Sage chuckled and nodded. "We got distracted running around like wild banshees," he admitted, playing along with Anyas excuse. Sage felt a grin form in his face when Luther mentioned Anya making bad jokes but not being able to take it. "Well, that just gives us leeway to tease now, doesn't it," he chirped before scooping up another snowball and sending it at the instructor. This one hit him square in the forehead, and sage snickered when the man practically exploded with fury. Causing this kind of trouble was fun, and the guards seemed to agree with him...they were throwing snowballs at eachother now too.

Luther watched as the guards started a little game of throwing snowballs back and fourth... the instructor man didn't look impressed, not with the troops or Sage. It was understandable... not really, the guy could do with loosening up a little. He let out a cackle as he joined in on the snow fight, picking up another small ball of snow and chucking it back towards them... at no one in particular, really, kind of hoping that with the amount of people there were that it would have hit someone. After a little while, the snowballs started coming back towards them at the bench, to which he jumped up and started running into the depths of the little fight, childishly throwing them back and fourth. Anya sat quietly, only moving to shield herself from the blow of snow that was thrown at them. She laughed slightly before shaking her head as Luther ran off. "Hey, why don't you join him, have some fun? I'll go put the tray away and find something to entertain myself." She murmured with a small smile. Edited at September 20, 2022 02:32 PM by Belle

(hey! So sorry, I managed to get myself grounded for a week so I haven't been on. I would have told you but my mom blocked chrome off my phone lol) Sage chuckled and waved at her, a grin splitting his face. "Don't worry, I'll nail Luther for ya," he chuckled with a wink as he ran off into the middle of the snowball fight, fully intending on hitting as many guards in the face as possible. Well, or the groin. To be completely honest, he was planning on singling out his least favorites for that special treatment. But for now he was content to just run back and forth and chuck snow at people. He made sure to include some sort of hard object in them all, unless he was throwing something at Luther ... He didn't want to hurt him. It was all fun and games with him, not so...cruel, he supposed. He wondered what Anya could do to entertain herself...no way it was as fun, or as satisfying, as what sage and Luther were doing now as they ran around like two year olds. He acted like a two year old when he was comfortable often, he was finding. Maybe his inner child still wanted a chance to play and have fun, to enjoy life, since he'd never gotten that chance on the streets. Plus, they were teenage boys. They were still kinda immature, he could admit that, so why not have some fun.

(Oh, you're good aha. Hope you're alright!) Anya glanced behind her with a large grin. "Oh, you better had!" She replied when he mentioned hitting Luther with a snowball. She would have stayed and messed about for a while, but she kind if assumed it would hold them back a little. None of them would want to hit or potentially hurt her if she joined in, and she didn't want to be the person to slow down their fun. Well, that and she didn't want to be black and blue if they decided they weren't going to hold back for her. Besides, she had more important thinks to do. Like figuring out why exactly they had been training in the first place. That wasn't normal, not at all. Normally, they would have waited a few weeks after Christmas before getting back into the swing if things again, but they weren't waiting. Not one bit, and it was... weird. And quite frankly, if Sage was going to be coming around to hers more often, she didn't want to be woken up the way they had this morning... err... this afternoon, with the sound of clattering swords sharpening the air sround them. (lol I'm fine I just made mom a tad too annoyed XD) Sage darted around for a while longer, throwing snowballs left and right, some regular snow that he chucked in Luther's direction, and many others full of ice or rocks or other solid things he found in the ground. Some were literally just chunks of frozen earth he tossed at the guards he disliked the most. But it was well worth it, and he was enjoying himself. The grunts of startled pain when he hit a guard made it even better, though he knew they'd figure out what he was doing eventually since he threw harder things at certain people while Luther never got hurt. Well, sage couldn't say that...he was throwing the snowballs kinda hard, but Luther was a big guy and would manage...he wasn't hurting him any more than the burst of cold from the snowball would. Things were crazy for a while until they started to slow down, the guards tiring because they'd already been training and had...well...horrible endurance. Eventually, he and Luther were the only two people still standing, the guards were all sitting, huffing and puffing. He gave a grin and threw one last snowball in Luther's direction, hitting him square in the chest. "I promised Anya I'd do that," he chuckled. "Not too shabby for a castle folk," he said, teasing Luther lightly. Nothing was wrong with being castle folk, and Luther knew that.

Luther gasped slightly and put a hand over his chest in a dramatic manner when he mentioned that they weren't awful for castle folk. "What were you expecting?" He gawped teasingly before looking over the guards with a slightly confused look. Guards were meant to not only be strong but also have insurance. If they couldn't be smart, well, then they needed that even more. These guys... they were sat in the snow, gasping for air. Given, they all had huge grins on their faces, other than a few that had been completely battered. He couldn't help that small laugh that escaped him. "All these guys and we're the only ones standing, huh?" He teased, his voice loud so that the guards could hear. Just to annoy them a little. Though, he did know it was mainly Sage that had battered them, while Luther was just messing around and throwing loose snow at each other. Anya went and put the little tray away before wandering up towards the main lounge. Her mother would either be there or watching over the guards disapprovingly from a distance. Well, she'd only be disapproving if she was watching, which seemed likely. She slipped through the large wooden door, smiling slightly for her mother. The warm air hit her hard, but it was nice considering how cold it'd been. She glanced around, and as she expected, she was in the lounge, standing at the window and watching over the guards from the window. "Afternoon," She murmured lightly, wandering over to her side and peering out the window. She couldn't help her smile turning into a grin when she saw Sage and Luther standing there, everyone else puffing in the snow. Her greeting hand only earned a small nod from the Queen, who was a little unimpressed by the antics of the people on the ground. "They're meant to be training." The woman sighed, shaking her head slightly. Anya cocked her head a little in her signature curious stance. "That's actually why I came to find you. It's odd, that they're already practicing. Is there anything I should know about?" She questioned slightly before turning around and going to sit on a couch. The woman sighed and wandered over to her, perching on a seat opposite her. "Your father heard of a rebellion brewing in the surrounding towns. It might be that nothing will happen, but Anya, we do need to be prepared." She murmured with a slight frown. "And let me tell you, those boys going out there and messing with the guards - throwing snowballs at them - isn't helpful. They already aren't particularly good at what they do, and we don't need any setbacks." The queen added on, giving a begging look to Anya, a 'please keep them away' look. Anya nodded in slight understanding. "I wonder if we could send Sage out... he might be able to find out a little of what's going on." Anya shrugged thoughtfully. Sage might not want to go out just yet, but it would be helpful. If there was word going around the castle staff, then the chances were that there was someone on the inside that might start things up. If she could get Sage to have a look about it, and talk to a few people, then they might be able to get a little information, so that they could prepare themselves.

Sage snorted out a laugh and shrugged. "We'd better let them keep training so they can try to build up some endurance." He squinted over at the castle with a thoughtful hum. "Anya said she'd put the tray of food away and figure out something to do. Maybe we should go find her." Not that she'd be getting into any trouble...she was definitely the more....how should he put it ... Cautious?...one out of all of them. Probably the wisest too. Either way, he wanted to find her, and he wanted Luther to tag along. He'd been gettyalong well with the guy...and it was nice to have a guy his age to cause trouble with. If they couldn't find Anya, he had full plans to go raid the kitchen and drag Luther around with him. He wasn't really hungry, just wanted to have some more fun. And they'd have to do that when Anya wasn't around or they would get a scolding from the princess. Which, if he was being honest l, was probably scarier to both him and Luther than getting stabbed or whatever. He wanted to find out why the guards were retaining, too...Anya had said that wasn't normal, which made him think something else was going on. He wanted to find out what that was, and what was wrong. He figured that's where Anya had went, and while it probably wasn't wise to go seeking out the queen to pester her for information about her own castle, he wanted to know what was going on.

The queen just kind of stared at Anya for a moment. She still didn't trust the boy, not one bit, but Adilade would admit he was growing on her. Mainly because she'd never seen her daughter so... excitable. Not just for Christmas, but every moment of the day. She was happy, and that was enough to make the woman like Sage just a little. But still, sending him out onto the streets to collect information, seemed like they were pushing things a little. What if he turned his back on them, and made a point to get involved with whatever was happening? Not only would it break her daughter, but they would be made to look like fools. "Do you really trust him that much? And honestly, how much information could someone possibly get out on the streets. What if he gets into trouble again. Anya, I refuse to save him twice." All this earned her was a slight shake of the head. Anya trusted Sage with her life, and while this was a simple task, she knew he would try the best he could for them if she asked. "I'm sure he'll be fine. If he doesn't feel like it'll work, then he doesn't have to go. But it's worth a shot. What if someone in the castle is planning something? It's the kind of thing we should know about." Anya reminded gently. Sage worked at the tavern... and people talked. Even if he couldn't make a conversation about it, he would surely hear something or other about it.

Sage left Luther to watch the guards more, since he was more interested in that than wandering around to find Anya. Sage himself would have kept taunting the guards, but he wanted to know what was going on. He'd had his little bit of fun, and now it was time to get to work. It was quite obvious something was up...this wasn't normal, and furious nature of the trainer definitely told sage something was amiss. He wandered around for a bit until he heard Anya's voice coming from...somewhere. He followed the general direction of her voice until he could make out exactly where she was. She was talking with her mother... probably about the very same thing he himself was wondering about. Ok, so maybe it wasn't the best idea to barge in on a conversation, but the door to the room was open, so it couldn't be much of a private affair. And either way, the queen would have to put up with him, since Anya wanted him here for the holidays, and new years day was soon, so even if he left he'd be back. So really, she'd better get used to him and his antics. Or she could hate him. He could quite honestly care less, though he'd prefer it if she liked him enough to be around her daughter. Also, it would be nice if someone other than Anya and Luther wouldn't be yelling at him all day, all the time. He'd appreciate that, though he supposed he preferred it to fake niceness. Honesty was always the way to go. He strode into the room and stuck his head over Anyas shoulder, like he usually did. "You figure anything out yet," he asked her, figuring he knew why she was there.

Anya glanced from her mother then back to Sage with a shallow smile. She'd talk about getting him involved with this later on, when he didn't have the pressure of her mothers gaze on him. Maybe if she went to see him later in the evening, they could have a chat. Discuss what was happening, and whether it'd be a good idea for him to go out into the village or not. He would probably know how to handle things with the towns around them than the royals did. It'd be good to get his opinion on things. Anya pursed her lips slightly before taking a shallow breath. "Apparently there's been word of a rebellion, on the castle no less." She murmured quietly, looking back out to the window where the guards where training as they were before. God, if people in the streets where anywhere near as good at the whole fighting thing as Sage was, they were really screwed. Her mother just kind of stared at them for a moment, as though she were trying to think of something to add on to that before simply nodding and turning heel towards the door. She had nothing more to say, and honestly, Anya was kind of glad she had left. Not because she didn't want her there, but because she was worried she'd say something to Sage. Mainly because word about this rebellion had brewed from the lower town, where Sage had come from. Anya groaned slightly before leaning back against a wall. "If this happens, and the villages turn on us... God, we're screwed, Sage," she murmured, a slightly melodramatic tinge to her tone. But she wasn't wrong. If they attacked with everything they had, even with all the guards and weapons and defenses the castle had, people would still get through. Which would then put Anya and her family in a shit tonne of danger.
