Mari looked back at him after a little while, offering a playful looking glare and a huff of air. "You're asking me if I'm gonna be able to get up?" she asked dramatically, pouting slightly. "You're the one with back issues," she mumbled, resting her head on the side of the couch and smiling up at him slightly. She gently laced her fingers through his when he reached for her, though, and leaned in to peck his knuckles happily. "Doesn't matter now... if i'm stuck this is where we're both gonna be until i'm unstuck," she mused.

Sage chuckled softly as she huffed out her complaint at him. "Just making sure," he sort of joked lightly, already shifting to lay down on the couch without really even thinking about it. He was just so tired. Amber had curled up against him stomach, and he had his free arm around her, stroking her slowly. "True. I won't be much help at the moment," he chuckled, though his words had sort of started to slur together. He'd let himself fall asleep soon....but he'd missed this. Amber, Mari, their home. He would rather be in his own bed, but he did t have the energy for that now. He'd get there later....so he was content.

Mari smiled at his teasing comment, although she did force herself to look over at him when his words just slurred together. She was momentarily panicked that something really bad had happened, but soon just shook her head and moved to sit on the edge of the couch while he slept, gently running her fingers through his hair. She stated that way for maybe another five minutes before wandering off to get the room ready, along with making some dinner for the family.

Sage has drifted off pretty quickly once he'd settled down....he supposed travelling and the excitement of coming home had taken its toll on his body. He wasn't in any pain or anything, just tired. Once he'd passed out, though, he didn't have any dreams. He was thankful for it, his sleep was deep and he was at home and comfortable. No nightmares came about, so when he stirred a while later he woke quickly, feeling much better than he had before he's taken the nap. Amber was still curled up next to him, and she let out a soft purr, butting her head against his chest when she noted he was awake. He chuckled softly and scooped her up, wandering into the kitchen, where he could smell something cooking. He plopped down in a chair with a sort of yawn, still cradling the cat in his arms.

Mari had food cooking in the kitchen by the time Sage had wandered through, and she offered him a small smile when he plopped down. "Just soup for dinner - here, try this!" She chirped, filling a ladle just a little bit before wandering over and holding it up to him with a happy looking grin. She was glad to be home. Glad to be back where everyone she'd ever loved where. And, Sage had gotten through here by himself too. He seemed at least well rested. "The kids are still out... I don't think we're ever gonna see them again at this point," she mused lightly.

Sage nodded happily as she apooned out the soup and handed it to him, sort of sniffing it and nodding with a soft hum. "It smells good, babe," he noted, reaching for a spoon and setting the bowl down on the table next to the glass of water that was already sitting there. At her comment about the kids thouhh, he chuckled softly and nodded. "When they get hungry enough, they'll come inside," he mused lightly. He got through the whole bowl, plus most of the glass of water, which he thought was a good sign. He was really full, but he wasn't nauseous or anything either. He hummed a soft of thanks to Mari, leaning back in the chair and petting Amber after a moment or so, letting out a sigh of contentment. "It's good to be home," he noted, looking around fondly.

Mari felt a grin spread across her cheeks when he said it smelled good, really just gla to be in their own space again. She felt like herself when she was at home, and while she was still worried about Sage, he did seem happy to be back. She wouldn't let anything bad happen to him again. She wouldn't say that out loud, though - she'd already made that promise to him, and there had been countless times when poeple had, in fact, hurt him. It wasn't just a promise now, though. Now, it was going to be her lifes mission: keep Sage safe. And Jesus, it was proving to be a though mission at that. "I'll leave something out for them," she hummed as she popped two more bowls on the table. She sort of wandered up behind him when he'd finished, pecking the top of his head and taking the bowl from him. "It feels so... Safe here," she hummed.

Sage had nodded when she mentioned leaving the food out of the kids, chuckling as she plopped the food down for them. "They can warm it up again if need be," he agreed, leaning back into her as she came up behind him, her peck causing a soft smile to cross his face. "Yeah," he agreed softly. He had noticed the new locks on the doors and windows, and while it wasn't much it did make him feel a bit more comfortable. "I'll be glad to sleep in my own bed tonight," he just mused after a moment, clearly just relieved to start getting back into a normal routine.

Mari nodded slightly after a few moments. They were more than old enough now to at least heat their food up. On the other hand, a cold broth may be quite nice. They could do whatever they wanted, really. She did think it was nice to be home... although, she was worried that something would Sage Sage off throughout the night. She'd have to make sure everything was locked up for him. She cleared up after him, then sort of came over with a glass of water and his meds. "Take these and go get comfortable, babe," she hummed, sort of massaging his shoulder from where she was standing. She did want to at leat make sure the kids were in the house before it got dark, so once Sage had waddled off she called them in happily. She soon found her way back to Sage, though. "It is kinda nice to be home, huh," she mused.
