"Oh yes I see that. You are right. I will remember that," he chuckled quietly. He hadn't meant to refuse the welcome she'd offered them. He was just used to doing such things on his own, they generally didnmt have servants. He wasn't used to the idea of rousing someone to do something he was entirely capable of. "i would say I understand but I do not, I am very hard to sneak up on." He smiled, what sounded like he was teasing her. He looked back at her, reading the filtered shock as he refused the shared blanket. His humming had been entirely intended to calm himself instead of doing something to her, he wasnt aware she could hear it even. He startled when the book hit the floor, ready to hit his feet at any moment before he realized the look of horror on her face was aimed at him. "What? What?" He insisted, his wrongdoing flew over his head.

Ariadne's chest started heaving quickly as she stared him down, puzzling why he was there. They had already met twice at dances, one of which he caused a somewhat catastrophic scene at. She was still in the midst of laughter and pokes of fun because of it. None of which were all too nice, even aside from being knocked unconscious in her own home by a dancing partner. "You! You're the..." She paused to allow herself a short, bitter laugh directed at herself. "You're the insolent man who left unconscious on my own dance floor." She huffed. "God, I should have recognized you." She muttered, bending to snatch up her blanket and toss the folded fabric into the basket. After, she took up her book and eyed him in angry silence. "First, you dare to assault me as a masked woman whom you knew nothing of, then you don't bother with an appropriate explanation when I ask, and now you have infiltrated my home. Not to mention, you have surprised me, alone, twice in the last twenty four hours. What do you want?" She asked, her voice entirely aggresive.

Frankly he was just as shocked as her if not more considering he had no clue. He shoul've known though, connecting the dots now. Same manner, same hair. Of course she hadn't been flirting like the first time. He put his head in his hands for a moment. Muttering some curses before he spoke. Sounding stressed. "If it makes you feel better, I also was hoping I would not see you again." He stayed seated until she started to slander him. "First, I did not assault you, I put you to sleep. It would be assault if I hurt you after which I did not. And I gave you an answer, you did not like it. I did not come here to come "assault" you more, I did not ask to be here. The planet does not revolve around you." He defended in annoyance, standing up. He wanted to walk away. He was more upset than mad or insulted- though that was pretty high up there. Instead he stood there, crossing his arms and angling his eyes down at the floor.

Ariadne simply glared at him, yellow slits for eyes. "It does not, in fact, make me feel any better." She hissed, gripping the book in her hands like she might not mind ripping it apart. Or throwing it at him. She was contemplating both. She let out a bitter laugh at his supposed defense, striding toward the door anxiously. "Ah, I see. If I violated someone's rights and dignity by knocking them unconscious, but I did nothing after, it is obviously just fine. Its simply unreasonable of me to be upset." She scoffed, clenching her free hand into and out of a fist, composure forsaken. "I didn't like it because it was unreasonable! Your reasoning for lack of a better term, was utterly illogical, so pardon me if I don't take it well." She hissed, making her way to the library door and gripping roughly to its handle. "No, the planet does not revolve around me. Nor did I ever insinuate it did. I find it rich that your first counterclaim is that I am selfish, when you, sir, are the man who left me on the dancefloor for the sake of his own comfort." She finished, her tone returning to some semblance of restraint- strained, firm restraint- but restraint nonetheless. "I could very easily have you tried for treason, elf. Keep that in mind, perhaps, with the next step you make." She said simply, dropping the book so it hit the ground with a slam before she turned on her heel and made her way down the hall.

"Oh yes, you were very violated." He snapped, she hated him for a mistake he made. He didn't want to be a total jerk but she was wholly making him want to stab her in the face with a fire poker. Oh look there are some right there. "I am sorry! I forgot it was your party was it not? Humiliating I am sure." He growled. "I did leave you there. It sure did comfort me when you were out of my arms." He clenched his jaw and turned his back on her. He may have possibly been mocking her, his hands mimicking mouths out of sight as she threatened to take legal action. Of course the idea made him nervous but he couldn't care less at the time. He should've been less of a herk there, he wasn't even sure what he said at the time. ..nor did he honestly understand a few of the words she used, forgetting their meanings. He was not going to sleep tonight. Rubbing his eyes. Very sure it was going to come bite him in the ass someday and figured it'd be soon. The flash of lightning outside caught his attention, followed by thunder.

The angry march back to her room was filled with bitterness and a few colorful curses to fill the silence. She slid back into her room and laid down, staring at her ceiling angrily. Suddenly, she wished she had something to break. Or, a book to take her mind off it. But it's not always that we get what we want. The night went by in a blur of fitful tossing and turning; mainly because she was too upset to calm down. So, when she woke, the first thing she did was go to take a bath. Nothing makes you look less tired than warm water, right?

He let out a hot breath and rubbed his face fitfully. He basically dragged his feet to the door and picked up her book. He put it on a shelf so it wouldn't be stepped on and walked away. He spent just about the whole night in the forest, sleeping in a tree. He looked about as good as the tree was comfortable in the morning. But he showed up for breakfast in time, looking less disheveled than he felt.

Despite her original thoughts, the warm water and scent of juniper and vanilla did actually ease her mind a little. She felt better on the outside, at least. She dressed in a slightly intricate ivy colored dress that was stitched with gold thread and tied in the back so it showed her shoulders. Not quite scandalous, but less than conventional. She put her hair up and into a simple bun, then pulled on shoes and made her way downstairs to breakfast. She made her way easily into the dining room, taking the same spot as she had yesterday without treating the young elf to even a glance- she ignored his existence rather well. She uttered a simple courtesy greeting to Larach as he entered, picking at her fruit as she considered idly whether she would actually try the elf for treason. She could. That would make her feel better, probably. Or, she could... not, and try to get something else out of him. Just, what else?

The elf paid no mind to the princess, hoping no-one really noticed the blatant disregard for her. He'd considered sucking up to her but he decided otherwise. Just ignoring her, and his food. He was mostly playing with it, hoping to finish it eventually. The conversation had been boring and uninteresting for hi, so he blocked it out with the pattering of the rain outside- til a little while in. Somehow they had jumped from kingdoms to populations, probably something about divorce rates. And now he could've sworn one of them had just mentioned the daughter still failing to court someone. It wasn't hugely of interest but he was wondering if one of her parents would reason it being because she's a wretched witch. Though he was pretty sure that wouldn't happen.

It took a moment or two for Ariadne to register the fact that her name had been said, and not in the nicest of manners. With her eyes narrowed in the most civil way possible, she brought a wry smile to her lips and glared at her mother with false sweetness. The woman seemed only slightly taxed by the reaction. "Mother, I wasn't under the impression that my official love life was so heavily important to disclose to our kind guests. If it's my inability to find a politically convenient courtier that disturbs you, I could write you a list of all the unofficial politically conv-" She cut to a stop when Vance started snickering, a falsely innocent look of realization on her face. "Ah, I apologize. This is a topic of conversation more suitable for dinner than breakfast. My mistake." She went back to her crepes in pleased silence. Her mother was giving her a slightly exasperated look, eyes narrowed slightly. She could recognize that it was fair game, seeing as she had brought it up to begin with, but she could only pray that the foreign delegation didn't take offense to her words. It was a well known fact that vampires- specifically young, royal ones- had no qualms about loyalty to one person unless officially bound. Even then, it was a struggle for some.
