Dakota weakly turned over, facing away from her family

Elijah strokes her hair, "I'm sorry love. I know you're feeling terrible. I wish I could help take the pain away"

Dakota flinched at his hand, cold to her. She sighed, her breath shaky

Elijah pulls a blanket over her, tucking it around her shoulders.

Dakota wanted to speak, to tell him she loved him and she was sorry, but her voice wouldn't come

Elijah smiles, "It's okay, rest" he says, kissing her head.

Dakota didn't respond, she just held on to the love from him. She slowly fell into a half-sleep between reality and the nightmare that dared to grab her
