Camery nodded to her, and wiped her tears away the best she could. She really felt awful. She couldn't do anything about it now, and all she wanted to do was help him. She thought this would be a good thing for them. It was supposed to be a good thing... introducing someone she loved so goddamn much to her parents shouldn't have ended like this. She couldn't believe they'd actually done this too him. She walked in quiely after thanking the nurse, swallowing hard at the sight of him. God, he must have been in so much pain. She should have helped him sooner. She sat down on the chair at the beside, and gently took his hand in hers. Her shoudlers were still shaking, and she just couldn't look at him. The guilt was eating her alive, and all she could do was hope he'd make a full recovery. |

Kais body was almost fully covered in bandages. His legs were wrapped up, knee to foot on both legs, his wings in an elaborate pattern of stitches, spayed out to his sides, and all of those whip marks covered in gauze. He had an IV and a heart monitor both settles beside him. He woke slowly a little later. "...Cam?" |

Camery sat there for what seemed like ages. Her throat hurt, from the yelling, the screaming and the crying. And yet, she couldn't bring herself to look at him. She didn't deserve to. She squeezed his hand when he woke up, her lip shaking slightly but refusing to let herself cry again. She was exhausted, but she was sure it didn't even nearly equal what he was feeling. She nodded quietly, her eyes glued to his in hers. Just about the only part of him that wasn't bandaged up. "Malakai," she breathed quietly, scared that if she even tried to say anything else she'd just break down again. |

Kai opened his arms. "Come here, darling..." he whispered hoarsely. |

Camery shook her head at him, letting go of his hand as he pulled it away to open his arms. She couldn't hold him as tightly as she wanted to, not without hurting him. So, she shook her head again. "I don't want to hurt you," she whispered, risking a glance up at him. "I'm so sorry this happened," she murmured, running a hand over her face. |

Camery Valatieri - Cam gave him a look after a moment, her stomach churning at it all. She hadn't done this, but her parents had. She'd put him in a situation where he wasn't safe. She should have known better... and now... well, just look at him.
She gave in after a moment, though, and walked over to curl up into his side, making sure to keep herself away from anything that could hurt him. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him.
Her breath hitched for a moment, a small she could do was shake her head as she buried her face into his side. "I'm so sorry," she repeated quietly. He didn't deserve any of that. She'd been so excited to show him off... she didn't understand where it went wrong. She wrapped an arm around him, albeit a nervous one. |

Camery Valatieri - Cam looked up at him, the bruising and swelling on his face just making her want to burst out in tears. She didn't, he didn't want to see her like that. "But you trusted me. I put you in a situation that I knew might not be safe," she whispered. Her eyes fell to his wings, her finger reaching up to touch one of the stitches lightly enough so that he wouldn't feel it. "Now look at you," murmured, burying her nose into his neck.
She then looked at her finger, the one that should have his ring on it. His grandmothers ring. Tears threatened her eyes for a moment, but she just curled in tighter. "You just got better," she murmured quietly. |
