"Ohh that kind of tech." He tilted his head slightly. Navy, made at least some sense for her. "I'm not sure I like the powerless feeling." He chuckled quietly. "I love cars, trucks. In anybother life I'd have been a mechanic or street racer. Driving was drilled into my bones the moment my father brought home the Ladybug- before I was born. My mother told him it looked funny. He painted her like this in her honor. Ladybugs were her favorite." He smiled slightly. This car was basically a family heirloom.

"It's not for everyone." Tempe smiled, tilting her head and listening to him intently. She retracted again, ever so slightly, at the continued mention of his father. "She has quite the background then, huh?" Tempe smiled, thinking for a moment. "Favorite childhood pet? And if you didn't have one, then your dream childhood pet."

He glanced over at her, noticing how she didn't like it when he mentioned his dad. "She was an Entomologist. Kinda picked up a knack or two from her." He smiled slightly. "She was the only person I knew that did not have a hatred for mosquitos." He shuddered slightly. He thought about her question. "..we had one, he was a toad. He lived in a gallon glass jar in the kitchen. My mother had dirt, water and some grass among other things in there for him, and then put usually half a tomato in there. It would attract fruit flies for him to eat. His name was Fido, because my father liked jokes- he was the protector of our home from fly infestation." He smiled at the memory. "You?"

"Ooh, that's not a career path you see every day." Tempe smiled, wincing as he mentioned mosquitos. "Well, she must have been an extremely compassionate person. I'm a literal angel and I still believe mosquitos should be eradicated from earth." She smiled, tilting her head as she listened to him. She raised her eyebrows in surprise as he continued. "Not what I was expecting, but very cool none the less. I had a plain old golden retriever named Daisy. Sweetest dog you ever met. My mother and I had to beg my father, but he let us keep it."

He smiled over at her, she seemed more open when he spoke of his mother. He wasn't too fond of that. He was going to run out of things to say. Most of what he knew about her was what his dad had said. "Fido was a good toad." He snickered. "That sounds very sweet, I always wanted a dog. But I worried it would be too stressful to always be on the road, so I never did." He tapped the wheel slightly. "What was your back-up job? Like if you ended up not getting into or kicked out of the navy?"

"I'm sure he was. It's a noble job, protecting a household from flies." Tempe chuckled, nodding. "That's really sweet of you, actually. Better than getting a dog knowing you can't give it the environment it needs." She said lightly, tilting her head at him and offering a smile. It was, really. "Mm, good question. And just for the record, I wouldn't need a backup, I was top of my class. But in theory, a vet, maybe. Always loved animals. What about you? What would you do if you weren't set on being a ghostbuster?"

He giggled at her joke, Fido was very effective. "Most of what stopped me was trying to figure out what breed I wanted." He said in a humble tone, looking over at her with a slightly embarrassed expression after she called him sweet. "Fortunately there really isn't a way to fail, it's more of a 'if you don't learn you will die' kinda job. There isn't any quitting either, once you're in, you're in. Hardly know any old hunters." He joked. "But of course I would have to fall on mechanic if the option was there." He smiled at her. Edited at November 24, 2023 04:56 PM by Prismatic Cove

"The fact that you thought of if at all still counts." Tempe argued, refusing to let him be humble now. She chuckled at his slightly embarrassed expression, rolling her eyes. His explanation of Ghostbusting made her grin and let out a slight giggle. "Let's hope you're halfway decent so my job is easy." She smiled, teasing. "Wow, I absolutely never would have figured that." She mocked. "Alright, to bring it out of career, when was the last time you were in a serious relationship?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow at him in a mocking way.

He pursed his lips, glaring over at her. He slowed down and took a turn on a road West. "I'm still alive so I've been doing good so far." He rolled his eyes, speeding up, settling around 50 miles an hour. "Never been in one, most recent lasted about two weeks. Spent the rest of highschool as the jock everyone stared at but never talked to. Couple one-night-stands but flings don't count on my relationship status." He glanced over at her. "And youu?"

"Mhm, sure. That gives me total confidence." Tempe teased, raising her eyebrows in surprise at his answer. "Oh, I see. Non committal with lots of notches on the belt, duly noted." She teased, tilting her head at him. "I didn't take you for a jock. Star player of the football team, I'm sure." She mocked, shrugging. "Meh, I was a wild child in college. Quite a few flings. I was engaged for a very tiny bit of time, but he cheated and uh... that didnt end well for him. That's the most major and the longest." She shrugged.
