Oh definitely, i5was my first time putting a pet down i didn't know they did that lol, caught me off guard but was very sweet
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:21:55 Gladius
stella - yeah lots of them do that to be honest, but it is still a very sweet gesture.
BlackRose
06:20:51 Stella
What's your guys consultation fee? The vets I use is £43-£45 but another vet who specialise in small animals costs about £50-55
BlackRose
06:19:35 Stella
100% when one of my pets had to be put down, they sent a card out. After the bill had been paid lol but I still found it very sweet
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:19:33 Gladius
I agree, yeah! I appreciate when they do that, really just makes sense in my opinion
Cloud Peak Stables
06:18:59 Cloud
Yes, for sure. My closest vet charges $200 up front if you bring the animal TO THEM and then that amount is taken from the total at the end. I think that's completely fair given that they pretty much have to triage emergencies all day every day.
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:16:21 Gladius
all that to say... lol if you've got a good vet, tell them how much you appreciate them. it makes all the crap worth it!
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:15:24 Gladius
yeah definitely
BlackRose
06:15:05 Stella
Oh definitely, the call outs aren't mega expensive but that on top of all the treatment etc does add up lol! I do believe places like America etc overall would be a bit more expensive than UK
Cloud Peak Stables
06:14:11 Cloud
That's a great deal for a call out fee.
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:13:59 Gladius
stella - that feels so inexpensive compared to over here lmao oof

cloud - uuuugh yeah. my mom has all kinds of horror stories...
Cloud Peak Stables
06:13:08 Cloud
And that's all on top of dealing with pet owners...
BlackRose
06:13:02 Stella
That's definitely understandable, I don't own horses but I did look after and care for some and their vet bills weren't cheap, the call out fee was about £50 maybe a little more.
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:12:23 Gladius
and then there's insurance and supplies, equipment upgrades, payment and record systems... like it's no wonder the small practices of yesterday have been snapped up by corporations, they're the only ones with the power to actually keep the damn thing afloat
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:11:42 Gladius
yeah - they've basically got "house call" baked in, their equipment for the most part has to be mobile, there're more years of education to get through, the clientele is generally smaller (although *some are wealthy, which can help but), and the hours are crazy. and that's not counting if you work at a hospital, which would necessitate huge amounts of space and lots of capital to start in the first place (even if you just join staff not own the place)
Cloud Peak Stables
06:11:34 Cloud
Yeah, it's too bad. I don't like getting the bill but I understand why they charge what they do.
BlackRose
06:10:29 Stella
Normal vets are expensive but horse vets are way more expensive if I'm correct?
Gaelic Gladiacres
06:10:14 Gladius
cloud - yeah, you're absolutely right. the industry is basically in crisis at the moment, especially for rural and large animal vets
Cloud Peak Stables
06:07:42 Cloud
I never like when I have to take an animal to the vet, but in my area of the US, I'm just thankful we have a vet at all. It's not an easy career and they don't typically make that much money. I think there's a good deal of burnout in the industry because of that.

Nicks face flushed bright scarlet red once again. He rubbed his eyes again and nodded slowly. "Yeah.. I'm sorry.." he apologized, head in his hands.

"Why are you apologizing. He's lonely a-f."
She hummed easily.
"But please explain the emotional soup."

".. hes your brother?" Nick questioned, giving her a odd look. "...doesn't that make me gay?" Nick wasn't homophobic or anything, but their school wasn't the most accepting school in the world. Nick had seen what the rest of the football team says to the other gay kids, and they are so mean. "And technically I still have a girlfriend... and a lot of things happened this morning...."

"First, nothing is wrong with being gay. I'm lesbian, and I'm 90% sure you find nothing wrong with that. Second, what in the fvck did he do?"
She asked in confusion, taking his hand gently.

Nicks face faded into the scarlet hue just thinking about the events. "Um, well, I woke him up, in my underwear, his hoodie and my blankie around my neck. Then I made us coffee and he pulled his hair back and I started choking on my coffee. He grabbed my arm and pulled my face so close, to make sure I was okay. So I panicked and got up to clean my mug, and he followed me and when I finished and turned around he was so close again, and neither of us moved from there while we talked, and I couldn't stop staring at that fucking lip ring, and I was bright red the whole time, and then I did or said something wrong and he just left." Nick dumped this on Aaron, looking for help, with his head in his hands.

As Aaron listened, her jaw dropped further.
"Holy. Sh1t."
She muttered in shock.
"Yeah, he's put his hair up in public before, and I think I heard five people squeal. Anyway, holy sh1t, dear."
She muttered.
"You probably didn't do anything. Hes... sensitive sometimes. Especially with new people. Especially Especially when he knows something sensitive he doesn't want to spill or hurt them with."
Aaron explained, rubbing his hand.

Nick rubbed his eyes again. "He just said I should dye the ends of my hair blue, and I asked if he didn't like how my hair was now, and then he just left...." Nick explained, his head still buried in his hands and his cheeks still scarlet. "I just don't know what to do..."

"Oh, hon. He tends to do that. He probably likes your hair already and just thought the blue would look nice. He's good at imagining things. I keep telling him he'd be a good house designer..."
She hums, reaching forward gently and moving a piece of his hair from his face and pulling her hand back. She smiled sadly.
"He tends to do that, like I said.'

Nick sighed and nodded. He wasn't used to liking someone, and the way it made him feel. "But what do I do? I've never liked someone like this, and when I'm around him I can't stop blushing and there are butterflies in my stomach everytime I talk or even look at him. I just don't know what to do now." He vented, feeling helpless
