Sage wrapped an arm around Mari and the kids once he'd settled down in the floor and they'd leaned against him. It was nice to relax, after such an eventful morning, so he sort of just leaned his head back against the wall and closed his eyes, suddenly really tired as the morning sort of crashed down on him.

Mari stayed settled next to him, her arm around her son and her eyes on their daughter as she rested against Sage. They were both lulling in and out of sleep by now, and it looked like Sage was nearly there too. She sighed and gently poked his side after a few minutes, once she was sure the kids were asleep. "Go to bed for a while. We'll be alright," she whispered softly.

Sage half started when Mari poked him, blinking as he got his bearings and then grunted in agreement, shifting Liz off him gently and handing her over to Mari with a soft smile. "You should get some rest too," he noted softly to her. If she wasn't tired then he didn't expect her to go back to bed at all, but she was just just as early as he was.

Mari gave him an apologetic look when he began to stir, but wrapped an arm tightly around Liz when he moved. "I'll go rest tonight. I don't... I can't leave them," she whispered, gesturing to their exhausted children who where flat out. She leaned over to peck his cheek before carefully standing up, taking Liz back to her bed, then did the same with Silas. She tucked the sleeping children in carefully before pulling a chair over to sit near the bed she'd put the two in. She didn't want to leave them alone, and they seemed to be taking comfort in having each other there... so she just went to grab a book to read while they rested. She couldn't even begin to imagine what Silas would have been thinking that morning... it must have felt so similar to when he'd been kidnapped. The poor thing still had scars from that. Yet, he'd been brave, and he'd held onto his little sister like his life had depended on it, even if they were safe upstairs. Edited at May 10, 2025 06:10 PM by Belle

Sage pursed his lips slightly, nodding when she said she couldn't leave them. He understood that...and while he didn't really want to leave his little family either, he was also falling asleep on his feet. He'd only be a room over, and if something happened he'd know. So, he drug himself to his feet, moving to change into clean pajamas and then passing out pretty much the moment his head hit the pillow and he got himself nestled in.

Mari stayed settled down, reading to hersef quietly for a good few hours. At least until early evening time, when the kids started to stirr. She cooed them back to sleep... they'd had a scare, and they needed rest. A lot of it. So did Sage. So, once she was sure they'd drifted back off she got up to check in on him. The place was still a mess from when they'd woken up in a rush. She sighed and went to sit on the side of the bed, staring at the floor. There must have been... something they'd done wrong to deserve that. To deserve strangers breaking into their home.

Sage had slept for most of the afternoon, though when he finally stirred, he noticed Mari sitting down beside him. He smiled softly, sort of peering over at her sleepily. "You can come on the bed you know," he sort of teased her, voice crackly with sleep. "What's wrong," he added softly, knowing she was worried about this all...and the fact that she wasn't on the bed just confirmed it.

Mari sat silently, her mind slowly reeling about the whole thing. What had they done to deserve that? They'd kept to themselves the last few years. They'd done nothing that'd prompt something like that. Why on earth would they break in? What would have happened if they'd found their kids? Or if Sage had gotten hurt? And now their queen wanted him to go find out about whatever this was. If anyone caught on that he was feeding information back to the castle, they would kill him. She jumped slightly when she heard his voice, and her brows pinched together. She looked over at him, a tiny smile across her face. "I know, I just..." she sighed, shaking her head slowly as she tried to figure out what she was trying to say. "I'm good just sitting." She didn't want to be caught off guard again, really. She gave him a little bit of a look when he asked what was up. "Nothing's wrong," she whispered, shifting slightly to sit next to where he was laying. "Don't worry, just try and get back to sleep..." she murmured.

Sage hummed softly with a small chuckle, sort of shifting onto his side so he could peer up at her as she sat on the bed. "Mari, I know you, and I can tell you're worried," he mused gently. He'd sort of rested his head against her leg softly with a grunt when she mentioned going back to sleep. "I just slept most of the day. The horses are going to be hungry and there's still plenty of things to do," he noted with a quick shake of his head. He'd need to get up if he wanted to sleep tonight at all too.

Mari looked down at him as he shifted, and moved to run her fingers through his hair gently as his head rested on her leg. She just nodded in response, though, tilting her head back and drawing in a deep breath. "Well there you go then. I'm worried," she mumbled. Why wouldn't she be worried? This had all been.... scary. She hadn't been so scared since Silas had been kidnapped. She'd thought they were all safe. She knew no one had been hurt, but they could have been and it was more than stressing her out. She gave him a look after a moment, and shook her head. "Just get them fed and put them all out. I want you here," she murmured.
