He looked back at her, silent. She was supposed to be protecting him, not try to be his friend, it wasn't her fault. He listened to the rumble of the car, he sighed. "Sorry, didn't mean to snap at you." He hated apologizing but he'd rather noth sit ij the car with someone who was unhappy. "You can pick a new some if you'd like." He reached down and flipped open the cubby again. "They should have names on them."

Tempe gave a light shrug at his apology. "Don't be sorry. I understand. I wouldn't be thrilled if I had someone forced on me either, I promise." She said lightly, offering him a forgiving smile. It made her look angelic, more so than she had so far. "Sure." She nodded, reaching down and digging through the cubby eagerly. After a while, she pulled up a Queen tape and popped it in.

"I'm thrilled, just for different reasons." He smiled slightly, looking over at the smile, he got stuck there for a moment, fighting everything not to double take when he looked back at the road. He watched her out of the corner of her eye as she picked. He glanced over at her, an eyebrow raised, with a look that seemed approving.

"And what reasons would those be?" Tempe asked, a slightly challenging tone of voice. She offered him another smile at his... approving? look and bopped her head lightly to We Will Rock You.

"Obviously, angels are real, and obviously, I don't have to be the only one in my car. It was built for more than one was it not?" He smiled, tapping his thumbs on the wheel to the music. He glanced over at her, he'd listened to every tape in the car while sitting in the seat where she was. He was still getting used to not being the only one in the car.

"Oh, I see. A lonely life for a lonely guy, huh?" Tempe teased, smiling brightly and simply taking in the music happily. "Alright, back to Q&A time. Where did you grow up?" She asked lightly, turning her gaze to him.

"I'm more of a car guy than a people person." He narrowed his eyes. He glanced back at her. "Grew up is a relative term, I was born in Texas, then had some time in the Kentucky area- my second language is Southern- had a little time in Vermont. I don't remember much but when I was eight my dad started bringing me everywhere, but he never let me hunt with him til I was well into my teens." He turned to her. "Back at you, how about you?"
"No, really? It was hard to tell." Tempe teased, listening intently to his words. "All over the place, then? Sounds fun. I grew up in Virginia, nothing special, really. Classic, trashy old trailer park style. Stayed till I was sixteen, couch surfed on my friends couches to finish high school, got into Vriginia Tech and never looked back. Come to think of it, I never really went anywhere else." She said lightly, tilting her head.

"It was fun, drove everywhere." He tilted his head at her story. "So you know the technological things?" He said it like such was spooky, smiling. "Where was your favorite place to be when you were alive?" He tilted his head slightly, asking it after a moment of intense thinking.

Temperance smiled, shaking her head. "I was an NROTC. Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. Basically, I was gonna skip being a regular Navy cadet because I did training, and jump straight to Officer. I also did Marine training, because I thought it was cool as shit." She shrugged, tilting her head at the question. She said it like it was no big deal. It took her a moment to speak. "Anywhere underwater. Especially deeper. It's intense, and clarifying, and it makes you feel powerless. I love it. How about you?" She asked lightly, watching him intently.
