When sage felt Elara shift around, he hummed a quiet "morning," to the girl, voice still rough with sleep. The quiet mornings never ceased to be nice, like this, and he couldn't help but wonder if they would be able to stay that way once they were back in the castle. Once she was back home, as a princess.

The woman hesitated for a moment, noting the voice change but whatever it was. . . let's just say she was a fan of it. "Morning," Elara murmured back, pecking his cheek as the warm sun's rays slipped through the window, illuminating them in golden, warm light.

Sage felt a smile form on his face when she greeted him, humming happily when she pecked him and opening his eyes after a moment or so. The sunlight was filtering in though the window, catching on Elaras hair and skin and....well, it made his breath catch slightly. She really was beautiful. He didn't think he'd ever quite get over her.

Elara watched him curiously as he looked at her, noting his breath catch as she smiled softly, pulling the tie out of her braid and letting her hair down. She sectioned it in two, starting to comb all the knots out with her fingers.

Sage shifted slightly to allow her to work on her hair, though he was content to just lay there and watch her. She could probably tell exactly what he was thinking....but he really did love her, and she was pretty, and he felt like he could just lay here forever with her.

Once her hair was knot free, she left it down, the soft blonde waves cascading down her back as she caught Sage's gaze, smiling softly as she laughed lightly. "What is it, Sage?" Elara asked, knowing almost exactly what he was thinking as she layed back beside him.

Sage sort of groaned when she spoke up, wrinkling his nose and giving her a fondly amused look. "Ever wish you could just...stay in one moment forever," he asked softly after a moment. "One where life doesn't seem so ...heavy?" It was times like these he wished he could. That they all could. But peace never lasted. He knew that. And he was dreading what came next.

Her smile fell slightly, the woman flopping back down--her hair like a halo around her head. "I wish I could, though we both know it'll never last." Elara murmured softly, glancing back over at him.

| |

Sage hummed softly in agreement, absentmindedly moving to run his fingers through her hair as she flopped back down next to him. "Yeah," he sighed softly. "But it'll work out," he added. It had to. Besides, he didn't want to bring down the emotions of their little moment, if you could call it that.

She sighed softly, flopping an arm across her stomach as she slipped her eyes shut for a moment, opening them once more as she looked up at Sage. "Y'know, I get what you said about staying in a moment forever. I mean, it's calm, you look about the most handsome i've ever seen a man, Liz is--surprisingly still asleep, and all is well."
