Quinn huffed quietly. "I guess so. I would not bleed everywhere if I slipped, however." She snorted. Most likely, anyway. She smiled slightly at his kiss, then sighed in acceptance. Yes, she'd probably just have to sit still. "You were horribly injured and it was my fault. I'm mildly injured and it's ... my fault." She grumbled quietly, but accepted help, gritting her teeth in pain as she was moved. Obviously, it was going to hurt for a while. After that, she focused on helping with the fire, especially the herbs and roots, as that was her specialty. The whole thing pretty much exhausted her, even though she barely moved, so she was rather thankful when the food was done. She really hoped it wasn't like this for a whole week.

Sage had snorted in response to her comment about not bleeding out and he gave her a look. "You definitely would," he protested. "Especially if I'm gone for a while," he added. Not that he'd really be leaving her for long at all unless it was obviously very necessary...but still. He'd rather not chance it. He let her help cook for a bit, handing her a herb she'd instructed him to get so she could put it on the wound after a while, watching her closely the whole time. Jack was dead, and probably rotting somewhere by then, but he was still uneasy. Had Jack told anyone about them? What if people knew there was a werewolf out here? They could be in a lot of danger.. the kids would be targets too, and Quinn couldn't really be moved.

Quinn shook her head. "Nope. Would not." She answered stoutly, then snorted. "I can take care of myself, thank you very much." She joked, smiling faintly. As she worked on the food, she tried to focus all of her mind on the task, but she still managed to get distracted by the pain. Getting stabbed did not feel good. She should try and do it less. After the food was done, she glanced around, her emerald gaze seeming to land on every tree in the forest. There were so many spots to hide. To lurk. A slight shudder racked her body. She hated not feeling safe, and yet she had not felt really safe for years now. She didn't think she had EVER felt fully safe, from the time her mother looked at her and scowled to the time Jack attacked her. They had always been running from something. Now was no different.

Sage had simply hummed doubtfully in response to her comment, then shrugged at her next one. "sure you can, but that doesn't mean you should have to," he pointed out with a snort. He was fine to let her sit down and work at the food ...though he did hope she'd tell him if she needed something. He didn't like knowing he could be helping her and just be sitting there perfectly fine while she did the work despite being hurt. It just didn't seem right. But he knew she wanted to help, so he was alright with letting her poke at the food over the fire if it makes her feel better. He did notice her shudder though and pinched his lips together slightly. "He's dead, Quinn," he murmured gently. "He won't be bothering us any more."

Quinn contemplated his words for a couple moments. So true. If only it was that easy. "eat away." She finally said, gesturing at the finished meat. She herself grabbed a small root, but even taking one bite of that made her rather nauseous. The strong smells of the meat didn't help, either. At his quiet words, she glanced over. "He may be, but what about all the other humans out there? The ones who don't know you like I do? Don't understand how amazing and unique you are? What if they come and try to hurt the babies? Or you?" She sighed, worry written across her face. Why was life so complicated?

Sage had grabbed the food when it was done, making sure Quinn has something light to nibble on before diving into the meat himself. He knew she wouldn't want any meat, so he just worked at the meat for a while before glancing over at her when she spoke up. "there's been no signs of other humans for miles ...no closer than before," he pointed out. And then he shrugged. "And if there are signs of people I'll track them down and get rid of them," he said simply.

Quinn barely touched any more food, not wanting to make herself more nauseous. She glanced over at him as he spoke, frowning slightly. "We can't just go around killing humans because they got too close." She said quietly. "We'd be just like how they see us, then." Staring into the distance, she tried to decide what she wanted to do. Obviously, she hated moving around so much, but it may be nearing time to do that again. She just wanted to find a place to settle. And never move again, if she could decide. No humans. Just Sage, Frynn, and Caspian. - (We need more drama plots to put into action. Maybe a couple happy ones for once xD. Have any ideas?) Edited at August 6, 2024 02:21 PM by Wild West Warmbloods

(lol, yeah we do. And I have no idea, well have to brainstorm xD) Sage sighed with a nod in response to her comments, biting his lower lip in thought. "I know. But if we don't, they'll kill us," he said simply. "They'll never accept our kind, no matter how nice we are," he added, a heavy shrug moving his shoulders. He suddenly just looked very...tired. "believe me, I've tried. They don't care," he noted, poking at the fire with a stick, replacing his poker face. It was a hard choice, and in the perfect world he'd have changed the views of creatures by now. He'd be a functional part of society. They wouldn't hunt him and his family down to kill them. But this world wasn't perfect. In fact, it was as far from perfect as it could get. And that wasn't going to change. So, he'd do what he needed to do to keep his family safe. He didn't like the methods needed....but he didn't see any other options.

Quinn closed her eyes, rubbing her temple, worry etched across her face with the way her eyebrows were furrowed. She didn't know what to say to that. It was true... too true. Humans hated them. Hated her for loving a werewolf, hated Sage for who he was, hated the kids for whatever reason they could think up. She opened her eyes to see the exhausted expresion on his fac, the way his shoulders slumped. He had been through hell, and was still in the depths. She sighed heavily and moved to sit right beside him, resting her head on his shoulder. "I don't know what to do." She mumbled, closing her eyes again. If she could, she'd convince everyone that Sage was just like them. It wouldn't ever work, though. She knew that. People would always be like Jack. She twirled one of the strands of her black hair around her finger, staring at it as she did so. She was tired as well, hurt, had two children to take care of, and still, there was always more to do, always things to run from.

Sage sort of moved to lean against Quinn when she moved to sit down next to him, running a tired hand over his face with a small sigh. "I have as much of an idea of what to do as you," he murmured with a small shake of his head. "But the kids are too young to travel far, and you're hurt, so moving again really isn't an option," he admitted after a moment. He'd just have to trust his senses....if a human came he'd know, and if there was more than one he'd definitely know. They could get out of harms way if need be, but it would be preferred to not have that happen. "You and the babies would be safe here....you aren't a werewolf and they're not werewolf enough to show it, so you could divert any crowd away from the house," he pointed out. "I'd just have to hide somewhere." He hated leaving them there alone to face that, but it would be best. They'd find no evidence of a werewolf being there....they would t harm her or the kids then. If he tried to protect them, they'd know.
