"It's fine," he says and gives her a friendly smile, "so what do you like to do when you are on your break? Read, ride your horse, talk to the other servants?"
She smiled sadly, "I don't know how to read, I enjoy hanging out with calico, but it's a one sided conversation, you know?, and other servants hate me, I don't know why, they just do" Ellimere said and chuckled slightly, "what about you, what do you do?" Ellimere said and shifted

"I usually just walk around the palace," he says shrugging, "I've gotten some of the servants to trust me and have become slight friends with them. Mostly the older servants though." He stood and walked over to the bookshelf and asks, "So why were you never taught to read? It is a very important thing in life you know."
"I know, but I am a maid, we don't learn these things" she said with a small smile, Ellimere fiddled with the ends of her long hair

"Well that doesn't seem very fair," he mutterd kind of quietly as he took a simpler book off of the shelf. He then walked back over Ellimere and pulled a chair up beside her. "Alright," he says as he sits down and opens the book, "first reading lesson. Let's takes this slow."

Ellimere sucked in a deep breath, she looked at the rows of words on the page, they all looked confusing, Ellimere looked up at Trevor's calm face, "how?-"
| |
"We will go one letter and word at a time," he tells her in a calm tone, "first off. Do you know this letter?" He pointed at the letter T which was in bigger and fancier writing than the others on the page.
Ellimere shook her head, "I have seen it, but what is it?" She said looking up at Trevor with trusting eyes, she folded her hands in her lap, and leaned closer to Trevor, so she could see clearly
| |
"This is the letter T," he says, "alone it can make the 'tuh' sound but with an H it can make the 'th' sound like in this word."
"T" she said and sounded it out, " Th" Ellimere looked at Trevor gratefully, her white teeth shining, "thank you"
