The girl wandered down the halls, making sure to stay close to the walls. She wasn't dizzy, but for whatever reason, walking in a straight line just seemed like such labor. Maybe it was because she was so filled with sleep, or because her body needed more rest as her bone and bruises started to heal. She had barely eaten anything the day before, but it seemed like that small amount had gone a long way in the sense that she was healing, but healing had taken even more out of her, even though it had barely been a day. Evetually, she made it to her room, which had been all set out again... someone had to have known she wasn't in her room last night, just as they had known she snuck out at night. Anya wondered who it was, but as long as they weren't ratting her out, she just didn't care. Her schedule was empty, as she suspected, but it did mark that she was to go to the doctor at some point, whenever she was ready. Really, what would he do? Maybe give her some painkillers and be done with it. There wasn't much you could do about bruises other than ice and ease pain anyway. Still, she swiftly got changed and started to make her way back out again. She wondered what Sage would get up to... she supposed that he would want to rest somewhere safe while he could. Maybe her mother would drop in... try and catch him off guard or something.

Sage lay around for a while, not willing to actually wake up until almost noon. After that he figured he should try to get up and do something, so he forced himself out of bed and walk around the room for a bit, just to keep himself active a bit. He wore himself out pretty soon, though, and after that he flipped on the bed again, wheezing. He closed his eyes and when he opened them again it was almost three in the afternoon. He wondered what Anya was doing, and whether or not her mom would come crashing in to grill him about what he knew.

Anya eventually found herself standing outside the doctor's office, dreading going in there. He would most likely fill her up with drugs and lecture her on sneaking out and whatnot. It was the sort of thing that always happened. Even when she was little, if she tripped and simply scraped her knee, she would be told off for not being careful or running in the halls. She thought about that for a moment... how could one go from simply getting a graze from running about to getting kidnapped and nearly starved, being punched in the face and snapping their arm just to see a boy in just a few years? It seemed rather dumb of her. And from the way she had been asked to enter and told to sit down, the doctor sounded like he agreed.

The Queen, Anya's mother or otherwise known as Adelaide to her closest family and friends, was never a very patient woman. Kind and caring for the most part, yes, but only to whoever deserved her goodwill. Maybe, that was where she and Anya weren't the same. The poor girl was normally pretty nice, to everyone, which normally lead them to believe they could take advantage of her. As hard as Adelaide had tried to teach her daughter to be a little pickier to who she handed her trust out, it had never quite gotten through to her. But saying that, the girl wasn't stupid... she could take herself away from a situation if it was getting worse. That was as much as a win as she was going to get with the girl. Still, as her mother, she had to keep an eye on her. So, when she was adamant about bringing a half-alive boy back to the castle with her, the woman couldn't help but be a little suspicious. Therefore, when she had shown up outside the boy's door, knocking firmly with the biggest scowl on her face, it wasn't a surprise. Anya wouldn't be so truthful with the queen, just to keep him about, but Adelaide on the other hand was actively looking for a reason to shoo him out of her home.

Sage opened his eyes when he heard the firm knock, and he could only assume it was the queen. The doctor would just come in, annoyed to be tending to him yet again, and Anya would slip in quietly. He sighed slightly and turned his gaze to the door, sitting up in the bed a little bit. This would be an interesting conversation, he could tell that already. "I think you can go anywhere in your own castle," he called to her, in his own way of saying she could come in. He appreciated the gesture, as much as he could appreciate someone who despised him, and wasn't exactly afraid to show it. When the queen stomped in, a scowl in her face, a warning bells went off in his head. This was someone who had the power to...well, to do anything to him. Or with him. But she had raised Anya, and pretty much by herself, so she couldn't be all bad could she? She wouldn't go behind her daughters back and hurt him for no reason would she? A million questions were running through his head, though he seemed to stay cool and calm from where he was sitting, resting his back against the pillow.

The woman stared at the boy with a cold gaze. That first sentence made a flicker of anger burn in her eyes. Really? Was that the first thing he thought to say? To tell her how to behave in her home? She wasn't a rude person, never had been, so knocking on a stranger's room was just a formality. She looked at the boy up and down for a moment, only wrinkling her nose. What in the world would her daughter want him to tag along with them for? He looked like he belonged in an alleyway with the rats. Both in clothing and features. She furrowed her brows at him, a sickly look on her face. "Tell me, why on earth was my daughter in a tiny cell with the likes of you." That was a demand. Oh well, scratch the not being rude thing... she definitely wasn't the nicest to lower ranks. Or this boy, whoever he claimed to be.

Sage grit his teeth, anger flashing in his own eyes, trying not to roll his eyes or snap back. "I didn't exactly choose to get kidnapped and thrown into a damn closet," he pointed out. "But near as I can figure it, it was because if they wanted your daughter for ransom they couldn't hurt her. So if she wasn't behaving the way they wanted they'd hurt me to get her to behave," he muttered. So far, he wasn't all that impressed with the Queen...no wonder things were the way they were. A king who couldn't even spare any time to visit his daughter after she had nearly been killed and had been missing for weeks, and a queen who obviously was one of the people who thought he was no better than the quite literal rats that roamed the alleyways. It wouldn't be hard for Anya to seem like a good ruler....the rulers as of now wouldn't be hard to surpass.

No, she already didn't like the boy. He seemed a bit too fiery for her taste. Of course, his simple statement had her angered, but who was he to tell her what did and didn't have to do in her own home? Well, the answer was no one. This boy, whom she still didn't know the name of, seemed to be asking for trouble. Still, Anya had been relatively keen on having him stay, so maybe he couldn't be all bad, and maybe she was flying off the handle, just a little bit... or a lot. Though, his words did cause her some confusion. "Why should she care what happens to you?" She grumbled. The Queen wasn't dumb, for the most part. She knew that Anya left the castle, the same way she did when she was young, but what happened out there she didn't have a clue about. The woman stared at him, a cloud coming over her. "I swear, boy, if you've done anything to that girl," She almost growled at him, her voice was so harsh... It was probably a good thing that she didn't know what Anya had done with him while together in the cave.

Sage flinched slightly, half expected the queen to land some form of physical blow. He eyed her wearily and leaned back slightly, but shook his head. "I think you'll have to ask her that. I'm not so sure myself," he murmured softly. Geez, how could Anya's mother be so...scary almost...while Anya had such a gentle personality? The queen was definitely a person he'd have to watch out for...he wouldn't put it past her to hurt him. She seemed to have the same look as his father did towards him, though she was sober, and would know exactly what she was doing to him. If he'd hurt Anya, she wouldn't have come back. The queen obviously loved her daughter, another thing he didn't fully understand. He assumed it was like he and Lizzie had gotten along, but slightly different.

For two people who looked almost identical, Anya and her mother seemed rather different, though, you wouldn't find them admitting that. To the two of them, they were two peas in a pod. But maybe that was just when they were together. Anya could always describe her mother as a kind and caring woman, so when that switch flipped, it would always come as a surprise. Physically, the only difference was that Adelaide had green eyes, was slightly older and of course had wrinkles to prove that, while Anya's eyes were ocean blue. It would come apparent why people in the court didn't see Anya fit to rule, mainly because of the fact she struggled to... well, be a little more controlling or demanding. Most of the time, at least. The Queen, though, could get a point across fairly quickly. She wanted this boy to be scared of her, to fear doing something wrong or out of place. But she wasn't planning on getting angry... perhaps, due to all that had gone on during the three weeks her daughter had been missing, it could be understandable to have a shorter temper. She rolled her eyes and started tapping her foot impatiently on the ground. "Are you going to tell me anything or am I going to have to pry it out of Anya? I'm quite sure she's been through enough, do you not?" God, she had only asked one question and she was getting snappier by the second. She knew the boy had been through basically the same as the princess, but the difference was that she actually cared about what was going through her daughter's head. She cocked her head slightly, "Tell me this, at least, what is your name?" Anya had probably told the woman at some point why trying to get her to come around to the idea of Sage at all though, the queen was probably trying to get the whole story of the last few weeks out of the girl at the same time.

Sage sighed and relaxed slightly, though he was still prepared to defend himself if the queen got mad enough to hurt him in any way. He couldn't hurt her, but avoiding her hits was an option...he wasn't going to just let her hit him if it came to that. "I'm Sage," he muttered, shifting slightly. "And I don't know my last name because neither of my parents ever bothered to tell me." He spread his hands in a type of apologetic shrug. "Look, I know about as much as you do. I was grabbed and knocked out, tied up, and thrown into a cell with your daughter. We were in there for a while, and they didn't really do anything that I could see. They didn't hurt her, if that's what you're asking, other than hitting her arm. She just couldn't eat because I'd been shot and she doesn't like the blood." He made a face. "I will admit I wasn't aware of much though since my claustrophobia came for an unwelcome visit and I was bleeding out," he grumbled. He'd have to tell the queen what he knew, which wasn't much, but he also didn't want to seem ungrateful or arrogant. Or like he wanted her pity.
