Sage didn't mind sitting there with her...she had as long as she wanted or needed. "Do you want anything to eat or drink," he asked softly after a bit, since it was now late enough in the morning for it to be about that time of day. He didn't mind making up something quickly for the two of them. He would hook chaos up to the cart and bring her back to the castle whenever she was ready...until then he would do whatever he could to help.

Anya glanced back up at him when she heard his voice, and nodded quietly. "Yeah, that would be nice," she murmured, drawing in a shaky breath before letting it out again quietly. Her ears were ringing, and her head hurt, so something to eat would be... good, probably. She didn't have anywhere else she had to be, not for a while now. She'd get to the castle eventually, though. Sort a few things out that would keep everything in order until her coronation. She found herself a little relieved that Sage would be there for that. He'd get to see it - he'd be proud of her. She'd be proud of him for making it this long.

Sage nodded and moved to get up, heading for the kitchen where he filled up a cup of water and tossed together some toast and fruit for the two of them before padding back to the couch where Anya was still perched quietly. He set the cup down on the table next to them, offering her the plate and then sitting down with his own food and drink. "Stay here for however long you want," he noted quietly. "I can hook chaos up to the carriage and bring you back when you're ready to," he added.

Anya kept her eyes on her hands as Sage wandered off. There was so much that needed to be done. Yes, having someone to keep a lid on things while she had time to mourn would be good... but she'd still have to handle the whole Kingdom alone. That had to be what was scariest about it all. If her parents had stepped down, and left time to help her then it would be easier... but that wasn't going to happen, and it certainly wasn't gonna happen now. She sighed and looked over at the plate as he handed it to her, and gave a small smile and a nod. "Thank you," she murmured. She only managed a few bites before putting the plate down, her stomach churning at the idea of actually having to swallow anything. When he offered to take her back, she nodded again. "That would be really helpful. The doctor had really been missing you too," she hummed softly.

Sage nodded in response to her comment, offering her a small smile. When she mentioned the doctor he nodded, sort of nibbling on his bottom lip. "I suppose I should visit," he admitted. The doctor would be grieving too. He should say hi to att too, he hadn't been over there in a while and the boy could probably use some time in the barn, get away from all the grief for a few hours. "Just let me know when you're ready to go back," he added softly. "Take as long as you need." Edited at February 10, 2025 01:39 PM by NightClan

Anya nodded quietly. She wouldn't be able to speak to the doctor, not now. They'd grown apart over the years, and she only ever went to him if she really needed him. She sighed at that thought. He'd been something of a Thayer figure to her at some point, when he own dad hadn't been there for her. He'd never left her, or hurt her, but the king... he was never much of a dad. He'd had his heir, and that was all he needed. "He probably needs to talk to someone," she noted quietly. The doctor was strong, but he'd just lost someone he did care about. It was hard. She knew that. She nodded when he said to take her time, though. "I don't want to go back," she whispered softly.

Sage nodded with a sort of hum, leaning back onto the cushions with a sigh. "I'll probably stay for a bit when we head over there," he thought out loud. "How's Att doing with all this," he asked after a moment. The boy wasn't super close to either of them, but he did interact with them as part of the family quite a bit, so no doubt it would be affecting him too. Just the whole mourning thing happening at the castle would affect him, even if he didn't care too much. But even so, Sage would come visit. And Mari and the kids might want to stop by the doctor's too, maybe tomorrow or something along those lines. For now though, he was focusing on Anya. She was in a rought spot, he knew, and didn't have anyone else to go to. "I know," he murmured softly in response to her comemnt. "But there will be a comfort of being in your own room and bed to rest and figure everything out," he noted gently.

Anya nodded to him, though when he mentioned Atticus, she just shrugged. She didn't really know how the boy was doing. She hardly saw him anymore. They never really got along super well, and now that he was older he always did his own thing. "I'm not sure," she murmured, wrapping her hands around the mug firmly. "I can straight here. He probably doesn't even know," she added, glancing up at Sage with a soft sigh. "We don't speak much. I didn't see him after my father died. I don't have a clue how he's doing." She felt awful about it... but she never saw herself as the child's mother. She looked after him, and if he needed her she was there, but he just... never needed her, she supposed. He was almost closer to her mother than he was to her. It hurt, but she hadn't helped the situation all that much. She furrowed her brows slightly when he said it would be good to go back. She didn't want to. She didn't want to go anywhere near the place. "Yeah, I suppose," she whsiepred.

Sage nodded in response to her comment, admittedly still a bit guilty he'd left the boy there with Anya. Not because she then had to deal with him, but because he never really had a family there. No one was close to him. It wasn't the healthiest way to live and grow. But he'd have died if he'd taken the baby with him....so he'd made the right choice. Or, he was trying to convince himself to of that. His other baby too, that was dumped on the porch....he felt bad about just handing her off too. But it was driving his family apart. What the hell was he supposed to do? He shook the thoughts from his head when he felt amber haul herself onto the couch, belly heavy with kittens by then. He moved to help her up, and the cat settled on Anyas lap with a small meow, no doubt feeling the weight of the girls emotions. She'd always known if he was feeling down anyway.
