to hop in." She smiled "Maybe if you ask daddy he can do your bath tonight." She smiled the little girl eagerly nodding and going to do just that carrying in her pjs for her dad to put up on the counter "Dada can you do my bath tonight?" She squeaked.

Sage grunted but nodded and chirped out "Sure," to max. He wasn't sure what pet names they used, or if they used any, so he kept it to just that. He grumbled to himself as he went to the bathroom and scowled at the girl's questin before turning to her with a bright smile. "of course," he chirped.
