Trixie tilted her head at him, moving closer once he continued speaking and pulling him into a tight embrace. She gently tilted his head into her neck, stroking his hair calmly. It didn't occur to her to blame him for her death, or the situation she was in, not in the slightest. She gently rubbed his back in circles with the other hand, shaking her head. "I don't care. That doesn't change anything for me, and it shouldn't change anything for you, either. I love you, Matt." She said softly, her tone comforting.

Matt stepped away from Trixie, giving an apologetic smile. "It might not for you bit its just..yeah. Please dont say that" he said, referring to the very end of her sentence. "We should just get the last task done, end up in that strange dream land and just work from there. Apart" he mumbled, making his way down from the attic. They had to jump down, the ladder had been put away, but obviously they couldnt hurt themselves or break bones so it didnt matter. He quickly made his way out the house, only stopping to wait for Trixie.

Trixie blinked as he pulled away, swallowing. She tilted her head in blatant confusion. "Matt, what-? What do you mean?" She asked, blinking as he walked off. Apart? What was he on about? She stayed where she was, fiddling roughly with her fingers for a few minutes, brushing at tears in her eyes as she tried to figure out what was going on. When it didn't help, she slowly made her way outside, her arms curled around herself. "Matt, I don't understand what you're on about. What have I done wrong?" She asked carefully, tilting her head as she walked slowly out toward him.

"You havent done anything wrong, I never said you did. I just dont want you expecting me to stay the same with you knowing I quite literally am the reason that you're dead. I'd rather get this over and done with, get transferred and carry on with different lives" Matt spoke, staring down at his hands. He felt so incredibly bad about making Trixie this upset, but what could he do? The guilt was most definitely overpowering. They made their way, with only the gut feeling to find the woman and boy and eventually appeared next to them. They were walking towards a crossing, and he watched as the woman took the childs hand. "What are we meant to do" he mumbled, his heart racing.

Trixie simply watched him in something between hurt and confusion, staying silent afterwards. She thought for a few moments and then didn't respond, simply walking on toward the task. She ignored him the entire way there- not even a glance in his direction when he spoke, treating him as- Well- a ghost. She blinked as the woman took the child's hand, glancing at the lane of traffic beside them with a sigh. "God, I hope I was a good person." She muttered to herself, walking to a car parked along the street and sliding into it quietly.

"Or ignore me then" Matt muttered, watching her slide into a parked car. He stepped back, leaving plenty of room for her to do her thing. He knew he had the same task as her, that wasnt the problem, the problem was how he felt. Maybe he could stay after the deadline? Trixie coud go by herself? He shook off the thoughts, muttering how stupid they were before heading toward and oncoming car, ready to grab the handle and open the dpr. He could only hope Trixie would do whatever she wanted to at the same time. Get it over and done with.

The car started at her touch, but she hesitated, foot pressed firmly on the brake. Her heart was beating too fast for comfort, and she stared at the steering wheel hesitantly the whole time. She sighed and steered out of the parking spot, heading at the intersection without stopping. She closed her eyes toward the end, braking a little too late. The car hit them, but not insanely hard- enough to shove both of them back and give bruises, maybe minor broken bones.

Matt, at the sight of the car Trixie was in finally moving, grabbed the door handle which seemed to spook the driver, causing them to of course not stop and also hit them. He didnt see how hard it was, he didnt care. Instead, he turned his head away from both the scene and Trixie, stepping out the way of onlookers rushing up like they would run into him. He didnt say a word to Trixie, instead made his way back the complete opposite way. If she wanted to talk to him, she could. Eventually, Matt had arrived back at the same attic of the now empty house without the woman and child, settling against boxes stacked up against a wall, purely just to think.

Trixie slipped away quietly, staring at her feet and moving without thought until she found herself at the now unoccupied house. She didn't say anything and walked straight past him to sit down in the corner of the room, laying her head in her hands and curling her knees to her chest. She cried silently for a few minutes, the occasional sob slipping out.

Matt looked up at Trixie as he heard her crying a litte, though for a couple seconds he had no idea what to say. In his mind, he had two choices. Forget about what happened, move over to her, wrap his arms around her and apologise, say everythings gonna be okay. Or, be as hostile as possible, start a bad argument so they're incredibly angry at each other and hope it carries on through to the dream land, so he doesnt have to worry about apologsing. Just forget about her. As he pondered over the two decisions he came to the realisation that he couldnt just leave her, that would be cruel. But he wasnt prepared to let it go and be nice either. "I'm sorry." he said eventually, his tone quiet and his voice slightly shaky.
