Sage wrinkled his nose at Anya slightly when she hit him...though, it didn't hurt, and he knew she didn't intend for it to hurt. It was more of a 'yeah I see you' face than a 'ouch' face. The queen showed no sign of seeing their mini silent conversation, or she just didn't care one way or the other if Anya hit him - fun of not. Not that Anya would ever hit him to hurt him, unless he did something drastic like kill her mother or something. When the queen finally spoke up he snorted, knowing that she just wanted to get rid of him. Most likely, she'd just say the commander said no to it without even giving it to him, but he'd shoved it in her face and he could tell she did realize some of it was good....he supposed that was more than what he could ask for. He stood up abruptly and walked over to the door. He did nod politely at the queen before he left, though - she had been more polite to him this time, so he figured he'd show her that he would treat her with the same amount of respect she gave him...it wasn't hard to see, and while he knew he wasn't her equal, or even close to it, he was still one of her people...so she should respect everyone under her command, regardless of what kind of low life he was.

Anya watched for a little while, her leg bouncing up and down as he mother spoke... and surprisingly, she was actually being civil. Anya watched Sage leave, turning to look at her mother with a slightly cocked head. "Are you really going to use it?" She chimed, her voice slightly more up beat. The queens smile came back for her daughter and gave a slight nod. "I'll pass it along, like I said. In truth, I don't know all that much about this sort of thing, but I don't see why any of it wouldn't work. I'll talk to the boy later on once I've had a second opinion on it." She shrugged, taking a sip of warm tea as she scanned over the papers again. Anya's stoic looking face turned slightly happier again. "You know, I'd like to bet that he'll want to over see some of the training sessions. If he asks, I would let him have a go. He managed to teach me a little when...." she trailed off. Her mother knew full well that she had snuck out in the past, and that there had to be more of a reason for her wanting to drag him back than them spending a few weeks in a cell together. "Maybe, Anya. I'll look into it, I promise," the queen noted gently, patting the girls arm before signalling that she was free to leave. The girl jumped out of her seat and kind of skipped out the door, where Sage and Luther were talking again. "That was good!" She chirped excitedly.

Sage jumped when Anya burst out of the doors and suddenly appeared behind him and then put a hand over his heart, chuckling a bit. That was the second time she'd startled him, both times without meaning to. "I think I'm going soft," he laughed lightly and then cocked his head at Anya slightly. "If you mean that she was a somewhat civil person to me this time then yeah, it went good." He shrugged. "Of course, theres a pretty high chance she'll just toss it to the side and forget about it all, but if she's any good of a queen she'll do as she said and get other feedback." He put his hands on Anyas shoulders and grinned at her. It would seem almost like a brotherly thing to anyone who saw them, though he knew it would mean something a bit different to Anya. "I might have to bring you with me every time if that changes her attitude that much," he chuckled.

Anya giggled slightly when she managed to startle Sage, especially when she wasn't really trying. There had been loads of times when she had tried, hard to scare him, but it never really seemed to work. She looked up at him with the biggest grin when he put his hands on her shoulders. "I'll come along whenever you need me... she'd be less likely lock you away in the dungeons forever and ever if I'm around." She noted brightly, putting her hands on his forearms as they held onto her. "Yeah, that was good. I think she was a little bit impressed by you." She noted genltly, a small smile in her face. "I reckon if I can push some buttons you'll be able to over see some if the training. If that is what you want of course." She noted with a gentle nod before looking down for a split second, then letting her gaze find his again, a playful glint in her eyes. "Hmm... you let your guard down. You're getting sloppy, Sage. Especially if you let me spook you." The girl teased. Luther looked up at the two with a slightly cocked head. "I take it everything went well, then?" Edited at October 6, 2022 09:10 AM by Belle

Sage stuck his tongue out at Anya when she teased him, knowing he was getting a bit too relaxed at the castle. He was getting used to being practically unnoticed...he should go listen to stuff outside soon. Maybe leave now, be there for a few days, and come back for new years. "I'll do whatever to be done, you know that," he chuckled. He looked over at Luther and shrugged. "Well I'm not dead or storming around the castle on a rant so I suppose it did go well," he half joked then he looked back at Anya. "I was thinking of possibly going back to the tavern for a few days to get information and then coming back for new years like you wanted." He shrugged and rested his chin in the top of her head, like a brother might do. Luther wouldn't think much of it.

Anya nodded slightly leaning into the boy for a moment before leaning away again. It was a short moment of relaxed calmness, and it didn't look like anything other than a friendly hug, but Anya was a bit cautious anyway. The girl hummed slightly before patting his chest softly. "I'm not going to stop you from going out, you know that." She noted lightly, giving a soft nod. She knew he wasn't comfortable in the castle, and he did need to stay custom to living out on the streets... if he went too soft, then he wouldn't last too long out there anymore and she didn't want for him to struggle out there anymore than he already was. And, they did think that the information would be handy. It would take some time for him to actually peace anything together, so he would probably have to stay out there for a while anyway. She'd worry, of course, but Sage could look after himself well enough. Luther scoffed at that, rolling his eyes ever so slightly. "You know, I don't get you - why you're so happy to be going back out there. It's safe here, and you get fed and watered. Whats so great about it?" He question raggedly. He did sound a bit... rude, but he was genuinely curious as to why he liked it out there so much.

Sage chuckled and shook his head. "It's what I'm used to. Where I grew up." He shrugged lightly, not really caring about Luther's tone. It was a question...and a good one at that. "I might not be as well off as I am in the castle, but it's still my home. Where I belong." He wasn't sure how that all sounded, but in the simplest terms, that's why he preferred the streets. "I don't need great resources to have a decent life," he murmured thoughtfully. It was true...and while he did enjoy having resources and not, we'll, starving....the streets were his home, where he could really truly be himself. Heck, all his dead were buried there. His family. Liz. He couldn't just abandon what he knows and come live in the castle. It just wasn't....him. he looked back over at Anya and patted her shoulders slightly. "I'll leave tonight sometime and be back in a few days."

Luther wrinkled his nose, still not really getting it. He had come over here, away from his family to spend time with a girl he didn't really like all that much - granted, they'd started getting along better in the last few months, but still. From what he could gather, Sage didn't have that much family left. Though, it wasn't really any of his business why Sage was so willing to get back out. If that was what he wanted, then he wasn't going to stop him. Anya gave a slight nod to him, patting his chest before letting out a gentle sigh. "Come find me before you go. We can send you off with some food or something. You're still not fully healed, and I'll be damned if I send you out there with nothing to fuel you." She noted with a small smile, though it eventually turned into a slight smirk.

Sage chuckled and nodded. "Not too much though, or I'll just be a target and you know it," he pointed out with a grin. He was bother excited and apprehensive about going back out there .... He liked having food and water, of course he did, but the streets were his home. Struggling was just his way of life, and he didn't think he could ever get used to anything else. He craved the adrenaline that came in a fight...it made him feel alive. Much more alive than he did working at the tavern or sitting in the castle. "I'll find you before I leave. Besides, it's not like I have anything to pack or whatever." He chuckled and shook his head. "And don't worry, it's not like I haven't been shot before. It won't hamper me much, I promise."

Anya chuckled slightly, waving her hand passively. "I'll send you off with something to keep you alive. No more no less." She noted with a smile. He'd lived long enough on the streets to look after himself, and staying in the castle for a few weeks would never take that away from him. He'd be fine, she knew that. "Who said I'd worry? Please, I've gone seventeen years without knowing you. I'm sure Luther and I will manage a few days." She cackled with a tilted head, a teasing smile on her face. She would worry, of course, she would, but she wasn't going to stop him from leaving. He wanted to go out, and they could do with any information he brought back. "What're you wanting to do now? You and Luther can go mess around if you wanted... or we can all go for a walk or something. Whatever you want to do."
