He nodded and walked slowly in a circle, looking around. "I haven't been here in years. I've been too busy...working." He smiled softly, glad to be back here. He walked along all the stalls, running a hand lightly across the wood as he went. "I practically grew up in this barn. It hasn't changed a bit." He heard a small noise from the hayloft and he practically squealed as he ran over to the ladder and scrambled up. He grabbed something and came back down holding a tortishell she cat. "I promised you animals. Well, Daisy here was my only friend up until you." He offered the cat to Maxine with a soft smile still plastered across his face and a light in his eyes that hadn't been there since he had been about five.

Max gave a small nod "Maybe you could make a home here someday...?" she suggested "Have a bunch of-" she broke off watching him run up to the loft in confusion when he returned with the cat her eyes lit up "Oh she's so sweet!" she chirped gently taking the cat in her arms "Shes so pretty too!" she said happily stroking her and looking at him "Though I hope by now i'm a little more then just your friend..." she teased.

He chuckled. "Of course you are. You're much more than just a friend." He shrugged and blushed. "Or...just a master." He meant what he said. The cat snuggled into Maxine's chest and rubbed her head against her neck, purring loudly. Sage watched them with a smile and then looked around again. "A home here. Never thought of that. But...I don't think I'll ever be content to stay in one place for long. Besides, we couldn't stay even if we wanted to."

Max gave a smile "Good i'm glad to know that." she cooed "You're more then a friend, pet or even a demon to me." she said happily chuckling at how loud the cat was purring before she looked at him "I think you could eventually..." she admitted. "I mean death won't be able to control you anymore not with the collar... you could very well make a life for yourself somewhere." she pointed out. She left herself out simply because she didn't know if she'd even get to be a part of that or for how long... if he ever did decide to settle down.

Sage leaned against the stall door and looked at the cat for a moment before responding. "Death wouldn't, but someone will. Demons...they're bred in hell, and Death uses them, but they're made in a way that means we need some form of master to keep us under control." He sighed heavily. "No master, or no collar, and we slowly go crazy until we fade." He made a face. "I've seen it happen and believe me when I say it's a long, slow demise that all of us are crazy afraid of. That's why no one's ever rebeled before." He chuckled without humor. "I'm just the crazy, stupid one."

Maxine nodded before smirking and setting the cat down going over and wrapping her arms around his neck "Then I must be just as equally stupid..." she said gently "And crazy..." she chuckled "But I wouldn't change a thing." she admitted happily "No matter the outcome... I'm glad to have met you..."

Sage smirked and put his hands on her waist. "I don't think you really had a choice after I stopped that bus," he chuckled. "But it was your choice to become my new master so, I can't argue that you're a bit crazy." He said it fondly...saying she was crazy wasn't an insult at all.

Maxine laughed "Probably not..." she admitted laughing at his comment "We both are... lets just be upfront about that..." she teased. If you want you can skip a few weeks.)

(ok yeah that works) A few weeks had gone past, which meant they needed to head out soon. Sage was pacing back and forth across the barn isle thinking about it. Roxie had said they were hunting them, but he had expected an attack by now. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. He was overthinking this all and he knew it, but he was worried. As much as he seemed confident, he had no idea what was coming, and even though he could use more powers now, if Maxine let him, he wasn't sure he could beat Roxie since she was an elder demon.

Maxine had gotten grumpy over the last week... she was having difficulty sleeping as she wasn't used to this yet. When Maxine finally couldn't take it anymore she got up off the bed of hay they'd slept on with a small sleepy groan before she went over to Sage "Whats wrong?" she asked trying hard not to sound overly grouchy or annoyed as she looked at him.
