| That's another thing, who you choose to walk in life with you has a massive impact. My younger sister drinks more than I ever have, smokes, and vapes because the person she chose to be with encourages those things. I used to drink here or there, mostly socially with family. My husband doesn't drink much if at all. Ever since I got pregnant with my first in 2023 I stopped drinking completely. If we go to Applebees I'll have a shark bowl, but other than that I don't even keep alcohol in the house. I've no interest in it, even around family. We just naturally stopped being interested in it at all. Hubby will drink a beer if he has friends or family around because it's "manly" and socially praised lmao but we've had beer sitting around for over a year and a half now that he still hasn't touched, it was bought for our baby shower |

| My dad started smoking at 14 and had his first stomach ulcer at 17. He's had so many that the doctor told him when he had his last one, which was 4 years ago now, he needed to slow down or stop smoking completely because he didn't have enough stomach lining left to fix if he had another one |

| Mellow. I know, it’s a tough situation. I moved in with my boyfriend and his family bc I couldn’t afford to live in dorms anymore. The whole household is terrified of his dad, he’s extremely abusive. There’s nothing we can really do about it. I’m trying to save up to move into my own place but the housing market where I live is insane. I work full and study full time and I barely afford to live. It’s rough haha things will get better once I graduate though and get my drivers license |

| I mean, it used to be pretty common to put a bit of whiskey in baby bottles to help babies sleep or to rub it on their gums to help with teething |

| oh yea thats an old way parents would try to get their teens not to smoke xD "youre gunna sit here and smoke that entire pack ,youll learn your lesson to not smoke after that" like ok grandpa, thats not how that works , yea theyll get super sick but its pushing them more towards addiction lol |

| For me it was my mental health and wanting people to like me. After a lot of therapy I’ve realised I don’t need to do dumb stuff like that. My bf is amazing and he supports me, he doesn’t smoke or drink himself |

| I don't disagree dimmy, but some people just don't have the willpower to do it alone--there has to be a system to help them overcome that I mean my hubby knows he's got tendencies to alcoholism in his genetics, so he limits himself at all times. but he has a ridiculous willpower and self-motivation |

| hollow- youre more then allowed to set some boundaries with your partner about it as well! like no smoking in the house, or have one room designated to it for example. when my partner and i first got our house that was a big rule we had prior to purchase (luckily all our rentals didnt allow indoor smoking, so he was already in the habbit of smoking outside ) but we set the rule to garage only, as the previous owners already smoked there so i didnt care but wanted to keep the house clean / smoke free |

| yeah if you have addictive history in your family it's often best to steer 100% clear rather than be tempted, but it's certainly easier said than done |

| Mellow, Yes same here. When I was 19 I moved from my VERY small town to live in dorms at uni 4 hours away. I fell into some horrible habits from my peers. I grew up very sheltered so I wanted to try everything. Vapes were terrible bc they were so easily accessible and cheap enough. And they tasted amazing lol I still have the voice in my head telling me to vape. Even tho it’s been 2 years since I last touched one |
