Lance helped him to his feet looking at him in utter shock it took him a few heartbeats to process what Sage had asked for "U-uh y-yeah..." he stuttered hearing waves in his ears after that... he didn't hear much else he'd said he simply put Sage in the empty back seat where he could lay down before he got into the car and took a few deep breaths before he went ahead and drove Sage home trying to process everything... did Max know? Why wouldn't she tell him? Would he have believed them if they'd told him? So many questions he wanted answers to that he couldn't decide which ones were the most important... not that he'd of asked at the moment anyway knowing the state Sage was in. When they arrived home he helped Sage inside and called for Max who came running in alarmed that her father was the one who was bringing him in... she ran to him and helped settle Sage onto the couch "Oh my God Sage..." She said softly glancing at her father "What happened?!" She asked in alarm as she focused her attention back on Sage trying to use her powers without letting her father know... at the very least to make her husband more comfortable. |

Sage couldn't help but be glad Lance stopped by...before he'd been a little...he didn't even know what, but it wasn't all good...but now, he had to admit he was grateful to be able to just get in the car and lay down while it brought him home. Granted, getting to the car was a bit of a challenge, but it was much easier than finding another way home if Lance hadn't showed up. When Max came running over, it felt almost like a weight had lifted off of his shoulders, and he collapsed into the girl gratefully. Once she got him settled on the couch he sort of lay so his head was on her lap and curled up into her as best he could. He felt his breathing steady a little bit as she started using her powers...it didn't heal very much, but it did take a good chunk of the pain away for the time being. Once that happened, he found himself drifting off to sleep, but managed to murmur "explain things to your dad, will you," to Max before he passed out. |

Max gave a smile when she saw him relax though when she heard him tell her to explain things to her dad she looked up at her father who was deathly white and confused... So after Sage passed out she took her hands off him for a few moments got her dad a cup of water and decided to try and explain things. She was afraid of how he would take it but something inside her told her whatever happened... there was no explaining that away... that was for certain. A few hours went by and she'd explained everything in some form of detail... she told him the truth while putting it in terms he'd understand... after all he was only human and if she were honest... she didn't understand a lot of it herself still and she'd been a demon herself now for almost a year. |

Sage slept for quite some time, and quite deeply too, though when he slipped into a lighter sleep the pain quickly woke him up, and he looked around a bit groggily as if wondering how he got back home for a moment before remembering and looking over at Lance, almost shyly. "Did...did Max explain enough," he sort of whispered, though it sounded more like some kind of rasp. he had no idea how Lance had taken it, but he wasn't passed out, so he took that as a good thing. Sage's head was pounding and he still felt downright awful, so he curled up in a sort of ball of the couch, hoping Lance would still trust him. He had every right to get mad, or to mistrust him...he just hoped he didn't do that...he'd known him for a long time, and nothing had changed. But humans judged, a lot, just like demons, so if Lance was upset there wasn't much he could do. He did notice Charlie crawl over and he smiled and picked the girl up gently, with a slight wince. But holding the girl did make him feel a bit better, and Charlie seemed to know he didn't feel good and sat still, more than content to curl up against his chest and look up at him with bright eyes. |

Lance was sitting there with a cup of water in his hand... he hadn't taken a sip... instead when he heard Sage he offered him the water "Yeah... she did..." he said awkwardly "Still trying to process..." he admitted "So all three of you are Demons now?" He asked "I thought there was something different about Max... I just certainly never would have guessed that would be it..." he admitted giving a smile when he saw his granddaughter coming to see her father "Max went uh... hunting?" He said "She said it might help if you uh... consume some s-souls..." he stuttered. |

Sage gladly took the water from Lance and took a drink before nodding. "I hadn't planned on turning Max partly into a demon...she's only half demon....but it was the only way I could save her life," he sighed. "Charlie's half demon too, but only because half of her DNA is mine," he explained, looking down at the girl softly. He sighed slightly when Lance mentioned consuming souls. "There's a certain amount of energy demons need to keep from slowly going insane and fading," he explained. "I try to only take souls of those who I know are dying rather than healthy people's souls, or animals, but sometimes that's hard. With a wife and daughter it's hard to find a lot of extra time," he admitted. "Regeneration takes...a lot of that energy. So, yeah, souls would probably help." |

Lance nodded "So she almost died having Charlie because she was human... I see..." he nodded trying to process as he listened to Sage "Thank you for saving her life... I understand why you're so scared of having another kid..." he admitted giving a nod and chuckling "So I did see what I saw the other day then?" He asked with a chuckle before he nodded "Yeah maybe it's best I don't know... everything just yet." He said giving a nod as Max came in a mason jar in her hands filled with souls of animals "Well we have quite a few deer..." She pointed out "Better learn how to make other venison products..." She teased offering the jar to him. |

Sage chuckled and nodded, letting out a sort of relieved sigh when he realized Lance was shocked, but still thought of him as the same person he always had been. He looked over at Max and gave her a tired grin when she started joking. "Well I have a feeling I'll have plenty of time to look recipes up," he chuckled, taking the jar from her and opening the lid. The souls of the deer lept up and out of the jar, prancing bout the room before he flicked his hand and absorbed the energy from them. He did feel better after that, but now he was tired again. Charlie had started to doze off, curled up against his chest and he smiled down at the girl blearily before resting his head back down and practically passing out again. He did manage to murmur a sort of exhausted thank you to Max, though. He wasn't sure if she heard him, but he got it out there. |

Lance looked up at his daughter and offered a smile though the wheels were clearly turning in his head. Maxine offered her husband a smile and kissed his forehead "I'll bring you more when and if you need it." She assured him watching him consume the souls before taking the jar from him and setting it aside and excusing herself to go and shower. A couple of weeks went by and Max tended to Sage using her powers to accelerate his healing as well as go hunting between that looking after Charlie and trying to help her dad ease into all this to say she was stressed was an understatement... Today was Haileys baby shower and she didn't even have a thought to go... she couldn't her family needed her. |

With Max's help, Sage could manage to get up and walk around a bit, and do some smaller things, like helping fold the laundry or cooking a meal. Max was still worried, and wouldn't let him do much, and he understood her worry, but when she refrained from going to Hailey's baby shower he snorted and shook his head. "Max, she's your best friend. You're going. Lance and I can hold the fort down here," he chuckled. "I'll be fine. You can stand to go relax for a bit. If it makes you feel better I can have Travis come over in case Lance somehow isn't enough help," he hummed. "I've been wanting to see him anyway. He knows I was hurt pretty badly, but I haven't seen him. He's been worried. Maybe it'll do him some good to stop by anyway." He practically pushed her towards the bathroom, instructing her to get ready. "You need a break. Don't worry so much," he chuckled, pecking her on the cheek before going back to collapse on the couch next to Charlie and Daisy. |
