Sage hummed in agreement and chuckled at the girl's tease, closing his eyes and sitting down, ignoring the girl completely. After ten minutes, he opened his eyes and dropped to all fours so he could track her easily. That was just part of being part werewolf, he supposed....when he was tracking or whatever, he would go on all fours comfortably and could stay like that for a while. Her scent stopped after a while, and he circled the spot for a moment before assuming she'd used a deer...he could smell both scents strongly here, and he could read the tracks well enough to get an understanding of what she'd done. He half followed the scent and half watched for the girl's foot prints, which occasionally showed up.

Quinn asked a dove to go and tell her where Sage was, and when it came back and said he was following the deer scent she groaned. "It'd Be easier if he wasn't so smart." Quinn muttered. She told the same exact two deer she had the scent of to go cross her trail a couple times, zigzagging around. It would smell like the same deer. "Let's see if that fools him." Quinn thought, grinning. She hunkered lower and stayed quiet

Sage followed the trail until he got to the spot where the deets train got.... complicated, to say the least. He circled the spot slightly, eyeing the tracks and chuckled slightly. "Smart," he muttered to himself before raising his head and cocking his head to listen to see if he could hear the girl. He could hear a couple different things, but not anything that he could be certain was Quinn, so he sat back and studied the tracks in the ground again, nose twitching lightly. He started circling the spot again, going wider and wider until he saw another track. He followed that then, and while it took a bit more time, there was no mistaking where the girl was when he suddenly smelled her again, strong. The deer scent was wearing off a bit. He raised his head and looked around until he noted slight movement in a bush. He met the girls eyes with a grin and winked before lunging at her to try and catch her.

Quinn saw him coming ad when he made eye contact, she froze, ready. Then he lunged at her, and, as quick as a deer, she jumped out of the way, darting into the bush. Quinn ran, pounding through the forest, not a bead of sweat on her forehead. She ran lightly and almost silently, like a shadow flitting through the trees. She tried to lose him by going through thick bushes so he could see her, them turning and darting back the way she came. She went through a creek a ways to lose the scent, then over a log so her scent wasn't on the ground. She laughed as she thought of who's trick she was isinglass. "I'm using fox tricks to outsmart a wolf... that usually works." She thought with a gleam in her eye, running faster. By now she had lost Sage in all those twists and turns (if not for long) and he'd have to go on scent alone. She ran upstream through another stream, then downstream through another one before she decided to do her famous trick. Quinn knew the air didn't hold very good scent, and it was a windy day. She looked till she's found a low hanging tree, but higher than Sages head, and leapt into it. She climbed across the branches, to the left, into another tree, and then into another one, then she dropped down about 200 yards from where she went up. Quinn quickly hid in another thick patch of scrubs, waiting.

Sage followed the girl quickly, and just as silently as the girl. Though, she was a bit quicker than he was, and she'd done a pretty good job of taking off again. He was pretty impressed...he definitely hadn't expected her to be so good in the woods. But no matter, he was pleasantly surprised....it made this whole thing much more fun. He could follow her scent though, as he did last time. He'd just have to be careful about it. He did, admittedly, have a bit of a challenge figuring out where she'd gone once he got to the stream...it was obvious she'd used the water to disguise her scent, which was a smart move, but it would slow her down to run through water. He pricked his ears, and heard distant splashing, so he loped along the banks of the streams until he came to the spot where a wet trail showed him exactly where she'd gone. The trail soon stopped though, and it seemed as though she'd disappeared into a tree trunk. He halted, hesitantly sniffing around, obviously confused as he circled the tree for a moment, thinking through what the girl may have done. She was smart, and resourceful, and there was no scent anywhere but drifting faintly through the air here and there so...she'd used the air somehow. He climbed the tree, figuring that would help him scout her out. He noticed the branch was a bit wet, which solved the issue of how the girl had disguised her scent. He raised his head to peer around. He noticed the girl sitting in some bushes, and hopped back down to scramble over to her tree and looked over at her with a slight hum. "That was some good running away you've done, why don't you come and try fighting now," he he called up, his eyes glowing daringly.

Quinn saw Sage looking confused, but then climbing the tree. She silently frowned. "Why does he have to be so good at tracking?" She thought, then he jumped down from the tree. "Fine, fighting." Quinn stood, her chin jutting out. "Though you know you'll win. Remember. 5 seconds. And it's shoulders touching the ground." She looked around, then quickly ran, literally wall climbing the tree and bouncing off of it like a pogo spring, flying toward Sage with the force he would have had If he just ran at her. She slammed into his upper body, making him (at least stumble), then jumped off and used a vine to try to trip him and wrap around his feet.

Sage hadn't expected the girl to take a flying leaps at him, so she admittedly pretty much bowled him over. He sprang to his feet though, quickly enough, a wide grin on his face. He dodged the girl's attempt to tie him up and lept at the girl, now more on the offensive than defensive. Honestly, this was fun, so he wanted to continue this as long as possible. He may loose, but he also wasn't using his full force either. The fight would be over too quickly that way.

Quinn's eyebrows pulled together, her trademark sign of concentration... or when she was thinking up a plan. Suddenly Sage left at her, and caught her off guard. His body slammed into her, and she practically did a backflip, landing on her feet. She used this as the perfect set up for her plan. She back away, pretending to be slightly scared. Sage followed (hopefully), and Quinn stopped when she was up against a tree. Sage thought he had her cornered, but then Quinn jumped up the tree, climbing so quickly to a branch that was now right above Sage's head, courtesy of him moving. She dropped onto him from above, then grabbed onto his chest and kicked the tree, at the same time throwing her body sideways. All this top heavy weight getting thrown around made Sage at least stumble, you choose if he falls Edited at March 24, 2023 05:27 PM by Wild Warmbloods
