"True... I keep forgetting I'd hear the heartbeat and stuff..." She chuckled softly before looking up at him "That would be great." She admitted happily wrapping her arms around him "I love you so much..." She cooed. By the morning she really didn't want him to go but she knew she had to let him. Maxine chuckled and kissed him "We will... I promise... but I'm more worried about you... just come home ok?" She told him looking up at him "Please..." She whispered softly.

Sage smiled down at Max and kissed her again. "I will. Don't worry." He reached over to press a kiss to Charlie's sleeping figure before going back over to Max to embrace and kiss his wife one more time, this one a bit more lingering on an embrace before squaring his shoulders and forcing himself out the door.

Max nodded, she trusted his word... he'd come home to her and to Charlie she just didn't know when.

When he arrived Roxie greeted him before giving a small digh "Dont give me that look..." she scolded "I know... but one of our demon prisoners escaped and I need you to hunt him down before he gathers demons... unless you want another war on your hands...?" She asked raising a brow at him "He escaped a week ago... already killed or turned ten demons or so against me..." She huffed "Hopefully it won't take long... You and Max are the only "friends" I can count on... I can't rely on anyone else... besides... you might actually have a shot of getting the job done unlike the pathetic demons I sent out before..." She muttered.

Sage huffed out a breath and shook his head. "He escaped a week ago and I'm just now learning about this?" He raised an eyebrow too and then scowled. "I'm going to poke his eyes out with his own rib cage," he growled, storming off to put his stuff down and walking over to the map with a huff. It didn't take long to figure out a plan...only the day. So, they agreed that they'd start the hunt in the morning, at dawn. The next day, he was up before the sun, fully ready to head out. He'd start within the city, loop around, that sort of thing. He'd attack the city, this other demon, and he himself needed to be there to stop him. He didn't want to stry too far...it would happen eventually. He wandered about for a little over a week...which probably wasn't very good for him, but he didn't want to sit down and have something happen. He'd lost weight, and was tired, but his mind was still sharp enough to notice the attack when it started, and to relay the information to Roxie before jumping into the fight.

"I was trying to give the other demons a chance to impress me... and besides I don't feel like I can bother you..." She retorted "You have too much other shit to worry about... Besides until the day before yesterday I still was able to track him with a spell..." She muttered with a huff when he joined her at the map "My tracking spell says he's gone this way but the trail went cold the day I sent the letter no telling where hes gone now... not even my tracking spell can find him..." She explained. When the demon was found he did indeed have backup around 9 demons backed him up and were invisible to the humans despite being in an open road they didn't think anything could hurt them when they couldn't be seen Roxie wasn't too far behind but she didn't get there before tragedy struck. Lance was on his way to the post office for his daughter to send off a painting Max had done to her client. After a small bump in the road knocked the painting out of place in the seat beside him he checked to be sure nobody was in front of him before he looked over to adjust the painting looking up just in time to crash into something only to see a few people out in the middle of the road in front of his car "Oh my god!" He cried his eyes wide what had he done?!

Sage was pretty much just angry at the other demons, so he was, admittedly, a bit reckless. Well he was usually a bit reckless, but this time it was a bit more so. However, he hadn't expected the bombs, and when those started in, he fell backwards with a hiss. His small group was definitely outnumbered....and underarmed. They hadn't expected this, and they were just a hunting group. About half of their group had been killed almost immediately, and after a few minutes, only he and Roxie were left standing. They had both been injured by then, of course, but they were much too stubborn to stand down. Really, too much was at stake, and they couldn't surrender...not unless they wanted this other demon to become death. Either way, they continued to fight until they'd killed off the last demon, and then sunk to the ground, exhausted and bleeding. Sage himself had received a nasty wound to his stomach....a binb had exploded near the end of the fight and had tore him open with shrapnel. He was already fighting for breath, and his vision was definitely swirly and weird. He didn't even have the strength left to check and see if Roxie was alright...which said a lot, considering she was death. He'd come back, and he wasn't afraid of death, but dying out in the sun, bleeding out from a wound he couldn't fix wasn't exactly pleasant either. He could deal with pain, but this hurt a lot...he wished this would hurry up so he could regenerate, but nooo, it had to take longer. He heard the car come down the road dimly, but nothing really connected. It was a car, which probably had a person in it, but he probably couldn't make them all invisible or whatever even if he had managed to think to do so.

Sage glanced over at Roxie and gave her a tired grin. They'd won, so really that was all that mattered. He winced slightly when he noticed it was Lance in the car, knowing things were about to get interesting, to say the least. He did muster the energy to shake his head and chuckled slightly in response to Lances question. "No...we've been here a while," he sort of wheezed out. "We were a hunting party...not a attacking party. We didn't have the long range weapons we needed to cover a full scale attack." His eyes widened slightly when Lance mentioned an ambulance and shook his head again. "No...I'll explain later but that won't do any good..." He trailed off as he started coughing and twisted around with a gasp so he didn't choke on the blood that came from...somewhere. Though, after a moment more came up, and he couldn't really breathe...his body sort of convulsed on the ground for a moment before he collapsed back onto the ground, the light in his eyes completely gone. Though, he told the fixing people to hurry up, and despite their protests, he rushed them a bit, and regenerated quickly. He'd only been dead a few minutes...and while he still had a pretty nasty wound, he wasn't...well...dying anymore.

Sage glanced over at Lance when he heard him yelp and struggled to sit up with a wince and painted hitch of his breath. "I'm alright," he managed to wheeze out, leaning against Lance slightly, since his side still really, really hurt...as did his head. He supposed he'd rushed his healing a bit, so it was still a pretty nasty wound, even if it wasn't necessarily killing him anymore. He took a few deep breaths, trying to catch his breath, before looking back over at Lance. "Can...can we go home? I'll explain, or have Max explain once we get back," he murmured softly, really just wanting to go back to Max. He was used to dying, yes, but right then he was hurting, and really just wanted Max's comfort. It was times like this where he really still felt like a kid....he'd barely just turned 18, and he was younger than Max, and it was times like this where he really just felt like it. He was still the kid who never had parents but needed them. And while Lance had become a sort of father to him, he was freaked out a bit, and Sage wasn't so sure he'd be happy to hear that he was a demon. Or that he'd ended up turning Max into one, either. But he supposed he could deal with that later. But, he desperately wanted Max with him. Even if he wasn't really sure what to do, having Max there, at the comfort of home...that would help, even if the biting pain was still there. Physically, he'd heal soon enough, but otherwise...he just wanted Max. He needed her right then, more than he was really willing to admit. But Lance had married ...maybe he'd understand, at least a little bit.
