Sage had frozen for a few moments before a comment of "oh yes, hell do quite nicely" from the woman broke him out of his trance, yanking his head out of her grasp. Of course, he couldn't go far because of the two men holding him there, and the movement clearly just pissed her off. He tried to yank his arms away from the men with a growl, but they simply tightened their grips on him. He managed to keep from wincing, but not before the woman's high heeled shoe connected with his sternum. He flew backwards, all the breath leaving his lungs and head slamming against the concrete as he landed on his back. If he had any air left in him, he'd have snapped something brilliant like "oh, now you let me go," to the men, but as it were he couldn't breathe and as a result couldn't talk. He just shot them a withering glare. They didn't care. The woman had crouched above him now, and since he didn't have use of his arms or voice, he just send a glob of spit in her direction. It hit her in the eye. He'd been aiming for her forehead, but this worked too. She kept back with an enraged yell, wiping at her eye as the men fell back on him. He wasn't sure what all they were doing, but he'd gone numb after a while, his blood splattered around the corner he'd wound up in. The men parted eventually, and through his hazy gaze, the woman appeared. Despite his condition, a smirk formed on his face when he noticed her makeup was messed up. The satisfaction only lasted for so long though, since she hit him across the lake, completely knocking him out. He wasn't sure how much time had passed, but he woke up in a bed. He would have been appreciative, if he didn't immediately know what had happened, and that made his stomach churn. He shot up, but immediately choked and flopped back down, noticing the thick collar around his neck connected to the bed chain once the pain had faded.

Mari found herself stumbling after the doctor, clearly more than devastated about the whole thing. She didn't know what to do with herself, and her thoughts were running wild. She really didn't know what had happened, other than Sage had very clearly been taken. But what was it for? Had he done something wrong? Was he okay? Alive? That last thought made her heart race. She just wanted him home, safe and alive. She'd tried not to say too much to their children about the whole thing, just that they were going to see their grandmother, but she couldn't hide what was going on for long. On the same hand, she couldn't bear to tell them that their father was missing. She was so scared to find out what state he'd be in if they did find him. Before she'd even realised, she found herself stood in the office, staring at their soon to be queen. She was talking to the doctor, and the man seemed to be getting increasingly frustrated with the woman. Mari swalloed hard, trying to figure out exactly what was being said, but her ears were ringing with blood and her mind was too full to really take in what was being said. But, it was something along the lines of the queen not being able to do much. How could she not do much? Her friend was missing - Sage thought the world of her, how could she not do much? She'd said it was because so many had been missing recently, and she couldn't make special acceptions, but she had to now. She had to do a better job of looking after her people, especially the ones that cared for her. She bit her cheeks, her heart only racing harder. "You have to help! I can't f-find him myself - you know what he's like, and if someone managed to take him then they have to be dangerous... I-I need help," she told her, her voice a mix between shouting and and a sobby whisper. After more back and fourth between Anya and the Doctor, she seemed to agree to look into it... send a few people out.

Sage had attempted to twist around and get his bearings as he woke up a little bit more. His head was pounding and it hurt like hell to breathe....well, actually everything sort of hurt. He let out a soft groan as he craned his neck to get a glimpse of the room he was in, making out what he could with swirly eyesight. They still seemed to be in the wooden building they were in before....it was clearly huge, maybe some sort of abandoned factory or hotel or something. This room was furnished though....a bad, dresser, curtains, and piled full of things only bought with loads of money. His mouth dried out as he raced to try and understand who these people were. They hadn't asked about the rebellion or castle....hadnt even mentioned it. So he'd keep quiet about that. Not that he'd give up any information anyway. He was broken out of his thoughts when the men barged into the room, grabbing him again. They unclipped the chain from the end, but kept the top tight collar around his neck. He scowled, breathing out a string of curses that were quickly beat out of him. The must have lost consciousness for a moment or two, because when he came to he was being drug down the hallway like a dead deer. He tried to scramble to his feet, but his legs seemed to be rather useless at the moment. He was shoved into a room with a bunch of....some sort of vegetable. He really couldn't see that well. They untied his hands then, clearly expecting him to work. They pointed to the vegetables, which he'd figured to be corn when they practically snarled "husk them" at him. He overturned the crate and sent it towards one of their heads. They both kept at him, and when he woke he was chained to the wall in a dark room. He could hear water dripping somewhere, and rats scurrying around. He also realized he just had some sort of loincloth made of a rather itchy fabric on. That just annoyed him more. His wrists were cuddled to the wall on each side of him, and his neck only had a few inches of chain. His wrists didn't have much more. He growled, attempting to shift, and immediately cried out in pain before biting his lip to stop it short, bringing blood in the process. His breathing became shallow then as his panic is overtook his mind. Claustrophobia, yea, but also worry about Mari and the kids. Were they ok? What had happened to them? If he never came back, would they be able to make ends meet? We're the animals being cared for? Mari had to be loosing her mind over this. Did Anya know? Would she even care? She clearly couldn't send her military out looking for him, he would never expect that, but was she aware they were kidnapping people? He'd seen other rooms like his, surely he wasn't the only one this was happening to. They needed to stop it.

Mari zoned out for the longest while as the Doctor and Anya spoke, clerly very concerned about the whole thing. She was scared... she knew all of this could go wrong quite quickly. If Sage died... hell, she didn't know what she'd do. She couldn't bring herself to believe he'd die. Sage was so strong, so smart... but he hadn't been in a situation where he couldn't handle himself before. Whoever these people were, he hadn't been able to fend for himself. They had to be dangerous. That was if he'd been taken at all. When she saw the doctor leaving, closely followed by Anya, all she could do was follow along. God, what was she even doing? Was this how useless she was? She didn't even know where to start with finding him. Anya had a team that could help, and the doctor had years of experiance with all of this... Mari? Nothing. She'd barely left the house in years, she'd lost any sense of... anything from the slums. And, if other people were goind missing, she had to help them too. Maybe they'd be where Sage was? Hopefully. Within the next few hours, she found that Anya had sent a small team to try and track these people down... surely if they'd taken a few people, they couldn't have gone far. Maybe these people had Sage, too. Mari grabbed a few things, and soon she and the Doctor had headed out behind them... She wanted to help in any way she could, even if she wasn't sure how useful she could be.

Sage had lost all sense of time while in that room. He was in there for a while though, what he could only assume to be a couple of days since he heard the gaurds in the hallway switch every so often. It was a repeating cycle, and since he had nothing better to do, he counted. Every six hours they would switch out. That meant he'd been cooped up in there for almsot three days before they came for him again. This time, he couldn't put up much of a fight....without food or water for so long, his body could only do so much. He could tell he'd lost weight already....they had to tighten all the chains before moving him. Before he could really process anything, he was back at the room before this solitary room being told to do...something. He didn't quite catch what they'd been saying. He frowned at them blearily. A cup of water was splashed onto his face, causing him to cough and sputter, as he wasn't expecting that. He got a little in his mouth, which he was grateful for, but he had enough fight left in him to whack the man behind him with his now wet hair. Of course, that earned him another whack...well it was significantly more than one, but at that point he just didn't care.

The enxt few days seemed to pass in a blurr. She didn't have half a clue what was going on, and she hadn't had a moment to check in on the kids or... anything, really. She was so focused on finding Sage, because by god she had to find him. She could only hope he was okay. The people she was with seemed to be on some sort of trail after asking around families that had lost their loved ones. The doctor was doing the best he could to make sure she was calm, although that wasn't an easy job to do. They'd managed to find some people who seemed to have some suspisions about an old factory and a joining log cabin. It all seemed fairly... interesting. They'd been watching the place for the morning, Mari couldn't understand why they wouldn't just go in there. Find out whatever they could. There were people going in and out of the place, and considering how abandoned it was, it made her skin crawl. Sage had to be in there... she'd been loosing hope about the whole thing with every passing second. She'd been less worried about finding him alive, and more worried about just... finding him. It sounded morbid, and she knew that, but it was just the way it was down here. She'd rather find a body to bury than nothing at all. Of course, she wanted him to be okay, but she was being incredibly realistic about the whole thing. She knew what they may find. She looked up when the group of maybe seven or eight men started straightening themselves up, instructing the Doctor and Mari herself to stay put while they went and looked into the place. The guns on them told her it probabaly wouldn't be a civil matter, but that was becoming less and less important to her with every passing second.

Sage woke in another dark room after a while raising his head with a groan. He blinked a few times, registering this wasn't his previous room. It was different....more underground. There were whispers around, and while he couldn't hear what they were saying the noise of a woman's shrill voice cause a smirk to form on his face. It was just a small one...barely a twitch of his lips. But it was there. It meant something was wrong, and if something was wrong, then they were being found out. Good. He was distracted when something heavy was pretty much slammed onto his shoulders, and he twisted around with a growl, only to find he really couldn't move very much. There was a yoke on his shoulders, and the men were now at work attaching his hands to it as well. The surprise overtook him for a moment, brain scrambling at what to do, and by that time they'd se used him to the heavy wood. He was still standing, but barely. They'd tugged him forward, but he resisted beat he could. A burst of pain caught him on the back, and only a split second later did he heard the crack of a whip against flesh. Were they....they were whipping him. Like he was livestock. Then he realized...to them that's what he was. Just a lowerclass citizen to be sold off. Anger burned in his gut, but another few stings of the whip caused a knee to buckle and he went down with a yell. He did do his best to rise, but it was just so heavy and the whip was relentless and...well, he just don't have the strength for it. He heard a snarl of something a long the lines of "useless dog" and then they started dragging him over the dirt floor. It should have hurt more, but it didn't. He supposed hed just reached his max.

Mari watched the men as they explained what was gonna happen. She barely took any of it in, but she had to trust their word. She was handed a knife, although she did have to look towards the Doctor for some form of help. He just sighed, taking in the still rather distraught looking womans face for a moment before thinking his words over. "They're gonna go in there and try and clear the place out. Give it... maybe five minutes and we'll go in after," he paused, wrapping a soft hand around the womans hand, nodding towards the kife. "You use this if you have to. See if you can find Sage and we'll see if anyone else needs your help," he explained carefully. He could only hope Mari was as on her toes as she used to be. That she could look after herself enough to stay alive if anyone jumped her. Mari just nodded slowly, her eyes looking towards a door that the group of men stormed into. She flinched for a moment at the sound of almost instant gunfire, but as the old doctor got up she found herself following him nearly silently. She was trembling all over. What if they did find Sage there? What shape could he possibly be in? She drew in a sharp breath as she turned a corner, seeing that the men were still fighting off rather rugged looking people. She quickly turned her attention to the doors, forcing her way into all of them.... there were so many people. None of them seemed to be very old, and there were young children in nearly every room. They all looked awful, and understandably terrified. She pointed them out telling them to head into the woodlands and stay together, that they'd help them as soon as they were done here. Although, her stomach only churned more and more as she made her way around, flinching at the occasional gunshot or shout from the people fighting. Her heart dropped with every door that she opened, and it was only getting deeper when she couldn't seem to find her husband. She called out for him as they moved further into the building as the halls were cleared, letting more people out of the pitiful cells they were being kept in as they went.

Sage could feel his consciousness leaving him as he struggled to stay awake. To just keep breathing, keep fighting....even if he didn't know how he'd be able to. They were breaking him....they'd done a damn good job of it already. He could feel his shell cracking. He jumped when he heard the gunshots ring out through the barn, the wood above them shaking. The men holding him halted, giving him a chance to get himself to his feet in an adrenaline induced miracle of sorts. The men looked at each other, and then people upstairs started screaming, sage knew he had to do something. He twisted around, knocking one of the men unconscious, and then nailing the other guy with the other side of the yoke as he turned. He used his last bit of strength to ram the wood against what he'd assumed to be the door in the ceiling, hoping to alert whoever was reaching people there were more people underground. They had hidden them all once they noticed people coming he imagined.

Mari and the doctor found their way through the halls, trying their hardest to get unconsious and frankly broken people just... out of this place. She didn't know how long they'd been here, but you would assume a while considering the state of them. They all looked to be in pain, like years had been taken from them. It hurt her more than anything, and even if Sage wasn't here, she was glad to be useful. They soon found themselves in the wooden barn, after fighting through a small group of people, Mari managing to be at least a little useful with her kife, though, looking through the place that was seeming to be oddly quiet. If there was anyone here, she couldn't help but think they'd be too scared to come out, especially with all the gunshots and yelling. Hell, she was scared and she was probably the safest person here. They were moving for another half hour until she heard banging from... the floor? She looked around rather quickly, until she noticed small holds in a few of the doors. She pulled at one of them, only to find maybe two of three people huddled up in a tiny room. She helped pull them all out quickly, trying to calm the people who struggled to get away from them. She understood it... but scaring them a little now in order to get them somewhere safe was better than wasting time. She gestured to the doctor when she realised just how many of these little holds there were, and started making her way through them until the banging on one of them just got louder. She drew in a rather sharp breath and pulled it up, her knife more than ready encase she was jumped at or... something.
