Matt gave a slow, short nod in reply to Trixies comment, his brow furrowing slightly on how to reply. With sarcasm? Would cause an argument. Say what he actually thought? Would be rude. Pretend? Would feel guilty. He sighed and kept his eyes on the road, watching as a car in the next lane sped past. "Ah." was all he replied back, figuring that was the only thing to say that wouldn't cause anything to explode all over again. "I wa just curious, that's all. Don't feel like you have to say that just because of me, it's one hundred percent your choice anyway" he said quietly, listening to the sounds of the rain hit the roof of the car as he finished speaking.

Trixie shook her head quietly. "Matt, I wanna be with you. If I didn't, I wouldn't be in your car, and I wouldn't be asking for you to consider being my boyfriend. Don't worry about my ex." She said softly, attempting to reassure him.

Matt gave a slightly fake smile, leaving one hand on the steering wheel at he moved his hair out of his eyes. "I'm aware, but i'll still be worried. Especially if, and this isn't me taking a dig at you, you go and meet him as soon as you're not talking to me. That's the worrying part" he sighed, briefly undertaking the car in front as they neared the turn-off road to the park.

Trixie gave a sigh and withdrew her hand from his hair, laying her head in her hands. "Alright. Point taken. But you do remember that I told if he bothered me enough, I would meet with him? So I did. Not because I wanted to, because he said he would stop pestering me if I did. I would've done the same thing if we were talking." She sighed, keeping her head in her hands.

"See and that's an incredibly worrying answer. For all I know, you'll have that same mindset if we were together" Matt said, taking a hand off the steering wheel as if it could make a point, swinging the cat a little violently around the corner to the turn off. "But I get it. Point understood" he added, his words a small mumble only. Soon enough they reached the park, and he parked the car at the back, listening to the tyres crunch the gravel. "Are you planning on us just staying in the car or actually getting out?" he asked, his tone neutral.

"I never actually intended to get back together with him, Matt." Trixie explained quietly, squeezing her eyes shut as he spoke again. She leaned back and let her head flop against the headrest, watching her fingers as if they were extremely interesting. "I mean, either is fine. Maybe getting out would help." She shrugged.

"Intending to or not, one on one contact with your ex while you're in a relationship is..dodgy." Matt sighed, nodding and taking heed of her next comment. He got out the car, shutting the door and waiting for Trixie to do the same before locking the car. The park stretched out quite far, and though it was dark it was well lit, and luckily deserted. "What do we actually need to talk about. Serious question" he asked as they started off, staring into the distance. He knew what the answer was, but everything still seemed to be a little bit prickly, indicating an argument could start within seconds if the wrong word was said.

"But we weren't 'in' a relationship. And if we had been, I would have told you. And last I checked, Friends with benefits weren't exactly exclusive to each other anyway." She said, muttering toward the end and then shaking her head. "Nevermind. I'm sorry." She added, getting out of the car and glaring at her hands. The tension was so horrible she almost couldn't stand it- someone was about to snap. "We need to talk about if you want to be in a real relationship or not." She said quietly, still not quite looking up.

"Mhm. If that's what you've gone with" Matt mumbled, refusing to speak about it anymore. He didn't understand why he was so angry so quickly about something that, in the past would be so small of a problem to him. Maybe it was just the events of the day, or maybe it was Trixie. He nodded slowly, giving a little time before he decided to speak. "I thought i'd told you? Or did you need more detail?" he asked, doing his best not to come off rude or patronising, which was tricky with the sentence he had just formed.

Trixie let out a forced sigh to keep herself from saying something she would regret when he spoke. "You keep doing things and saying things that contradict your answer. The first time I asked you, and you said just friends. I said fine. And then, not an hour later, you said something about not meaning it. I asked you today, and you said friends. Fine. But you just got angry at me for something that you wouldn't be mad at me over if we were just friends with benefits. So which one is it, Matteo? I can't be both." She explained softly.
