And in other news, I’m pretty excited. I had four horses qualify for fed championship shows. Not terrible for the first time doing it in probably ten years lol

I don't buy art for HEE, but I do buy art for my DnD characters, and that usually costs me $100-250 USD for the artists I usually go to.

For context, I’ve been using Photoshop etc for going on 20 years and my previous role was an in-house graphic designer, I make HEE art for fun mainly. The art community on here is a big part of the game to me <3

I get that, I've been using PSCS6 for probably around 12 years myself, but I'm *incredibly* lazy and I have a really cheapo drawing tablet. I do manips more than painting due to that, but it's not the trend here really.

Honestly I think the prices people charge on HEE are an absolute steal most of the time 😂

Indeed, with all art (HEE and otherwise) you’re paying for the artist’s skill built up over many years - not specifically their time on that piece

Yeah, it is pretty crazy, Asfa... But I have also been on Photoshop since I was 13 (which means 11 years of experience with it), so most of my pieces are muscle memory. Hair takes up 80% of my time, while lighting, horse prep, etc, is very quick and easy.

(Let's not get started on wings though, lol.)

Art prices have definitely went up. I can't complain though because if I had an excess amount of eden bucks I'd definitely spend it on art lol

That's an insane amount for that time, especially if you convert it back to USD, whoa.

Oooh, I don't know. I think my highest is around 6 mil if I remember correctly.

Time wise, I work absurdly fast in relation to the other artists on HEE, to be honest. All of my pieces take me around 4-6 hours. 8 hours max if I really get stuck on some things, but I know that's not the case for some others who spend 10+ hours on their art.

What about you Val? What's been you highest priced piece so far and how long did it take you?

Let's say a piece from a T1 artist, like Gem, Zomb, Port etc. Maybe a collab so it's collecive time.

Madrigal nodded, understanding Sage's reasoning. Everyone picked up their own ways of drying meat when they needed to do it often. She had her ways, but it seemed that Sage had his too. She decided that he knew what he was doing. "Okay, we can do it your way. I had some things back where I was staying in town. Let's get these guys sorted," she gestured to the deer bodies, "and then I'll head off and collect my stuff. Some of it is valuable, and we could use it if ew need to trade along the way."

Sage nodded in agreement and grabbed the deer corpse's, dragging them out the door and making a small fire. "If you want I can take care of cleaning these guys up and getting them on the fire while you grab your stuff. If we need to make more trips we can once I get the meat up." He shrugged and took his dagger out and started skinning the larger deer, gutting and cleaning it. "Whatever you think would be better."

Madrigal helped Sage move the deer. She eyed the fire warily. "Do you know how to make a smoke-trapping structure?" She asked, and then regretted it. He probably did. She rolled her eyes at herself and started to back away. "Okay, I'll leave you to it. Just don't ruin the meat. I travel light, so I can bring it all myself. See you, Sagey," she said with a smirk, turning her back and disappearing into the dark woods.

She closed the distance between the cabin and her hiding spot in a matter of minutes, swiftly moving between the shadows. There were very few people milling around now that it was dark, and Madrigal was grateful. WHen she got to her little hole-in-the-wall living space, she gathered her things quickly. She had a bag, a nice one with lots of straps, that she had been carrying around with her for years. It was sturdy and could hold a fair amount of weight. They would need it for their journey. Once Madrigal had packed the few things she had, she took a moment to compose herself. This little spot was cozy and so comfortable. She would miss it and remember it always. A little squeak caught her attention and Madrigal looked around, spotting one of the mice that frequented her spot. It was small and brown and she'd made friends with it(as she did with the others) over the past months, enjoying the little company she could get. "So long mister mouse," she said in farewell.

Sitting comfortably in the silence, Madrigal meditated. Moments passed, and all that could be heard were the bats and the rats and other night birds. When she was ready to pick herself up, she gave the spot one last sweep of her eyes and disappeared.

Sage built a small structure around the fire and let the fire build up while he butchered the deer meat. He put the larger slabs of meat on, and then made a different fire for the smaller peices so they could cook at different speeds like they needed to. Then he sat back and watched the meat silently, enjoying the quiet. He enjoyed being with Madrigal too, of course, but it had been a crazy couple of days and it gave him some time to think.

When she got to the cabin, Madrigal went inside and gently dropped her bag to the floor. Then, she took her knives out, rummaged in her bag for her cleaning supplies, grabbed her blanket, and went outsde to sit by the fire and clean her blades. She didn't say anything as she sat down and proceeded to make her blades shine.

As she cleaned each blade, she layed it on the ground, the fire light making the metal glint. When she was done, she curled up beside the blades, and using her arm as a pillow, she fell asleep.

Sage let the girl work in silence, completely alright to let the quiet continue. It wasn't an awkward silence at all, and was really actually comfortable. He watched the fire dance around peacefully while the gentle shing of the girl sharpening her blades added to the peace.
When he realized that Madrigal had gone silent, he glanced over at her and smiled softly when he saw that she was asleep. He couldn't help but notice how pretty she was without the worry lines crossing her face now that she was resting. He slipped into the cabin and grabbed a blanket, gently dropping it over her body, careful not to wake her. Then he went and sat back down by the fires and watched it flicker dimly for a while, keeping them at the right level before he was sure the meat was done.
Once he took the meat off the fire he put it in the cabin before walking back outside and silently curling up on the grass with his back to a tree trunk, falling asleep himself.

Lmao sorry I thought I already wrote a reply))

Madrigal woke the next morning with a start. She had been dreaming, but couldn't remember what of. She rolled onto her back, and then noticed the blanket covering her body. She looked over to Sage and smiled. It was early, dawn only having just broken, and there was a biting chill. She got up and draped the blanket over Sage before going into the cabin. She checked the meat, glad to see that he had indeed dried and hadn't cooked, and began rolling it in pieces of cloth she'd collected over her time in the city. She wondered what Sage had done with the skins. They'd be really good protection from snow and rain. She tied her cloak over her shoulders, and went back outside to collect her blades, some of which she strapped to her body, the rest she wrapped and put in her bag. She mentally prepped herself for the morning of potential chaos they would have, and went outside to wake Sage.

(haha it's all good. I'm going camping through Wednesday so I won't be on much after tmrw morning)
Sage opened his eyes slowly and sat up with a slight groan. He wasn't a morning person, at all. He was more of a night owl type person. He sat up and noticed the blanket over him, and mentally thanked the girl. When he saw her come out of the cabin he waved sleepily and ran his fingers through his messy hair. No doubt he had a horrible bed head. "Do you want to pack meat up before or after we go to the village," he mumbled, still only half awake. He was excited for this, and he wasn't sure why. He had stolen plenty of things, although he had never pulled a stunt as big as this before. He wondered what would happen, and how it would turn out.

Ooo have fun!! Sorry, short one- I gotta go to the horses now))

Madrigal smiled when she saw that Sage was already awake. She returned the wave, laughing at the state of her friend. "Don't like mornings, eh?" She teased.

She shook her head. "Nah, I've already packed it all. I thought I'd contribute a little to the work, since you practically did it all yesterday. Come on, mister, we need to divise a plan get going if we are to set off before noon. The vendors will be setting up on an hour or so."

Sage grunted in agreement and rubbed his eyes tiredly, trying to wake up. He stood up and stretched, then grabbed the meat and put it with the rest of the supplies. "I'm definetly not a morning person," he chuckled slightly and shook his head as he tries to get his brain to start working so they could get a plan. "Plan is to...uh...steal what we need and not get caught."
