Sage hummed softly, nodding, though he wasn't sure whether he believed her or not. Part of him did, part of him didn't. It was confusing. "I wish I didn't have to," he murmured softly. Not that he didn't enjoy taking care of his family, but he wished that they'd just be safe. That there was no danger to them he needed to fight against. Though, at her next comment a small smile twitched the corner of his lip upwards. "If I got really hurt I'd have told you," he noted. "I just....sort of forgot about it for a while," he added, in a sort of quiet apology. Then, "it's on my left shoulder blade." He didn't care if she wanted to see it or not, but telling her where it was at reminded her he did trust her. He wanted her there. He appreciated her care.

Mari let out a soft breath, and sort of turned her her to press her lips into his hair in a comforting soft of kiss. She wished he didn't have to either. She wanted nothing more than to keep them all safe and happy. "Yeah, I know," she whispered, giving him a soft squeeze. "But, it's better than it used to be... we used to worry about so much all the time. I know this was scary... but when's the last time you had to do that?" she asked softly. She wished he didn't have to fight... didn't have to be in danger, but she was glad he was safe. For the most part. She gave him a small smile when he told her where it was, and sat up a little. "How on earth did you manage to stitch up your own shoulder blade?" She asked with a small chuckle, gesturing for him to turn around.

Sage hummed softly in thought when she spoke up again, nodding along. "I suppose it has been a while," he admitted. Movement caught his eye though, and he shifted his gaze to what he saw, frowning slightly when he noticed blood seeping out from under the wall. Then he blinked, and it was gone. Things like that had been happening again, here and there, ever since there has been real blood in the house. It made him nervous. Though, when Mari spoke up again he wrinkled his nose as he shifted. "Practice, I suppose," he noted with a grimace. "And a good mirror."

Mari nodded gently, her gaze following his to the wall before looking back to him. It was bound to happen at some point... but he'd one a good job of looking after them all. "It has to have been a good few years since you've been in a proper fight, hm?" she hummed, offering a smile. "You've still got it, old man," she mused lightly. She watched him shift and sort of moved herself behind him, peaking under his shirt to see a rather gnarly looking wound. Her nose wrinkled slightly, and she let out a slow breath. He'd said it wasn't bad, but really anything that needed stitching was bad. "You must have had a great mirror to reach that at all," she murmured, sort of wandering off to find a cotton pad and some antiseptic cream to put on it.

Sage couldn't help but chuckle in response to her old man comment. "I am a bit relieved to know I can still do what needs to be done," he admitted. He just wished he didn't need to. Part of him still relished the feel of a fight. The adrenaline, the way it made his brain worked...all of it. The other part of him was scared of how easily he could kill and not feel bad about it. Though, when Mari moved to clean the wound out, he grunted in response. "Just used the one in the bathroom," he noted. Of course, it had been that afternoon, after even stopping at the castle. "The universe is against this shoulder," he grumbled. "It's been shot three times and stabbed or cut more than I can count," he added with a somewhat amused snort.

Mari nodded in agreement. I was nice to know he could still do it all... that he could still protect their home if he really had to. She was really just greatful that this was, hopefully, a one time thing. "You gotta teach Silas at some point," she mused. She hoped the child wouldn't ever need to be worried like that, but it would be good to know he could protect himself if he needed to. Of course, what Sage knew couldn't be taught... but she supposed anything would be useful to Silas. "Lemme tidy it up. You did a good job of it, considering where it is," she mused softly to him. She cleaned it up a little, since it was probabaly a little infected, then gave him a small chuckle. "You're lucky you can still move that arm at all at this point," she hummed.

Sage couldn't help but wince when she mentioned Silas. "I shouldn't have to," he snorted, scowling at his hands, fingers going again. A drop of his blood hit the floor, and as he watched it spread, soaking the carpet and baskets on the floor. He shifted to sit with his feet up on the couch so it didn't eat on his clothes. He would teach Silas, when he was old enough to understand. Liz too, and Att needed to know now he supposed. If war happened Att would be a knight in the thick of it. His stomach churned at the thought. He grunted in agreement to Mari tidying up the cut, as it had been sore and it was hard for him to clean. "I suppose so," he mused, nodding along. "I'm rather surprised I can," he admitted

Camery grumbled soflty in response, then nodded. he was right. he shouldn't have to do any of this. He shouldn't be worried about any of this... but he was, they all were, and that was okay. That was how it had to be for the time being, "I know, baby," she whispered gently after a moment. She knew he shouldn't have to worry the way he h did... but she couldn't do much about it now. She took his hands back as she noticed then bleeding, although didn't say anything. Instead, she just sighed. "We'love fix you up. Don't worry," she hummed. He'd done a good job of stitching... but it needed a good clean. She could do that. "Me too. Cool how your body can fix itself though, huh?" she asked lightly.

Sage just frowned as Mari spoke, shaking his head with a rather defeated sounding sigh. "My body is as tired as my brain," he noted softly. He had aged....and while his body remembered what to do, how to take a life in the most efficient way possible...it couldn't keep up the pace he used to. One fight had been fine...but if there had been more people, or they'd had actual weapons, or had come with a ourpose other than chaos....well, he wasn't sure he'd be able to do it all in one go. He certainly wouldn't come out unscathed. This proved it. Maybe he was being too negative. He was supposed to be positive, to encourage Mari. Protect them, and that included from worry. He was failing. Pretty miserably, too.

Mari couldn't help her small frown at his comment, and once she'd cleaned him up she gently pressed her lips into the centre of his back. She just smiled softly after a moment, trying to think of... something to say. "It happens when you get older," she hummed softly. She felt it too, sometimes... but Sage wasn't lacking anywhere. This had been scary, but he'd managed... and she could help defend their home if he was struggling. She took one of his hands when she noticed it bleeding, and gently wiped the blood from it before going to bin the cotton pad. She wandered back over, pulling his shirt back down over his back before flopping down into the couch, tugging him on not her lap. "You did a good job yesterday, though. It could have been worse," she reminded him lightly.
