Matts focus on the driveway outside was very quickly lost once Trixie had finished her sentence, and he looked over from the window with the same frown he had displayed about two minutes ago, simply blinking for a couple more seconds. "Right..How come?" he asked, fiddling with his rings. At least his worries had been correct about the whole Italy thing, but it hurt exactly the same regardless of whether he had gotten it right or not. "If you don't wanna go it's fine, we can wait until you're ready." he said softly, hoping that would be the right answer.

Trixie opened her mouth again to speak at the question, and again, no words came. She stood and walked closer to him when he spoke so she stood in front of him. She moved her hands so they cupped his face slightly, gently tilting his head upward so she could look at him. "It's not that I don't want to go, Matt. I want to- I'd love to. But I think it might be better if you go alone this time. I don't want your family to think I'm trying to- steal you, or something. It'll be your first time seeing them since the coma, and I don't want to get in the way of you having a good reunion with them. I can always go next time, but it's not every day you get a second first impression." She said softly, gently brushing her thumb across his cheek.

As gentle as he could, Matt slid Trixies hand away from his face, setting it back down on her own lap. "I invited you to see them for a reason, Trixie, and trust me if i thought my parents would want me to come alone seeing as it's their first time seeing me I would have talked to you about you staying here before getting the tickets or whatever" he said, keeping his voice quiet. Him being the protective guy he was, all he had in his head was overthinking. Was she staying there because she'd found someone else? As soon as the thought swarmed his mind he felt the soft, quiet tone easily slip away, replaced with a slight defensiveness. "Or is there a different reason?" he asked, tilting his head a little. He looked up at the clock, briefly checking the time. They were both meant to meet Diana and just a couple others at the same event venue in a good half an hour, but whether they would make it was questionable.

Trixie frowned as her hands got slid away, but kept them settled in her lap none the less. "Your father literally picked out the perfect bride for you, Matt. I'm nothing like her, and you chose me over her. Do you really think your father will take kindly to me after that?" She asked gently, tilting her head at him and fiddling with her fingers in her lap. She blinked at the sudden shift in his tone, frowning at him slightly. "Other than the fact that I'm also a little terrified of meeting your parents? No." She answered, her tone that of slight confusion.

"And? Just because he picked someone out doesn't mean he wouldn't like you. He has no idea what you're like, he just went with Layla because it's a family friends daughter or whatever. Aslong as you don't show up off your head on drugs or alcohol i'm sure his frustration will blow over" Matt sighed, leaning back in his chair. He found it hard to keep the same tone, and as much as he hated arguing with Trixie, it wasn't exactly as easy as some made it out to be to just..keep quiet. "I have a feeling you're hiding something" he said after a little while, looking up to look her in the eye.

"But that's the thing, love. He'll be frustrated, initially. And I don't want one of the first emotions he has with you to be frustration over me. That's not a good way to start a reunion." Trixie sighed, lifting her hands and rubbing the heels of her hands into her eyes. She lifted her head, an offended expression when she met his gaze. "What do you think I'm hiding, Matt?" She scoffed, her tone that of insult and confusion. "I'm concerned about me causing you problems with your family, and you automatically think that I must be untrustworthy? I'd hope you had more faith in me." She said, a slightly wounded tone as she stood and walked to the fridge, glancing at the clock.

"And i'm saying I don't care, it'll blow over eventually. Be like a couple hours, maybe he'll sleep on it but it won't stay." Matt mumbled, feeling his heart rate raise a little. He rubbed his arm down, prising off his hoodie at the slightly raised temperature. "I do, but you've left it until maybe a week or so until we're meant to go? And you've been a lot more silent today, so i'm giving you the chance to tell me if you're hiding something." He said, his eyes following her as she got up and headed over to the fridge. "If you've suddenly found someone else, just say" he ended, letting it sink through a slow, long exhale.

Trixie gave a sigh, grabbing a water bottle and staying silent at his first response. "If you really think I should, and you need me to, I'll go. I just want you to know I don't think it's the best idea." She explained quietly, taking a few sips of her water and giving him an insulted glance. "You obviously don't, if you think I would hide something from you to begin with. I'm not hiding anything, and you can't will that into existence by insisting that I am. I would never hide anything from you, nor have I ever." She said bluntly, leaning over the counter and holding his gaze. She was so stunned at his next words, it took her a full 30 seconds of confusion to respond. "Matteo, tell me you didn't just say those words to my face." She demanded softly.

Matt swivelled his head to look at Trixie as she leant over the counter, leaning it against the wall behind him. "I just don't understand, I get you're scared or whatever, worried, but you're thinking way too much into this Trixie,I know my parents and i know how they'll react. We'd arrive in the evening so we wouldn't even have to spend much time with them for the first day at least" he sighed, though his gentle zoning out was quickly lost at her last sentence. Somehow the softness of Trixies voice only managed to rile him up a little more, and he bit the inside of his lip, his eyes locking onto hers. "I meant it." he spoke? his tone just as soft but clearly a little patronising.
