Sage chuckled and picked a bit of food off the tray to nibble at while they walked to somewhere to sit down. "Maybe I should," he chuckled. "If I'm ever bored I suppose I could go make them all mad." He gave her a grin. "I won't get my ass beaten. Ita like you don't know me at all," he joked, knowing full well she'd seen him get his ass beaten. Not in a fight he was able to use his best style in though. No, the times she'd seem him beaten was when he was in a battle with his emotions and memories....not really a physical one. Of course, she's seen him get shot too, so that could count. "They can't hurt me too badly without getting their asses beat by you though," he chuckled. "Where do you want to eat, anyway? Somewhere particular you wanna sit down at?" He had finished his tidbit by now but refrain ed from grabbing another piece until they could sit down somewhere together and eat. "We could see if Luther's up for a snack too if you want."

Anya nodded slightly before rolling her eyes. "Who said I'd protect you, Sage? If you get beaten up by the guards then that's on you," she teased lightly. He knew that she'd look after him the best she could... and if that meant wacking her own guards over the head with a stick, then so be it. She wasn't a scary person quite the opposite actually, but when push came to shove she could be insanely mean. As could anyone, she supposed. "I was thinking we go outside and eat... it'll be cold, but I can go grab us a jacket or a cloak or something each to keep us warm. Luther will probably be out there anyway. He likes watching the guards... or, he likes laughing at them. Bare in mind he's not actually very good at... well, anything, so I don't really know why he gets to tease." She noted with a soft chuckle.

Sage chuckled and grinned at her. "True. But it would totally be worth it." He meant it too....getting beaten up because of something he said was much preferred to getting beat up over nothing. Besides, the satisfaction of annoying them so much would dampen anything they did to him, if they could manage to get a blow in. "But they couldn't catch me anyway they're all slow." He grinned over at her. "Outside it is. And Luther and I can go annoy people while we're at it." It sounded fun to him...Anya, food, and annoying people he didn't like. Seemed like the perfect combination. He did wonder though, when Anya would want him to go visit Lizzie's grave. He could admit he was...well, terrified. He didn't know what he'd do, how he would respond. He knew he'd have to visit to settle his emotions, but he was afraid of his emotions...he'd pushed them away, he'd gone blank. Numb. And he'd been ok with that. Less emotions meant less hurt. But it would all come back if he admitted he had those feelings....what would happen? Edited at September 19, 2022 09:38 AM by NightClan

Anya grinned. "And I'll go get us something warm then come back and watch you guys dick about while giving the people you're annoying a death glare." That was probably how it'd go... and she was fine with it. If it meant Sage and Luther were getting along, then it was a good thing. They both meant a lot to her in very different ways, so if they weren't getting at each other's throats it would be alright... even if they were pissing off all the royal guards. She wasn't sure what she had expected of them when they first met. Maybe a rivalry of sorts, given that they were from such different ranks but being treated the exact same. By Luther's future wife, no less... he wasn't a bright man, but you would've thought that he would have put two and two together... guess not. She let Sage walk ahead for a little while to open the doors while she was carrying the tray, her mind still wandering all over the place. She knew she had brought the idea of going to visit Lizzie's grave up, and she still thought it was a good idea, but she did now have a slight worry... or maybe fear... that Sage might actually hurt her. She said it was fine, and that she could deal with whatever he threw at her, but was it really so simple? She could console him the best she could if he got upset, but what if he really lost it? No, that wouldn't happen... or, she could hope it wouldn't.

Sage chuckled and nodded. "That sounds about like what's gonna happen. Though, I will say I'm incredibly tempted to throw some snowballs every now and then, while I'm annoying people." He opened the doors for Anya and turned his head back to look at her with a grin, a mischievous look in his eyes. He was grinning now, his wife, almost cocky trademark grin plastered across his face as he bounced along. He was still worried about visiting Lizzie, though by now most of his worried he'd shoved to the back of his head. It probably wasn't the best option, but it was what he was used to ... shove the emotions away, and they can't hurt in the moment. They might kill his mental health but he could deal with that later. He perked up even more when he saw Luther sitting down on a bench, watching the guards. He cackled and ran towards him, scooping up a handful of snow as he went before putting it down the back of Luther's shirt as he came up behind him and slid around to sit down next to him. "Hey," he all but giggled as he slid into the spot next to Luther, watching him closely for a reaction. Edited at September 19, 2022 11:02 AM by NightClan

Anya cocked her head as he ran off towards Luther, a curious look on her face. What wasn't out of the ordinary, though. Luther was sitting there with a slight smirk on his face, and even she could admit it was a look that made her want to throw something at him, so she could see Sage's incline to mess with him a little. Or, she at least wasn't going to stop him from doing so. Luther, on the other hand, was visibly unimpressed. His smile rapidly flailed and turned into frantic lashing out as he jumped out of his seat, trying to shoo all the snow from his back. "Wh..." he squeaked as he bounced around. "What the hell? Why?!" He roared before slumping back down on the bench with a soft groan. Luther rather liked this boy... Sage, was it? There weren't many people that'd be brave enough to mess with him like that. They were all more afraid of being bellowed at. It was nice, to have someone his age that wasn't overly scared of him. He could admire him for that, at least. He gave a playful glare to the boy before looking over to Anya, who was getting comfy on his other side. He raised a brow before picking a bit off one of the plates. "Why, hello there, gorgeous. Where have you been all-day?" He mocked before nibbling on the little snack. "I slept in," She replied with a small laugh.

Sage easily avoided Luther's frantic jumping about, perching on the side of the bench lightly. Once he slumped back into the bench and asked his question, sage gave him a grin. "Because you were sitting there completely zoned and I can't resist that type of opening," he told him with a slight laugh. He reached over to pick up another bit of food from the tray Anya held and used it as an excuse not to talk once he asked Anya where she was all day. He didn't want to bring the topic up and say something that made Luther suspect anything. He wasn't the brightest, but still. He let his gaze wander over to the training guards, who were sparring in the snow. Doing the usual hacking, bashing moves that only someone trained the same way wouldn't be able to dodge. He made an unimpressed noise in the back of his throat after a moment of watching them. "I thought they were bad when I've fought them but they're even worse now," he mutterd, mostly to himself.

Luther groaned slightly and narrowed his eyes in a playful manner. "There's plenty of other ways to sneak up on a man, y'know, other than shoving snow down his shirt?" Despite his serious tone, he was only messing about... he didn't expect that Sage would take it any other way, though. If he did, then he doubted he'd actually care enough to lean off making a joke about it. Sage didn't seem like the person to hang his head low just because he was told off by a higher-up. That was a good thing, though. He settled a little after a moment, his head resting on his hand with a rather unamused look on his face. "I have to agree with you there. You'd expect the royal guard to have the skill to battle some hobo on the streets, at the very least." He shook his head slightly before giving half a chuckle. "Brute force won't do much if they can't be smart about it." He looked across, wrinkling his nose slightly as they threw themselves about. Luther was lucky in the sense that he was gifted with said strength, but while he was given that, he lacked much street sense. He'd probably be quite a good fighter if he was slightly quicker on his feet, along with being better at reading what people were thinking. Anya looked at the man with a slightly cocked head. "Sounds like you need to take some of your own advice." She crackled softly as she offered some more little tidbits to him. She didn't know much about the whole fighting thing... Sage had tried to teach her about it at some point, but she sort of lost interest and mainly tried to just... be... with him. Though she had picked up a little from him, and from what she could gather, strength helped but being quick and smart was even better. Her little comment only earned her a disapproving glare from Luther. "Oh, shut it, Anya." He grumbled, wrinkling his nose playfully, just to prove he was messing around. He kind of knew she was right, but it was much easier to sit there and criticize than actually do something about it and take your own advice. He thought so, at least. He looked the girl up and down for a moment, giving a slight smirk. She looked fine, though, she was normally very neat, if that was the way to explain it. Today though, she seemed almost... well, brighter, happier, even. Her hair was slightly out of place, but it wasn't bad, per se. Actually, Luther saw it as almost less intimidating. Well, they both looked a little out of place. "What in the world were you doing last night? It's not like you to stay in so late." He murmured with a chuckle, though, it almost seemed like a glossed-over question, like he didn't really care about the answer, that it was just a formality type.

Sage chuckled slightly and grinned back at Luther. "Yeah, but shoving snow down your shirt got a better reaction than just scaring you. Besides, the snows everywhere, ya can't just ignore it." Sage shrugged. "I guess.. they know how to fight in that fashion...sword fighting other knights. Whoever's stronger pretty much wins." He snorted in an amused manner before adding "which is why I don't make a point of using that fighting style unless I decide I wanna get myself murdered." It was honestly a joke, though Anya could take it the wrong way since he'd been serious for a while. But she knew he didn't think like that really now, so she'd be fine. He squinted as he looked back over at the guards. "Their issue is that when they face another fighting style, they can't defend against it," he muttered. "And their muscles are bigger than their brains, if you know what I mean." Sage grinned over at Anya when she started teasing him, and then looked back at Luther. "Apparently she's the brains of the operation, then," he joked. "because according to her, I'm way too reckless and you're not the brightest bloke out there." He looked back out over the field, and then while the other two were talking sent a snowball straight for the guard who was overseeing training, hitting him square in the back. He spun on his heel, yelling at his men not to throw the snow. Sage had given no sign that he'd thrown it other than a slight flick of his arm and wrist. Anya would know though, and possibly Luther. He had an excellent poker face, but the mischievous laughter glittered in his eyes even while his mouth stayed in a firm line.
